What is SIN in God's eyes, NOT man's eyes?

Why do so FEW enter the Kingdom of God?

    Does SIN keep them out?

    ONLY eight in Noah's time.

    ONLY two in Joshua's time.

Matthew 7:14 ... FEW there be that find it ..... in our time.....

Hosea 4:14 I WILL NOT PUNISH your daughters when they commit WHOREDOM, nor you spouses when the commit ADULTERY: for themselves are SEPARATED with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots, therefore the people that doeth not understand SHALL FALL.

Proverbs 16:6 .... by TRUTH and MERCY iniquity (sin) is purged ....

What is this SIN (in God's eyes) that can be purged by TRUTH and MERCY ......that keeps the many from the Kingdom of God?

    Hello Khumiso,

Good thoughts about what is happening in our society today. God is good and He only proscribes commandments that are good in themselves and good for us. Desiring and endeavoring to live a godly life is what He desires of those of us who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. There is always inherent benefit to us for obeying God. Obedience does not save us, but it keeps us living in His will which always bring spiritual benefit because it is obeying as Jesus obeyed His Father. God blesses us when we act like His Son.

So, yes, God's rules bring positive social order to our cultures when followed. They "civilize" sinful humanity, but they do not save anyone. Only faith in Jesus brings salvation from sin and condemnation. When societies on the whole live according to God's moral standards, the society prospers and shows forth the glory of God. When a society degrades themselves with disobedience and wantonness, pursuing the pleasures of "whoredom" as you say, the society suffers much as it decays from this societal rebellion against what God has told us to do for our good. He withdraws His blessing and protection from societies that forsake Him and run after sinful living.

Those of us who believe in our Lord, Jesus Christ, will be strengthened by the Holy Spirit to refuse to live like those who refuse to believe in and follow Jesus and His commands. We become more and more like Christ in what we think, say, and do. We will live holy and godly lives amidst a wicked and perverse generation and therefore we will stand out from the rest of society because of this. Our lives will testify to unbelievers the glory and righteousness of the gospel and to the glory and praise of God. Unbelievers will either be drawn to Christ by our life witness of Him or will harden their hearts even more so against Him. For some, our godly lifestyle will cause them to ask us for the reason for the hope with us, Jesus Christ and therefore open the door to proclaim the gospel.

"whoredom" is now glamourised and painted as empowerment or some form of feminism. I used to ask myself why God had so many rules for everything and at some point I thought they were harsh.

but taking a step back and looking around at what's happening to our generation, it makes sense why he has so many rules. out of these rules come out honesty, harmony, peace and most importantly ORDER. Gods order brings to life and when disturbed it destroys everything in its path

take a look around at our world, everything is getting destroyed but as Gods children we'll get through it through Jesus Christ who strengthens us

Romans 8:7 For the CARNAL MIND is ENMITY (in direct rebellion) against God (the WORD) ....

Most Christians are STILL under the influence of a carnal mind (Satan, deceptions, falsehoods).

Christ is TRUTH, anything not of TRUTH is ANTI-christ.

Isaiah 55:8 ....MY thoughts (the mind of Christ) are not your thoughts (the carnal mind, ANTI-christ) ......

Isaiah 59:7 ..... their thoughts (the carnal mind) are thoughts of iniquity ......

Luke 15:30 And as soon as this thy son was come, which has devoured thy living with HARLOTS, thou hast killed FOR HIM the fatted calf.

Matthew 21:31..... HARLOTS go into the kingdom of heaven before you .....

Hosea 4:14 I WILL NOT punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor you spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves (those with carnal minds) are seperated with whores, and they (the carnal minded) sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that DOETH NOT UNDERSTAND SHALL FALL.

The carnal mind WILL NOT understand these scriptures, it takes the mind of Christ to understand God's parables.

    Predestination and heaven

There are certain things which God may overlook; for a time for the greater purposes. Hosea 4:14 may be such a passage.

That entire book; in fact on the surface seems like a conflicting situation on whether to destroy Ephriam (chapter 11; verses 8-9).

The principle of forgiveness is on a personal level as well with the Prophet himself who is told by God to marry a harlot and not only that to buy her back after she has gone back to her old ways. Such passages demonstrate perhaps most clearly of any O.T. scriptures God's grace. There are lilkely undertones of interaction among the Godhead and the idea of Christ's intercession when God the Father cannot look onto any sin. We need only look at other characters who ended up not only mentioned but commended as being "heroes" of the faith such as Rahab (always followed by "the harlot".) In this example; there is no clear "statement of faith" but there IS evidence of saving faith. The same could be said of the book of Esther where God isn't mentioned at all; or Ruth where there is little mention.

The concept of God loving the world and ultimately only some being saved in the end has the opposing views that God wants to save everyone but doesn't vs. God "giving His life as a ransom for many" ( Matt. 20:28). Again; assuming we aren't universalists; then we all would agree that the efficacy of His sacrifice is only valid for those who come to faith in Him. Nonetheless; just as we are challenged facing the eternal consequences of sin for the unregenerate; we also are amazed that He would save any sinners; not to mention have them rule and reign with Him.

The world is often fixated on external manifestations of sin that are shocking while overlooking their own hearts which are the source of all bad fruit as seen in Matthew 7:16-20 (although the entire chapter is good reading on the subject). This is why; sadly we often see behaviors manifest when self restraint is reduced.

    Life is short (Part 2).

Today; we seem to think little on the next generation; hence kids have found that there isn't much value in their existence. With so many cut off before birth it is no wonder that kids would feel unvalued today and with such poor parenting skills undisciplined themselves. Hosea 4:6 indicates that because of a lack of knowledge people are perishing. Life is as a vapor as several scriptures indicate ( James 4:14). Not only are things accelerated today ( Daniel 12:4) but as I said in the last piece the value of everything has diminished. There will be no suffering loss; I assure you for cell phones; computers and other high tech entertainment sources NOT being present in heaven. We need to be careful in earthly treasures as well (See Luke 16:11); such behaviors show what is really in our hearts as to our conduct in this world.

In light of these facts; do we consider how great it is that we are saved from having to be in an unregenerate state for all eternity? Isaiah 66:4 describes how God "chooses their delusions" and later on at the end of that chapter a vivid description of hell is given. Phillipians 1:21 states that Paul said "to live is Christ; to die is gain." and other verses show that it is better to be in the house of mourning rather than mindless happiness ( Ecclesiastes 7:2).

In light of all this; we do well to see how we approach the House of Worship but also how we live out the rest of the week. It is sad today how many people insist on having beepers and other cell phone distractions interrupt the services. Personally; I feel a need to have a cell phone only in case my elderly parents have an emergency at home. That was the original use of "beepers". For every moment here on earth there are eternal ramifications; we need to focus on working while it is yet day ( John 9:4). As for Christ it is also for us in that respect our time to serve here is short and we need to focus on the Great Commission.

We have much to rejoice in the LORD. For the LORD has given us a look at what is before our own country at this time. This being October 10, 2022. We have gone our own way and expect GOD'S blessings. We have allowed "strange" children in our midst because of our tolerance and desire to "live together." The framers of our country would say to us - we need to get back to our foundational roots that gave us our nation in GOD in the first place.

The framers and especially the Word of GOD told us that "the people perish because of lack of knowledge." Hosea 4:6; Proverbs 29:18

Our children have been out of school too long; and if they are in school, they are being taught ungodly things. We must seek the LORD diligently and faithfully. As Hosea writes and admonishes us to seek the LORD quickly while HE may yet be found.

Let us pray for the leadership of our nation for they have changed our boundaries, not the physical landmarks but the spiritual lines given by our GOD and Savior. Changing the boundaries between right and wrong; between true and false religion. Too many of the up coming generation are strangers to the LORD'S truth and HIS ways.

Let us call on the LORD as HIS word tells too. 2 Chronicles 7:14, 15; 1 Timothy 2:1-5; Colossians 3: 1-10

GOD to shine HIS face on our Nation and give us grace and HIS wisdom. Vote on November, 2022

    Brother Don:

Man DOES NOT have free will.

Man was made to be a BODY; or a vessel.

Vessels, or bodies, have NO LIFE.

Bodies, or vessels, were made to HOLD the LIFE of GOD.

    God is Spirit.

    Spirit cannot be seen.

God created a BODY; Jesus Christ, that can be seen.

The body of Christ HOLDS the Life of the FATHER.

Christ came, as sinful flesh, and sinful flesh DIED on the cross, three days latter the Father resurrected, HIS (the father's) BODY, Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:38 For God GIVETH IT (his creation) A BODY as it hath PLEASED HIM, and to every SEED HIS OWN BODY ( the Father's body Christ).

HIS WILL, not man's free will, because man has NO LIFE outside of GOD, man is just the BODY of Christ (Life and Truth).

Psalms 82:6 I have said, Ye (his body) are gods, the children of the most high.

Psalms 136:2 O give thanks unto the GOD of gods (God's body) .....

John 17:21 That they (the bodies) may ALL be ONE, as thou, Father are IN ME (the body), and I in thee, that they (all bodies) may be ONE IN US ....

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children."

Yes, true knowledge comes from God's laws and we should always be filling our hearts and minds with His Holy Word, I agree as stated in the Book of Hosea 4:6.

I am not saying to read the koran or other false religion books all day long, or even everyday; I am just saying to be aware of satan's devices in islam. We are to expose the works of darkness and not conceal it.

    Dianne,

I couldn't have said it better myself. It seem like few know the blue print the Bible puts forth from the pen of the prophet. Can't match the words and allegories up to historical events if their life depended on it. God forbid you say something now and prophetic; I can't see the trees from my ignorance, yet I want to tell you how wrong you are.

Sometimes I feel so low-down and disgusted can't help but wonder what's happening to my companions. Are they lost or are they found, have they counted the cost it'll take to bring down, all their earthly principles they're gonna have to abandon?

Bible studying the prophets is one of solitaire. If someone were to actually listen, they'd have to have depth of knowledge and context of understanding to make it worthwhile and reciprocal. Hosea 4:6

Solomon knew and understood in verse 13 of Chapter 12 he ends with Let us hear the conclusion of the

Hosea 4:6 if you don't have the knowledge God or disregard it you will be eventually useless.
  • Chris - In Reply on Ecclesiastes 1 - 3 years ago
Hello Manasseh. We welcome all comments centred around God's Word & your question is a very good one.

When we look at both those references you gave, we could see contradictions (as you see also), but then a clearer understanding of them will give us more light. In Ecclesiastes 1:17,18, the author, Solomon, states that he was committed to gaining more wisdom. As a king, this was a very noble thing to desire so that he might rule well & give correct judgements for his people. But in his quest to acquire much wisdom which included learning & understanding what causes men to live foolishly & make wrong decisions in life, he found that his spirit was getting increasingly troubled. So he says, 'in getting wisdom & knowledge comes much sorrow'. Not that there was anything wrong with having more knowledge, but by understanding it better, the sorrows & inconsistencies of life, become more apparent & troubling. So, we have this oft quoted saying, 'ignorance is bliss'. Though not really true, but what it's saying is that 'if you don't know much about life, of people, & life's intricate threads, the less you will burden your mind & heart & fewer will be your pain & sorrows'.

Then in Hosea 4:6, we read, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." If we go back to verse 1, we read this indictment by God against Israel, "there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land." The people were disregarding God, indulging in sins & forgetting His directives to them about their behaviour one towards another. So here, God's people ought to be regarding the Laws He gave them & to show love & respect to one another, but they had forsaken God & His Word to direct them. When that happens, when God's people, then & now, refuse to obey God (i.e. refusing to receive knowledge of what He wants for them), then they will suffer isolation from God. In those days, God's Hand was heavy upon them, today, we will suffer spiritual poverty & feel that God is far from us. Blessings.

Brother Rick, does man have knowledge of God, is this not part of the gospel, man has no knowledge of God.

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of KNOWLEDGE; because they have rejected KNOWLEDGE, I will also reject thee that thou shall be no PRIEST to me ......( Revelation 5:10)

God is THE WORD, man has no KNOWLEDGE of the words (truth) of God.

Revelation 2:26 He that overcometh and keepeth MY WORKS to the end, to him will I give POWER OVER THE NATIONS.

Revelation 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as a vessel they shall be broken to shivers; even as I

received of my Father ( Psalms 2:8-10).

I've gone to church all my life and never once heard that God's elect are going to govern the nations.

Why is this SCRIPTURAL DOCTRINE not taught, because man's doctrine of hell is taught instead, and believed.

    NO KNOWLEDGE.

It's not my opinion, it is written for all to see, for all to follow. The fact is Elijah is promised BEFORE the day of the Lord, not during or after, so he can't possibly be a witness. You are stubborn and can't take instruction; don't muse with your ego when you have access to the word of God ( Hosea 4:6).
  • The Battleground is in our minds - In Reply - 3 years ago
Satan's battleground is our mind and his objective is to gain control over us. For unbelievers, Satan wants to blind their minds to keep them from accepting Christ. whose minds the god [Satan] of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them ( 2 Corinthians 4:4). For the believer, the battleground is still the mind, to destroy our belief, faith, and relationship with God. The Greek word for mind is noema, which translates to mental thought or perception, "that which thinks". Here is where Satan fights for control so that he can blind the person to the Gospel. Unfortunately, in way to many cases, we are not looking and do not see the attack until it is to late.

God's word implores us to guard our mind, against the ways of this world. and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus ( Philippians 4:6-7).

We have a choice, we can cast Satan away or permit Satan to affect our minds. The real danger is being ignorant of what Satan is doing. my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge ( Hosea 4:6). We need to be ever vigilant, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to question the source of every thought. Is our thought judgmental or uplifting? Are we getting negative thoughts questioning our relationship with others or of ourselves? If it is negative or evil, then we need to immediately rebuke it and think about whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report ( Phil 4:8).

God will not save our country, if we do not take steps, to get away from the sins of the world. It's like, God asks me, "You want me to save America, but you are not serving me first?" As Freddieo has said, "God's Word is the most precious Gift given to us" in line with His Gift of His Son & His Spirit. Within His Word we read of Who God is, His dealings with people, His Plans for us now & in the future, His Words of help, guidance & comfort for us, & many more things. Those who don't read (& study) the Bible, are missing out on so much for their Christian walk & in knowing their God & Saviour.

We can just read through its sacred pages, but must do it carefully, quietly & seeking the Spirit's help in understanding & applying what we read to our lives. Or, for those who have more time & desire, to study the Scriptures in depth so that much more can be learned which will strengthen their faith & also help others in spiritual need.

God's Word is truly God speaking to us - it's alive, it's current, it's His speech to our hearts personally. When we read or study it, what we do is to allow God to communicate with our spirit & mind & direct our lives. So many believers languish for want of knowledge ( Hosea 4:6 says that "God's people are destroyed (or, in a spiritual desert of ignorance & defeat) for lack of knowledge"). Also, as we read the Bible, wicked spiritual forces are thwarted from interfering with us as they can't bear to be under the sound of God's Word.

We have no excuse today as the Bible is freely available in many translations but so many forsake it. In some countries in the past (& present) where Christianity & the Bible were forbidden, believers, able to find small discarded portions of the Bible, hung onto them, guarded them & read them over & over again, memorizing these few pieces from the Word & found spiritual sustenance from it.

2 Timothy 2:15, 16: "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness." May the Lord help you & encourage you as you take time to read His Word.

Very true indeed. Most of those Christians are either immature, or have been led to believe: 'that now that I've been saved, I have my ticket to Heaven, so behaving as the world does, doesn't matter'. Tragic!!

When I look at the sins and disobedience of Israel. Today, I look around me and sin seems to be everywhere!

Sometimes I see Christians or the "Saved" doing the same things in an ungodly way. They know that they should

not be living like Sinners. These are the Backsliding Heifers mentioned in Hosea 4:16. Thank God for Jesus coming

with grace and forgiveness. We do not have to live under the Law. We can go to God for ourselves and he will

forgive us and heal our Land.

Without the Word of God, we are in darkness, in which we have no guidance, as Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one will see God without Christ, who is returning for the church in the rapture. Coming for a church white as snow, without marks or spots, and only in obedience to God Word, or Commandment, which proceed from the mouth of God, written with His finger and gave them to Moses to deliver to us all either in the Old Testament or New Testament by the Son of God as Christ the teacher of the Word of the Father God, amen.
