The Bible teaches both GOD,S sovereignty in electing sinners to salvation ( John 6:44, Romans 8:29 and Ephesians 1:4.and we are commanded to evangelize and spread the gospel( Matthew 28:16-20)Why evangelize if we are predestined?Because we were commanded to do so.I believe the gospel is Preached mostly to the believer anyway .Because the unbeliever does not want hear what you are saying any way.It is totally the work of GOD. There is away I believe,to embrace predestination, and election without having our hands bound by it,when it comes to evangelism. For scripture teaches both sovereign election and necessity of evangelizing.Paul addressed this issue in ( Romans 10:13-15).R.C.Sproul commented on that passage;GOD not only foreordains the end of salvation for the elect,He also foreordains the means to that end.We are called to share the gospel and to respond in faith and obedience. So you see evangelism is still necessary in light of GOD,S sovereignty in salvation for two reasons:(1)GOD has commanded us to do it.(2)This is GOD,s chosen means of advancing His kingdom on earth. We have that privilege of being used by GOD to accomplish HIS will. What a blessing to by to bless others with the words of the BREAD OF LIFE. The apostle Paul was sent by the LORD to preach the gospel to JEW and Gentile. That by hearing they might believe, and so call on the name of the LORD and be saved. But there can be no true calling upon GOD without faith no faith without hearing no hearing without preaching and no preaching without a divine calling.Every man calls upon the god he believed in.And those that do not believe in GOD and Christ do not call on them. How shall they believe in him whom they have not heard;meaning that there is no faith in Christ without hearing of Him.There may be believing without seeing, but not believing without hearing.

Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

    2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Does the man of sin have a chance of salvation? Perdition means to fall.

Romans Chapter 9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

16 So then [it is] not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will [have mercy], and whom he will he hardeneth.

Hey Chris;keep up the good work.I want ask you something about why Jews and Gentiles have to respond to the finished work of JESUS on the cross? Can you add to something that,s finished?Did JESUS offer us anything by way of an option?YOU do this and I,ll save you;If you don,t you will be lost.No He obeyed His Father and did His Father,s will.HE was sent to save the the ones that The Father gave to Him before the foundation of the world. Ephesians 1:4&5.According as He has chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.(v5)Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by JESUS CHRIST to Himself according to the good pleasure of His will. You can,t do not one single thing to earn your salvation.Response or no response; It, all GOD.

Jesus is the King, so in a very real sense the kingdom has come. However in John 18:36 Jesus answered Pilate, "My kingdom is not of this world...". After his resurrection and ascension to the right hand of God, his kingdom is headquartered in heaven and manifested in today's rebellious world by his church, via the indwelling power of the Holy Ghost ( Ephesians 1:18-23). We enter into his kingdom by believing in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and receiving him as our savior from our sin. In 1st Corinthians 15:24-28 we see the fullness of his kingdom, as we can also see proclaimed in Revelation 11:15-19 and realized in Revelation chapters 20-22.

Dear Douglas Russel Jr., Oh, how I hope since you've reached out here, that you have come to understand The Good News of Christ's Love and what it means to be saved by God's Amazing Grace :)

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 "...I declare unto you the GOSPEL...By which also ye are saved...How that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. :)

*Because of what God says in His Word, the Bible, I believe*:

that man is saved from eternal punishment and is justified freely by grace through faith in the sacrificially shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary

    ( Romans 3:21-26, Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4).

that Salvation is a completely undeserved free gift bestowed upon all who simply believe ( Romans 5:12-21, 4:5).

during this dispensation of grace, every person who believes the gospel of the grace of God ( Acts 20:24) is eternally saved from God's wrath.

All saved people during the dispensation of grace are eternally saved and complete in Christ ( Romans 5:1, Colossians 2:10).

Salvation is the work of God and not the work of man. Therefore, it is impossible for anyone who has trusted in Christ to ever be lost again. AND ...We are sealed by the Holy Spirit and are not our own -- we are bought with a price

    ( Colossians 3:1-4, Romans 8:29-39, Ephesians 1:13-14, 4:30, 1Corinthians 6:19-20).

Space here is running low. I hope to share more in another comment if allowed.

As the Apostle Paul repeatedly said:

" Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ " ... Amen.

we are baptized into Christ (not by water) but by the Spirit the moment we believe!

1 corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Galatians 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Ephesians 1:12-14 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Chris. Still on Page 3. You say that after the Fall "the Purpose of God in Creation was thwarted". I am certain you don't believe that. You just haven't examined the thought. What does the Bible say about God and His Purpose? It specifically says it cannot be thwarted. The Purpose of God will stand.

Isaiah 14:24, 26-27 - The LORD of Hosts has sworn: "Surely, as I have planned, so will it be; as I have purposed, so will it stand. This the plan devised for the whole earth, and this is the hand stretched out over all the nations. The LORD of Hosts has purposed, and who can thwart Him? His hand is outstretched, so who can turn it back?

Ephesians 1:4-5 - According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.

Isaiah 46:9-11 - Remember what happened long ago, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me. I distinguish the end from the beginning, and ancient times from what is still to come, saying: 'My purpose will be established, and I will accomplish all My good pleasure.' I summon a bird of prey from the east, a man for My purpose from a far-off land. Truly I have spoken, truly I will bring it to pass. I have planned it, I will surely do it.

Isaiah 48:3 - I foretold the former things long ago; they came out of My mouth and I proclaimed them.

Suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.

Acts 4:28 - They carried out what Your hand and purpose had decided beforehand would happen.

Daniel 4:35 - All the peoples of the earth are counted as nothing, and He does as He pleases with the army of heaven and the peoples of the earth. There is no one who can restrain His hand or say to Him, 'What have You done?'"

The confidence we have is that God is trustworthy. He is not fickle. If God says we will be eternally perfect, we will be. If God had created Adam and Eve perfect, they would have been. And neither they, nor the devil would have rebelled against God.

DWL, I understand that verse to mean that YOU are that someone! Why you (and me)? Because we are the overcomers in our Christian walk on Earth & all that God has prepared for those who have loved & served Him faithfully are beyond the scope of our imagination & knowledge ( 1 Cor 2:9). And the opposite of those who inherit all things, are described in the following verse (21:8): and these inherit only what is store for them in the Lake of Fire.

(Part 4) John 17:11-12 also shows the keeping power of God. I believe in the permanency of salvation because the bible teaches that God is the one who saves and He does so from out of His mercy. According to Paul, in Ephesians 2:8, grace, faith, and salvation are gifted from God.

John says, in John 1:13, believers "were born, not from blood, nor from the will of the flesh, nor from the will of man, but from God." Therefore, from Scripture, a human being cannot save him/herself.I can't keep myself saved, so I have to trust God's power to keep me. John 10:27-29 is one of the most beautiful pieces of scripture that shows me that I am secure in Christ.

Also, Jude states in his doxology in Verse 24, "But to the one being able to keep you without stumbling and to set you before His glory blameless in exultation." Paul emphasized the keeping power of God's Spirit Ephesians 1:13-14, Ephesians 4:30.

Sorry this is long, but salvation is very important to me. One more post, I promise!

Please pray as I convert from Wicca to Christianity that my faith stay permanently in Christ. Pray that I will turn to God in my desperation and be saved through the strength of our Lord Christ Jesus, that all doubt be eliminated and that my heart remain true to Christ. That I may walk in his ways, and surrounded by angels to support my journey through knowledge of God and His commandments. Amen.

TO Madeline: Psalm 27:10 is for your granddaughter. One of my favorites: If my father and mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.'

Give these scriptures to her also: Romans 8:15, Ephesians 1:5 and 1 Corinthians 12:13. She is adopted by her Heavenly Father. She is highly blessed.

Praying for your son and your family Kathy. I would like to give you some encouragement and reassurance. Kathy when your son got saved he is saved forever, nothing can break that seal. It tells that in Ephesians 1:13-14 we are sealed by the Holy Spirit as a child of God until the day of redemption. You can't break that seal. It is a promise from God. God judges a sinner, chastises a sinner but once you are truly saved you are saved. I pray your son comes back to God. God bless you and your family.

Love God like he did to us and get ready to see more trials coming your way. Christian life is not easy. I have learned a lot since the day I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I have been through many storms and with God anything is possible. Trust Him, do not lean on your own understanding, because His plans are to prosper us not to harm. Lets get your full armor of God on and lets keep going for our purpose in life to glorify God alone.

All you have to do to receive Jesus Christ into you life is to be sorry for your sins. Get on your knees and ask Him to forgive you of you sins. The plan of salvation is very easy. He love you so just love Him back by living a good life after you receive Him in your heart. He said He would never leave you so when you have a problem take it to Him. He Is our helper.

  • Doug Puckett - In Reply on Ephesians 1 - 5 years ago
If a man thinks he can be lost after salvation and is taught to depend on his own works of righteousness he will try instead of trust and will surely fail. Salvation produces good works because we have been born of God. You will never have enough good works to merit salvation.
  • Fran John - In Reply on Ephesians 1 - 5 years ago
The once saved, always saved doctrine is not supported by scripture. If Paul had to die daily, then who are we, that God would save us and expect nothing on our part? Paul said he was concerned that after he preached to others, he himself would also be a cast away. If Paul was concerned about being cast away, we certainly know that God expects something from us. The Bible says we are servants to whom we yield our members to obey. If we constantly sin, we are a servant of sin. Christ died to save us from our sins, not in our sins. There is much scripture that refutes this frightening once saved doctrine. No need for a Bible if living right was unnecessary.
  • Anne on Ephesians 1 - 5 years ago
Romans 10:9 says "That if thou halt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved." Vs. 10 " For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Vs.13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." This is the plan of Salvation .
