Is Hebrew chapter 4 telling use to rest on a certain day? I know that the Sabbath is on Saturday and Sunday is the Lord 's day and that is why Christians worship on Sunday.
Regarding verse 4. It is obvious that God was not tired so that he needed to rest. We know from verse 6 that to enter into God 's rest requires one to have faith and believe. Unbelief constitutes pride. When God rested, he symbolically put away pride after having accomplished such a great creation. When we trust in God, we also put aside pride our own good works and enter into God 's rest through faith.
We can come boldly unto the throne of Grace without fear or condemnation. Through the blood of Jesus we have access by faith into this Grace wherein we stand. The Grace of God teaches is to deny ungodliness . Truly God 's Grace is Amazing !!!
The grace of God is all sufficient for us. Once we continually fellowship with God intimately we can grow in his grace. His grace is readily available to us and this scripture I believe clearly tells us how we can obtain it.
Hebrews 4 10 speaks of GOD 'S REST AND GOD 'S WORK WE HAVE TO LEAVE OUR WORKS WHICH ARE OF THE OLD CREATURE AND ABIDE IN GOD 'S WORK SO THAT WE MAY ENTER INTO GOD 'S REST. HALLELUJAH HALLELUJAH HALLELUJAH
Why do so many christians in America keep sunday as the day of rest? I know that somewhere in hisstory the catholics changed the sabbath day to sunday, does that mean that sunday worship christians are worshiping in vain? My mother raised us as pentecostal and she walks a very straight line when it comes to her faith in God, and I have been a witness to the power of her prayer in peoples lives especially my own but she does not keep the sabbath. At this moment I do not visit any church because I find my self at the cross roads of these two days.I have read alot of literature about the Christian sabbath and what goes along with christians who keep it like not celebrateing Christmas and not eating certain foods ect. So bottom line is does God acknowledge you as a Christian regardless of the day you keep?
Grace is God 's unmerited favor. It is kindness from God we don 't deserve. It was grace that qualified Paul I Timothy 1 15 He referred to himself as chief of sinner. All born again christian, it is through grace we obtain mercy. To ask and receive something from God, it is through grace.
Our perfect sacrifice JESUS CHRIST invites us into HIS presence boldly believing HIS promises, trusting on HIS finished work and the strength we will need in times of trouble.
The word of God is quick and powerful meaning that, we can use the word to address many issues of life, for example,it can be used to resist devil has Jesus Christ did in Mathew4,Luke4. It can be used to bring deadly things back to life Ezekiel 37. It can be used to address past, present and future restoration . If we belief in the word of God, it will work for us and correct us any time we want to deviate from his will.
The Heb.4 12 tells that, the word of God is quick and powerful, meaning that, the word of God can be used to address any situation. For example physical, spiritual, mental, psychological, physiological, financial, intellectual, emotional etc. We can also use it to address the situation in the past, present and in the future.
The rest is having all our trust and confidence in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The people in the old testament did not enter into God rest because of unbelief. They constantly shifted their confident from God to the gods of Baal. In 1kings18, Elijah the prophet challenged them of dwelling between two opinion. Baal and God. Joshua challenged equally the people to decide whom the will serve. For we to enter into the promise rest, we must totally look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. No matter the trial, temptation or persecution we are passing through in life or in our Christian race..Jesus in the book of Mathew admonish us to throw our yoke on him.
To enter into his Rest is to Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy Exodus 20 8. Hebrews 4 4 9 4And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. 6Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief 7Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. 8For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 9There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. Harden not your hearts for Jesus did kept the 7th day sabbath and since we all claim to love him we should not harden our hearts but follow him. John 14 15 Jesus said, "If you love me keep my commandments " Please people of this world stop saying and start following. Matthew 7 21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord, ' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Roman 7 7 7What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, "YOU SHALL NOT COVET. " God wrote it with his finger that makes it special.. Love the written word literally because God Loves us Jesus is all the world to me my life my joy my all he is my friend from day to day without him I am lost Thank you Jesus
what if this verse had to do with relationship. we ask Jesus to come into our lives. so, He does moving powerfully through our bodies and into the secret place of our lives between the soul and spirit and discerning our thoughts and intents. Ps. 91 It is here that he sets up His throne and we worship Him and we hear Him and He hears us. Just a thought.
The word of God will cut and the Word of God will heal. His word will also reveal to me the thoughts and intents of my heart that I do not know about as of yet. I praise God that He knows me better than I know myself. !!! Sometimes that is scary but Praise God when I allow His word to do what it is suppose to do then I will be Blessed beyond measure.
4 10 especially quickens me 'for he that is entered into his rest..... ' it brings to mind the scripture 'take my yoke upon you and learn of me and I will give you rest. ' REST when JESUS yokes you you have rest. JESUS TAKE MY YOKE UPON YOU. YOKE LET me lead and guide you. and I will give you rest. we are to labour for JESUS REST. JESUS IS THE LIVING WORD THE WORD IS POWERFUL WE ARE TO LABOUR not as the flesh but as the spirit the word of GOD FEEDS THE SPIRIT. JESUS IS THE WORD THE LIVING WORD
It helps us to understand that it 's not enough to just hear, read, and know the word. We have to mix our faith with the Word. Putting total trust in God as we labour for Him in Him that we will enter into His glorious rest in Heaven when we ' ve completed our work here on earth.
For, the living word of God working sharper than a two mouth sword, cutting into the joints and marrow of the bones dividing the soul and spirit, discerning the thoughts and intents of the heart and laying open all our inner makeup.
Nothing we do is hidden from Jehovah God People may do things in the dark or behind closed doors and think they will get away with it because other people don t see them God sees all though just as thoroughly as one standing naked in the open This should make us evaluate ourselves and correct any bad tendencies we may have
Timothy Wayne George on Hebrews 4:15 - 10 years ago
For we have not a high Priest who cannot be touched with the feelings of our weaknesses yet He was tested in all points and did not sin Jesus knows what we are going through no matter what the temptation and His grace is sufficient to see us through to the end So come boldly before the throne of grace for mercy to help in a time of need Thank God Jesus is on the main line tell Him what you need and He will answer Happy Valentine s Day to all
Romans 14:12 is one of the Scriptures that talks about one giving account to God. I love this verse especially because of the words used here so that even a child would understand its meaning.
It says, 'every one' shall give account to God. When God says everyone I think He means everyone. I don't know what you think, but know from this verse that God's judgment is not only for a category of persons - I like to combine the words of Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:10, where by divine inspiration said, '...we all must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ...'
take note beloved that it is a MUST. So, whether you believe God's Word is true or not, whether you attend church or not, whether you believe in God or not, YOU'LL STAND BEFORE GOD WHEN YOU DIE.
Remember Hebrews 9:27? It is appointed unto man once to die and after this THE JUDGMENT. You can be living in sin now and think God isn't going to judge you. You may even assume there is no God (for that makes you a fool), you may think you get away with all your sins. You'll escape God's judgment with your intellect - forget it!
You're wasting your time. You cannot deceive God. He will open your secret life to everyone that day and He will judge you justly according to His high standard of holiness, righteousness and truth ( Hebrews 4:13).
Make your ways right with God lest you appear before Him unprepared and unconverted, there is no mercy on the second side of eternity. Think eternity! Think God!
