jj, there is no pope in the new testament ! if you are referring to peter and when he proclaims that Jesus is The Son of God, that has been a lie used by the catholics but they are wrong ! when Jesus said that upon this rock He would build the church ! Jesus was talking about the fact that peter had just proclaimed THAT JESUS IS THE CHRIST THE SON OF GOD ! Not peter is the pope ! peter was married too, but you dont hear catholics say anything about it !
Looks here in Exodus 18 that Moses had 3 things:
1. Written word of God 10 Commandments;
2. Oral word of God;
3. The Torah And teaching Authority.
Then in the New Testament we see 3 Things:
1. Written New Testament Traditions;
2. Thessalonians 2:15 Teaching Authority;
3. Pope/Magisterium - Keys of the kingdom.
This is an awesome revelation that God does not expect us to do everything by ourselves and that we can not only share the glory; but share the work load and pain as well. Truly, this is something that can be applied today in management.
This should help us understand that even though we are many members, all things work to the good of those who love the lord and are called according to his purpose God Bless.
