As concerning Galatians, Chpt One.. Robert is exactly right.
It is what Christ did at Calvary that Saves Us Completely (It is "Finished"..).. We are Justified by our Faith in what Christ did at the Cross at Cavalry ( Rom 4-25; Rom 5-16&18), We are "Born Again" (Rom. Cpt 6: 3-5 by Christ's Finished work at the Cross...And we are "Sanctified" by our Exclusive Faith in Jesus and what was accomplished at the Cross. Paul preached "Christ and Him Crucified". He said " For I determined not to know anything among you save Jesus Christ and Him Crucified" 1Cor.Chpt2-Vs2. "For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Gospel not with wisdom of words lest the Cross of Christ should be made to None effect. For the preaching (message) of the Cross is to them who perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved, it is the Power of God"(1Cor.Chp1-vs 17-18)---Paul is saying here that the Power of God, which is the Holy Spirit, comes through what Christ did at the Cross exclusively.. AND that "The Gospel IS CHRIST AND HIM CRUCIFIED".. which is where our Faith in that Finished Work brings us to Salvation, Justification, Sanctification and VICTORY..
This comment is in response to Kimutal's ? First of all ask God in prayer to lead you to the right place, where His word is really being taught. I'm hearing scriptures as I respond to you. Please get your Bible & read these scriptures to help.( Jeremiah 29:11-13) ( Psalm 32:8) ( Proverbs 3:5-6) ( Psalm 27:4-8)( Psalm 118:19-20) Pray these verses in your prayers and watch God lead & guide you to the right Church, Remind Him that He promised to give us Pastors after His own Heart.( Jeremiah 3:15) Hope these help. Love you with the Love of Christ!!
This is my prayer for Fainthel; according to Ephesians 1:17-21. I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when He Raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in heavenly places,far above Principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world ,but also in that which is to come. Amen!!
IF ANYONE OR ANY CHURCH OR EVEN PAUL HIMSELF PREACH ANYHING OTHER THAN CHRIST AND HIS SACRIFICE LET HIM BE A LIE AND ACCURSED.ALOT OF RELIGIONS SOUND GOOD BUT GOD AND HIS SACRIFICE OF HIS SON IS THE ONLY REAL TRUTH.WHY WOULD I LET MY SON DIE ON THE CROSS ONLY TO PROVIDE ANOTHER WAY TO HEAEN? ROB
Though i needed more explanation on this,based on fact that HOLY BIBLE is one we cannot remove the OLD TESTAMENT from the BIBLE neither condem the content
I think that Galatians Chapter 1, is clear on callings. Paul preached the gospl effectively after his damascus experience. Verse 1- Paul had been with God and came back wth a word in his mouth from God. Who can dispute this , No one I say because no only was h confident in his message he as sure. Now days people don't spend enough time with God to get God's message for today;they just repeat what others have said.Paul, on the other hand ,gave resh revelation about God's character as if they had a real friend relationship. Paul expresses his knowing him that sent him,through his greetig as I paraphrase "God told me to tell you grace to you , peace to you from God the father and our lord Jesus". Paul had such and encounter with God and thier was a drastic change; He went into Damascus a persecuter and swindler, and came out an Apostle.
These days I am studying about Paul who according to verse 17 went to Arabia (Mount Sinai) to be taught or to have the revelation of Jesus Christ. Thanks
@ R. D. Mattock's comments on Galatians:
Please read Romans chapter 7. How do you reconcile Galatians and Romans? They were both written by Apostle Paul. It looks like the churches that threw away the Ten Commandments choose to ignore the book of Romans. Maybe thats what they mean by rightly dividing the word: You keep half, and throw away the other half...
We are to Study to shew ourselves approved unto God, as a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. If you want Gods approval then study. Too many Christians never bring their Bibles to church or ever read their Bibles and they are easy pray to every wind of doctrine that comes. They believe every word from the person in the pulpit must be true but they never read it themselves. I have encourage people to read the Bible because some people left their churches because some of their teachings were not in the Bible. There are many in false churches today. They preach another gospel. They are leading many in the road to hell.
I feel that the Apostle Peter is getting a bad rap; and thats not fair! While I appreciate Paul and his writings and recognize him as a great teacher and prophet, I cannot help but notice that even after his conversion, God was not finished with him. He appears to be both, boastful (in chapter 1), and angry. Maybe, thats what they call righteous indignation? The transition from Old Testament to New Testament after Christs ascension was a work in progress: it did not happen overnight, but lasted quite a few years. As the Holy Spirit instructed the apostles, they, in turn presented the revelations to the believers, either orally or in the written form, growing in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ ( 2 Peter 3:18). Not all apostles were enlightened of the same subject, or at the same time. So, we have gaps in time and teachings. And in the case of circumcision issue, (which Paul is dealing with in Galatians), the apostles had to have a congress at Jerusalem in order to decide what to do, as shows Acts 15. Even Pauls speech was a work in progress The language used in Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that, which we have preached unto you, LET HIM BE ACCURSED, and Galatians 2:12 I would they were EVEN CUT OFF which trouble you, leaves something to be desired. Jesus says in Luke 6: Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, verse 28 BLESS THEM THAT CURSE YOU, and pray for them which despitefully use you. Even Apostle Paul agrees with that in Romans 12:14: Bless them which persecute you: bless, and CURSE NOT. His statements about James, Cephas (Peter), and John, WHO SEEMED to be pillars in the church ( Galatians 2:9), borders on arrogance. I feel like telling him: Paul, get a life; THEY WERE THE PILLARS OF THE CHURCH while you were persecuting it! True, they were simple fishermen, not trained at the feet of Gamaliel like you, but they had spent three and a half years at the feet of Jesus: The Greatest Teacher of all times. And, not only that, on the Day of Pentecost they received the power of the Holy Spirit: to preach, to teach and heal. Yes, Paul was a great apostle, but Apostle John was a giant: he was not only trained by Jesus and wrote the Gospel and the Epistles that bear his name, but he received countless visions from Him and wrote the Book of Revelation. And Apostle Peter, he was entrusted with taking care of His sheep by Jesus Himself. Also, Pauls boldness expressed towards Apostle Peter, was uncalled for: But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed ( Galatians 2:11). Basically he was blaming Peter for the troubles in Galatia. Too bad Peter had no chance to defend himself. Im wondering how much did Pauls criticism of Peter, help those churches But what really takes the cake, is his advice (good advice though) in Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 15 But IF YE BITE AND DEVOUR ONE ANOTHER, take heed that ye are not consumed one of another. Sometimes its good to take seriously our own advice...
The world is the kingdom of Satan, the evil world. Thats the reason God sent Jesus Christ to deliver the sinners through His blood from this evil place to the Holy Kingdom of God which is heaven the. In Matthew 4:8, 9, Satan offers his Kingdom to Jesus Christ if Jesus will worship him. But, no way.
There are mysteries and mysteries. There are revelations and revelations. As a matter of fact, there are insights and insights, and in all these, when God, in His mannerisms and commitments, is upon a vessel that is committed towards Him, which is coworker with God, such individual can't but minister the way the Apostle Paul did through his letters. What really got my attention is somehow, in different categories; his salutation has great intimacy with God through Jesus Christ. And recognizing who he was prior to the encounter that he had with the LORD, and then looking at the things that had been deposited on him to dispense and administer to the Gentiles through the Holy Spirit, he wrote with such audacity and seriousness. Simply look at the beginning of this letter to the Galatian Church. It says: Paul, an apostle, not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father. A simple look at that, reflects where he got is apostleship from. You see, he was prior to the encounter that he had, a great persecutor of the church, and he somehow finds it difficult to believe that he didn't have it in all those years while he persecuted the Church. And because of that great and mysterious encounter, and the fact that he did not consult with flesh and blood, but did separate himself unto God, in so as to search, learn, investigate and really study the things of God through Jesus Christ. He cannot but write with such in-depth and bountifulness about the knowledge of God and of our LORD Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the World. In that process, God in His mercy and lovingkindness, revealed the person of Jesus Christ unto him. It also demonstrates that, whenever the Gospel is correctly dispensed and administered through the person of the Holy Spirit, in truthfulness, and rightly, grace and peace from God the Father and from the resurrected Saviour must of a necessity accompany it. Hence, He wrote with great assurance, so as to be able to deal with all the vices, and wrong doctrines that had been taught to them. That's why he said it without mincing words. Now the things which I wrote unto you, before God, I lie not, verse 20. That is worthy of note, and that is because, in the things of the Holy Spirit, particularly when you have heard from the LORD, and that is as led through the Holy Spirit, you don't need to consult with flesh and blood, but simply honour God and follow the guidance and directions of the Holy Spirit. Well, in addition, it should be mentioned that Paul's appointment, was a bit different to others before him; and that is very clear when you look at the type of encounter that he had with Jesus Christ. The truth is, God has called individual Christians differently, and what matters most is that we respond to Him accordingly and as led, and also that no matter what, we should simply stick to whatever area of ministry He has for us. The fact is, when a person becomes born again, he is delivered and saved, as it were, in to a calling. And while there are such that have been able to precisely identify theirs and have plunged into it, there are those who are yet able to identify it. Interestingly, all Christians, have, one calling or the other, therefore, when you find it, honestly you won't be jealous about any other. And that is because, in so far as you are in it and you abide strictly with it. He that calleth thee will guide, lead and also instruct you. And with that, there is inbuilt protection, because there is a covenant in place. When you do your part of it, God has no choice, but to honour His part; for He alone is forever trustworthy and eternally dependable.
If you want to understand what Paul is saying in this letter, you cant read just one chapter and expect to fairly evaluate the whole Book. Please read all six chapters; they make up the whole letter, intended to be read by the congregation in Galatia. By doing that, you will find the following:
1. In the first chapter, Paul is presenting his credentials, and describes what the problem was, without spelling it out;
2. Beginning with the second chapter we learn exactly what the problem was: the teaching by some; including Apostle Peter ( Galatians 2:11), that in order to be saved you need to be circumcised, plus other works of the flesh described in Galatians 5:19-21;
3. Throughout his letter Paul mentions circumcision many times: Galatians 2:3, 7-9, 11; 3:3; 5:2, 3, 6, 11; 6:12, 13, 15;
4. In order to combat this false teaching, he expounds on the fact that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ, not by keeping of the Ceremonial Law, which was fulfilled in Him.
By reading only parts of Galatians, many Christians reach the wrong conclusion that Paul is against keeping the Ten Commandments. That cannot be further from the truth. Here is what Paul declares: What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law Wherefore, the law is holy and the commandment holy, and just, and good Romans 7:7, 12.
I see the grace of GOD at work in the life of a man who was an enemy of the cross, but was apprehended and mercy found him. It is my prayer that like he did with the Apostle Paul, GOD may arrest all those that have been persecuting the church until they become instruments for the propagation of the gospel in GOD'S hands. Amen.
The Old Testament Tithe law was just that, part of the Mosaic Law, and that law is no longer in use today because of what Christ did on the cross. If you still preach this today you may want to read Galatians 1:8.
Matthew 16:13-18 When Jesus came into the coast of Caesarea Philippi he asked his disciples, saying whom do men say that I the son of man am? 14 And they the disciples said some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. You notice the word they is two are more of the disciples answering Jesus. 15 He [Jesus] saith unto them, but whom say ye that I am? Now Jesus would like to know who the disciples think Jesus is, the word [them] implies he is asking all of the disciples who am I? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, thou art the Christ, the son of the living God. You understand Peter was the only one to answer Jesus. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, [Peter] blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: [Why was he blessed?] Because flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee but my father which is in heaven. The word reveal means to uncover, to make known through divine inspiration or revelation. Peter had a divine revelation from God the father that Jesus was the son of God, all the people thought Jesus was a prophet, just a man. 18 And I say also unto the, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Okay what is the rock that Jesus was talking about? The answer has to be the reveled knowledge from God the father. Satan would have no way of stopping a divine revelation from God the father to a disciple. This is what is wrong with the church today they do not know about divine revelation, and that it is available to the church today. How do I get it? Remember Jesus said whatever you asked the father in my name he will give it to you. I would pray this prayer; Father, teach me something about your word in the name of Jesus. Now if you do not believe this is right, go ask Paul in Galatians 1:11-12, and 2:1-2, and Ephesians 1:16-23, and 3:1-21. Paul had a encounter with Jesus own the road to Damascus, Paul received divine revelation about who Jesus was. In the book of Galatians, Paul talks about receiving revelation knowledge from Jesus, and he says he did not receive this knowledge from man. Remember Paul wrote two thirds of the New Testament, where did he get it from? Jesus Christ gave him.
Which really Is not another but there are some that would exclude you entirely from having a part in the redemption and free gift purchased and made possible only by the death and resurrection of Christ.
@Ben I believe that this cursing is relevant in a sense. It is not cursing ppl who are soley in the wrong but it is cursing those who pervert the Word of God and lead ppl astray. There is a difference between someone consumed in a life of sin looking for answers and someone who is causing souls to stray from God. They will be accountable for those souls
"Let your faith rest not in the wisdom of me, but in the power of God." The word dwells richly in my heart and mind. "Those who seek me early shall find ME" So, imprssing men is not worshipping God, but rather " Vanity of vanities saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities, all is vanity." It is good to find a brother spreading the Truth on here ! Whoever reads these messages let me reassure you, that we follow the Original Apostles Doctrine
Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
"It is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous." Rom. 2:13 I think if Paul or anyone else for that matter made this statement from any contemporary church's pulpit he would be tossed out on his kiester. But he has made this statement.
The 1st chapter of Galatians is speaking to the hearts and spirits of the people that be encouraged to live by the word of GOD and don't be persuaded by other doctrine I know exactly when the saved me. delivered me, and just when HE made me free. Therefore there is know need for me too sell myself short by tampering with the HOLY GHOST filled spirit that has been entrusted unto me by the good LORD. I too was a modern day Paul taking the people off to slaughter. I didn't kill them physically, but I had no respect for myself, or anyone else. I thank GOD for my road to Damascus that caused me to be changed by the renewing of my mind.
please remember that that Paul by the Holy Spirit is warning Beleivers that the Gospel of the Grace of Christ is being PERVERTED and that they are being REMOVED from the truth in Christ. This accursing is directed at the PROPOGATION of ERROR and perversion. Salvation is by Grace thru Faith alone NOT of Worke lest any man should boast. Examine the many warnings in this book of LAW (works) vs GRACE. see ch 2:16-20 3:1-5 etc. It is essential to remember that Paul taught a MYSTERY (secret) that was never before revealed to man in the scriptures.( Gal 1:11-12) ( Rom 16:25) ( Eph 3:1-11) ( Col 1:24-28) The Gospel which Paul taught us is NOT the same Gospel that Peter and the 12 taught, thus the conflict. see Acts ch 15 of the great council and compare with Gal ch 2:1-14.. there are 2 different gospels shown in each passage KINGDOM and Grace. see ephesians 2:11-18. we are not spitiual Israel but the Body of Christ. Not Blessed with a kingdom on earth BUT Blessed with Spiritual Blessings in the Heavenlies( Eph 1:1-3). At the Rapture of the Church we are called to our heavenly home which is what God intended to be our destination else how does he fix the damage in the heaven( I cor 2:6-8). remember SIN has stained the heavenly places as well as the earth. God created the Heaven and the earth for his dwelling place. Satan stained heaven and earth with his revolt and sin. therfore God must heal both. Israel's Kingdom with Christ on earth and the Body of Christ in the heavenly places with Christ as our head. Thus the warnings of Galatians to NOT compromise on the DOCTRINE of THE GRACE OF CHRIST to another gospel.
to jan, the bible says that to follow the apostles doctrin. witch is baptizing in JESUS name and to have the holy ghost. and living a holy life and to worship GOD and HIM alone. cuz there is one GOD,one faith,one baptism.and to CARLOS i wanted to tell u that JESUS died on the cross for our sins. but when he came down from heaven before they hung him he was manifested in the flesh because we can not see a Ghost right? so thats why HE did that. but HE IS ALIVE!
It is what Christ did at Calvary that Saves Us Completely (It is "Finished"..)..
