    holiness is the nature of God and no evil can come near us because what is born of God is god. Sin brings affliction on God's people.
  • Just one who loves His Word on Ephesians 6:13 - 11 years ago
    By His Grace, many truths have been revealed to my understanding of how powerful our words are, and our thoughts! What we think is what comes out of our mouths. My thoughts are that we need to consider His Word, in it's over-all message. The battle ground is so often in our minds...lies, evil thoughts, etc... and we cannot fight against them in our own strength! They are spiritual and must be fought spiritually. In other words...we need to have the Word of GOD...His Sword...FULL ARMOR, and be able to speak GOD'S WORD in response, as our defense...our TRUE WEAPON, in order to have any real victory in our lives! These are just my thoughts, but I believe, in faith, they've come from our Great Teacher, the Holy Spirit! God bless and thanks for the opportunity to share my thoughts. I hope they might help someone out there. We never receive anything from God just for ourselves!!!

    This Chapter really shows how we can each make practical application of the Bible in our lives. There is something for each member of the family to take to heart when reading this Chapter and Chapter 5. Actually obeying these words and putting them into practice in our lives is what will contribute to the happiness of our families. God knows what it takes for families to be happy and prosper and he has given us principals and commands to follow in His Word. It is up to us to actually apply this counsel in our lives.

    Those who knows HIS name shall not be forsaken because they are the ones who seek HIM and put their trust on HIM ( Psalm 9:10). GOD shall judge the world in RIGHTEOUSNESS and shall minister judgement to the people in UPRIGHTNESS ( Psalms 9:8). As HE said, "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" ( Ephesians 6:11).

    For we wrestle not against flesh and blood...Instead of looking at the person that just insulted you or pissed you off, look at the demon behind the person. For The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. He(the enemy)wants you to start a fight so one of you could end up killing the other. Thus one of you end up killed and the other one end up destroyed. (Two birds with one stone.)It happens everyday like this and the only one who benefits is the ruler of this dark world/your enemy.

    I love the emphasis in "stand" in verses 11, 13 & 14. To stand means not to stumble, but to be steadfast. Awesome!

    Honor thy Father and Mother in the Lord, for this is right. This commandment gives promise that it will be well with thee on the Earth. Parents in the Lord will not abuse their children. Discipline is sometimes mistaken for abuse, but the bible teaches spare not the rod. Whom the Lord loves He disciplines. So parents are only doing their God given responsibility to discipline their kids, which proves their love for the kids. I thank God for my parents, and I would not have learned to love the Lord with all my heart, and my neighbor as thyself, had my parents not trained me up in the fear, and admonition of the Lord. Parents have the most important job on Earth, and this is why God told us to honor them.

    we have to be obedient to them at all times since there are the ones providing for us. the truth is that its not easy at work place, even if we try our best its not noticeable.But whatever we do we are doing it for the lord.

    12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities: (Nature), against powers (Forces), against the rulers of the darkness of this world (Goverment/Politics), against spiritual wickedness in high places (Demons).

    So paul tells us to: "Take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
    14. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth (Wisdom), and having on the breastplate of righteousness (fruits of the spirit);
    15. And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace (Moving to Minister);
    16. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked (God's Power with us). So paul shows us, that we need to take heed to oursleves, that we don't fall

    The Holy Spirit reminding us, through Paul, who our real enemy is: NOT people, those living in darkness around us, (once we were no different to them Eph:2). Remember, WE ARE ONLY SAVED BY GRACE - Jesus Blood washed us and is the only cure for our addiction to sin - He can do the same for ALL who turn to Him no matter their plight. The battle is the Lord's - but He asks us to 'wrestle' in prayer for them. ARE WE CHURCH?
  • Steven on Ephesians 6:18 - 11 years ago
    I think the phrase "in the Spirit" would be more uniquely meaningful if rendered "in (the) spirit". Meaning, our human spirit. For this is where we contact God. God is not only "in" our spirit but also "mingled" with it: "He who is joined to the Lord is on spirit". When interpreted in this way it removes all question of how to pray in "the Spirit", which, properly, would be interpreted as in The Spirit of God; i.e. the Holy Spirit. It should be obvious that we must be in The Spirit when we pray but the issue is this: where is that, specificall, and how do we enter there or, for that matter, how do we know when we are there?

    Is also known as Fruit of the Spirit: Galatians 5:22-25(KJV). Also ties in with the full armor of God, in part "The power of prayer." Paul adds the Power of Prayer to the Full Armor of God: "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people." ( Ephesians 6:18, NIV.

    if Satan depends on god's permition to do things
    then he is a foe.is he is a god like he claim,a
    real god do not need permition from someone else
    to do the things he want to.

    I am not exactly sure why Paul used the word "shod in Ephesians 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

    I can only imagine he may have been thinking of why you would show a horse and why do you show a horse? The main reason for shoeing a horse is to keep the bony column in alignment, so when the foot strikes the ground, the entire bony column including the spine,equally absorbs the concussion.
  • JP on Ephesians 6:15 - 11 years ago
    why did Paul use the word shod which is a term used for shoing horses feet? Why not properly fitted or some other term? Looking forward to feed back

    I BELIEVE, HAVE FAITH, AND KNOW THAT I HAVE UNDERSTANDING. BUT DO I KNOW ALL THINGS THAT GOD SAY? NO. BUT I STILL SEEK TO KNOW! MY LORD AND MY GOD CHRISTJESUS MADE SURE I KNEW WHAT REOENT MEAN, IT MEANS TO TURN AWAY, TURN AWAY FROM EVERY WEIGHT THAT IS HOLDING ME BACK FROM DOING THE WILL OF GOD, AND RECEIVNG HIS GRACE!!! JESUSCHRIST TOLD ME THAT THERE ARE MANY ANTI-CHRIST IN THE WORLD, THEY OF WHOM WE WOULD HAVE NOT EVER THOUGHT, EVEN OUR OWN FAMILY THE MOST, AND THEY THAT ARE CLOSE TO OUR HEARTS.
    AND SAIS IN EPHESIANS 6:12, WE WRESTLE OR FIGHT NOT WITH FLESH AND BLOOD(NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY MY UNCLE ALWAYS TRIED TO FIGHT ME, AND WHY OLDER MEN ARE ALWAYS JEALOUS OF YOUNG MEN!!).
    IT IS NOT THAT MAN IS JEALOUS OF YOUNG, BUT THAT GOD CREATED MAN TO DO HIS WILL, AND AFTER HIS LIKENESS, AND THAT YOU HAVE THE DEVIL ROAMING TO AND FRO, LIKE A ROARING LION SEEKING WHOM HE MAY DEVOUR, DESTROY!
    GOD STILL SPEAKS TO US, AND SAID IN REVELATION 16:14, THAT, THEY ARE SPIRITS OF DEVILS/DEMONS, WORKING MIRACLES/OR PERFORMING SIGNS, WHICH GO FORTH UNTO THE KINGS OF THE EARTH AND TO THE WHOLE WORLD, TO GATHER THEM TO BATTLE AGAINST THE GREAT DAY OF GOD ALMIGHTY... UNDERSTAND YOU NOT THAT THE WORD OF GOD IS TRUTH, QUICK, AND POWERFUL AND SHARPER THAN ANY TWO EDGED SWORD, SERIOUSLY AS GOD TOLD US IN HEBREWS 4:12..
    AND IS A DICTIONARY, AND A CONCORDANCE, AND A HISTORY BOOK! THIS IS CONFIRMATION THAT THE WORD OF GOD, IS REALLY THE WORD OF GOD AND NOT OF ANY MAN( 2 PETER 1:21).

    @Chrys,
    As you need chapters to teach on how to be born again. You may want to start with John 3 which speaks about being born again. Also Hebrews which speaks about faith; 2 Corinthians 7:10 speaks about repentance. Acts 2:8, 10 which speaks of the water baptism in Jesus name and being filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost which is initially evidenced by speaking in other tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance. This is positive proof that the Holy Ghost resides inside you. I pray that the Lord bless you as you teach on salvation and the importance of the water baptism in JESUS name. Acts 4:12 neither is there salvation in any other for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Also in John 14:6, Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. I pray this helps.

    When we believe in Christ, these beings become our enemies, and they try every device to turn us away from Him and back to sin. This battle is against all who are on the Lords side.
  • Jay on Luke 15 - 11 years ago
    1. This is a beautiful parable of forgiveness after repentance ( Romans 10:13), for a person needing salvation and ( 1 John 1:9) for a person who is already saved.;
    2. This parable also gives Christian parents that have witness our children being saved at a young age and bringing them up in the nurture and admonition of the lord ( Ephesians 6:4) and have to try to create a godly environment in the home a much needed inspiration;
    3. Enrolling our children in a good Christian school and being active in a good bible believing church enhances this godly environment;
    4. This is important because we as parents need to recognize our children as an investment not only for our good, but for their good future here on earth and for all eternity;
    5. Proverbs 22:6 tells us to bring up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart far from it;
    6. This is the advantage that believers who have created an environment as I have described above have over believers and non-believers that have not or do not participate in bringing up a child the way they should go according to God's holy word;
    7. This father most obviously did bring up both boys in the nurture and admonition of the lord to get results like this;
    8. A life time of being faithful to God's truth came home to roost;
    9. God always honors faithfulness in being obedient to his holy scriptures, commandments, precepts, principals, and statutes;
    10. It is never too late to get started, but the longer we wait the more difficult it can be;
    11. Earlier is better than later, but later is better than never.
