Vanity: the quality of being worthless or futile excessive pride in or admiration of one's own appearance or achievements. I think it means that Solomon felt our life on earth seemed insignificant compared to what's really important. We come from dust and return to dust when we die, such a short existence. James 4:14 says our life is a vapor.
Ecclesiastes 12:13, John 15:10, 1 John 5:3, John 14:15, Matthew 19:16, Hebrews 10:26, 1 jOHN 2:3, 1 Peter 2:21, Psalms 111:10, Luke 1:6, Psalms 19:7, proverbs 6:23, Psalms 40:8, over and over and over, keep the commandments. DON'T LET THEM FOOL YOU. If you go to judgement w o works you can be finished!! while w you will be fine!! You should jump to want to do w o being commanded.
The laws statues, commandments, were only given to the Israelites, Romans 9:1-5, Salvation is only for the Israelites Luke 1:68-75, you must walk in faith and works James 2:22. The new Kingdom is for Israel, Jeremiah 31:31, Hebrews 8:8. To get eternal life you must do the commandments of God Matthew 19:16, 1 John 5:3, John 14:15, Ecclesiastes 12:13. God hates the sinners Ecclesiasticus 12:6.
Establish Faith in our Creator from an early age. When we see, with wonder and amazement, the world that He has created for us.The sands of time inevitably roll on and we are ground and battered, bruised until 1 day, we return to sand. Praise God and trust that He will ease those days and grant us Peace in His heaven when that day ultimately arrives. Until then? Live Life to it's fullness with God
The whole duty of is keep and follow His commandant's which is His word. Anything else is vain and a waste of time. Take advantage of Grace and strength by seeking Him early when faculties is clear and Spirit is high. We must study to show thyself approved Amen???
Verse 10~Solomon wanted the people to benefit so he took time to find careful words that were accurate and true. We should also weigh our words and consider what we will say before we say it.
Verse 2~ Solomon likens the days of youth to the Palestinian summer where everything shines bright. Youth is truly a precious time where one can accomplish many things. We want to use youth wisely.
Verse 13: Fear God, keep his commandments ( Exodus 20) for they will never be altered ( Psalms 89:34), have faith in Jesus Christ of Nazareth ( John 3:18)
Keep the commandments of God and Faith of Jesus ( Rev 14:13), for the time is at hand ( Rev 1:3).
"Servant of God" back up to verse 9. Rest used in verse 9 is from the Greek word 'sabbatismos' which means a sabbath rest. To the people of God there still remains a Sabbath. Stoning was under Moses law which Jesus fulfilled Luke 24:44. God commanded his 10 commandments Exo 20), added no more to them (deu 5:22) and will never alter what he himself spoke ( psalms 89:34). "Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them...Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." The Summoner has filled this book with questions and searching out by wisdom the purpose of life; for the end of all this vanity is death.
Ren; if you read 1 Samuel 28, particularly verse 13, you might better understand what happens when we die. Compare with Ecclesiastes 3:21 "Who knows the spirit of man that goes upward, and the spirit of the beast that goes downward to the earth?" and, Ecclesiastes 12:7 "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." See also Ezekiel 32.
In this wonderful Book called, The Preacher, is laid out very many aspects of this present existence, and how they are used knowingly or unknowingly to distract man who is made in the image of God from seeking out the eternal meaning of his having been created thus and in many cases, worse, uses them falsely to deny the very God and Saviour, who he is supposed to replicate in character, in conduct, in faith, hope and love in holiness and the Spirit of Truth. The powerful conclusion "of the whole matter," is what we must hear and receive and learn from Jesus to do, with all our hearts, and without hypocrisy. For if after all our lifetime is spent, and we have only our own basket of potatoes and carrots, but no honest accounting of our souls in light of Christ being sent to redeem us then will we have worked for nothing, and all our love, and hate, and envy, and toil, will be turned to smoke and ashes, and remembered no more we ourselves having never stood in the truth, will have no place, and never be fit for the presence of God in eternity. But the Word is written to us as to children, so that we may do them and be blessed. This is the will of God for all men that we might be saved, all thanks and glory and praise to our wonderful Father God, and the Son of God our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Let us Hear the conclusion of the whole matter FEAR GOD AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS FOR THIS IS THE WHOLE DUTY OF MAN. Amen thanks to the blood of Jesus. Help me Jesus to be born again in Spirit all the days of my life. I will praise you and worship you alone for you are worthy to be praise
V. 13 - It is so simple, easy to live for God. We make it hard in our minds before coming to Him ( Acts 2:38) by looking at the worldly 'things' we have to give up; immodest dress, jewelry, make-up, tobacco, alcohol, cursing, our party wk'ends ( Heb. 10:25). None, NONE of this goes with us after death; it's all vanity. Matt. 6:23 - Seek ye first .....
"ALL scripture is given by God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction, for instruction in righteousness. ( 2 Tim. 2:3:16)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. (
Keep the commandments of God and Faith of Jesus ( Rev 14:13), for the time is at hand ( Rev 1:3).
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
