David calls upon his soul and all that is in him to bless the Lord. The Lord blesses us, but how can we "bless" Him? In this context, the term "bless" means "to praise with strong affection." By calling upon his soul and all that is within him to praise the Lord, David summons his soul, mind, strength, and heart to praise Him ( Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 22:36-40).
David also gives a reason to praise the Lord: He is holy. He is completely separate from sin. When the Lord appeared to Moses in a burning bush and commissioned him to demand that Pharaoh release the Hebrews from captivity, He told Moses to remove his sandals because he was standing on holy ground ( Exodus 3:5). The ground was holy only because God was present there. Isaiah received a revelation of the Lord's holiness in the temple. He heard the seraphim pronounce, "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts" ( Isaiah 6:3). Praising the Lord for His gracious gifts to us is appropriate, but it is also appropriate to praise Him because He is holy.
Psalm 103:1-5 records David commanding his entire inner being to praise the Lord and to remember all the Lord's benefits. He credits the Lord with forgiveness of sin and healing of diseases. He says the Lord redeems the believer's life from the realm of the dead and bestows on him steadfast love, mercy, satisfaction, and renewal.
Psalm 103 praises God for what He has done. This includes celebration of His personal influence, as well as the way God has blessed the nation of Israel. David encourages praises from himself, from the people in general, and even from the angels and hosts of heaven.
Amen. I agree with much that you have stated here in this thread.
I believe that we should all agree, that the Bible is God's Word, and I believe we are to read the words literally. Another good reason to read the bible in a literal manner is because Jesus Christ took it literally. From time to time, Jesus quotes directly from the OT. When Jesus was tempted by Satan in Luke 4, he answered using quotes from the OT., God's commands in Deuteronomy 6:13, 8:3, are literal, and Jesus used them in this manner.
So, if Jesus shows us in scripture that He took the bible literally, I believe we should too!
A number of times during His earthly ministry, Jesus responded to questions with, "It is written" (7 times in Matthew, 4 times in Mark, 5 times in Luke, 1 time in John). In the Bible, we also read of many time when Jesus quoted the truths of God from the Hebrew Scriptures.
Satan doesn't dispute whether it was written or not. He tries to redefine the word of God.
as seen here.
Genesis 3:4-5. and
Matthew 4:3-7, 10.
Notice every rebuke came from Jesus was by the written scripture.
3) And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4) But he answered and said, IT IS WRITTEN, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. ( Deuteronomy 8:3.)
5) Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6) And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. ( Psalms 91:11-12.)
7) Jesus said unto him, IT IS WRITTEN again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
( Deuteronomy 6:16.)
10) Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for IT IS WRITTEN, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. ( Deuteronomy 6:13. Deuteronomy 10:20.)
it's interesting The Lord and Satan goes back and forward over what is written.
They both took the scripture literally! The issue is how to apply it.
With Eve the Devil tactic was to misinform.
With the Lord the Devil tried to misapply scripture.
When the enemy can't remove the scripture he set tares amongst us to distort the ministry in every way possible.
NOTE:
The notion that there is no Hell and there is no Satan comes from the same Evil source that told Eve she shall not surely die.
The Bible literally refers to God as Godhead, so the few who are uncomfortable with that term can simply use the word Godhead instead. There's a mountain of scriptures showing the dynamic and divinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. We're here to defend Jesus Christ and anyone trying to discredit or smear His divinity. We should all pray for wisdom, understanding and truth as we read the scriptures so that we are not mislead by the enemy and buy into things that merely fulfill our itching ears.
These are the verses the Search Engine fetched, pertaining to only the word Elohim. Consider these for a while. I'll do some searching for you.
Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Genesis 1:26 - And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Deuteronomy 6:4 - Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
Psalms 2:7 - I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
Psalms 110:1 - (A Psalm of David.) The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Isaiah 9:6 - For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
1 Corinthians 8:6 - But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
Circular arguments on this topic remind me of an Abbott and Costello "who's on first" skit. In case anyone isn't aware, here are some scriptures describing one God with three components: father, son, and holy spirit. We likely will never 100% comprehend God nor should we expect to, but the fact is the Bible describes God as a triune Godhead, uses plural terms, says the three are "one", and I will trust God's Word over man's word. Christians will keep sharing the truth of the scriptures everytime someone tries to challenge God's word.

Hi Jasmine, you asked several questions but I will just address your first question about God plural. It's plural because God is a triune being composed of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Beware of anyone pushing their own ideology and twisting scripture in order to accomplish their desired outcome. The Bible already says what it means and because it says this about God I choose to believe it.
I'd keep reading. Seek the truth and open yourself to learn who God really is and what He will reveal to you. Pray for wisdom and understanding. I wouldn't stop after one section and make conclusions before you take the entire context of the Bible into account. There are logical explanations for your questions.
For your food question if you continued reading you would have naturally found Acts 10. There is much more info in the New Testament about what law applies today, because there is moral law, civil law, and ceremonial law. The latter two were specific to Israelites. You would also read a verse like this: Matthew 5:17-20
Regarding your other questions you would eventually read verses like these:
You initiated a reply to me. I'm not sure how interested you are in my belief, but I am happy to dialogue with you as long as it is respectful and grounded in the truth of God's word, not man's opinion. You shared scripture which is great, I believe all the scripture you shared, but I don't believe your interpretation of it. I believe you have misinterpreted it and I can be very specific to the exact reasons why for each point if you are genuinely open to it. For the scripture you shared there is more scripture that says Jesus is God. He's not God the Father, but God the Son. I believe this, because the scripture says this, not because of feelings, bias, or agenda, but because it literally says Jesus is God in John 1:1. Do you believe John 1:1?
Your comment began with a question not about the trinity as the Bible says in 1 John 5:7. But your question wasn't about what the Bible says in 1 John 5:7, but the word 'trinity'. Since we don't know each other I don't know your motive for saying that, but I can say that some others use it as a common straw man argument to deceive others in order to discredit Jesus. The word the "Bible" isn't in the Bible either, so is it not a Bible? The word used in 1 John 5:7 is the three are 'one', so if you can use that if you don't like the word trinity.

Isaiah 44:6 - Lord is King of Israel, Besides me there is no God.
Perhaps reading Genesis chapter 1 to them. Let the word convince them by the power of God. Deuteronomy 6:4.
Isaiah 48:12-13, 46:9-11, 45:20-25, 44:6-9 all speak of the God of the Bible being the one and only God in all of time and creation. There is no other, and never will be another. So, for me. I would read these to a person (perhaps not all in one sitting) and let God do the rest.
There are probably many more verses you can find by searching key words. I will pray that God will prepare te hearts of those you will share with so that the true Word of God will be received by faith.
You didn't cite one Bible verse supporting your feelings, I wonder why.
Just 1 scripture shows whether what you said is true or false:
John 1:1
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
"...WORD WAS GOD."
Is Jesus the Word? Yes, John 1:14.
This verse is like kryptonite to those who don't want to believe in Jesus's divinity, because it leaves no room for creative interpretation. Anti-Jesus folks hate this verse and will perform all kinds of mental gymnastics to try to make it mean something else, but it doesn't work. It already means exactly what it says.
But is that the only verse saying that Jesus is God? There's more...

Thanks for sharing & trusting us with your heart-felt information. I myself for several years found many movies very awkward & surprisingly inappropriate especially within family/friend settings. That may have more to do with our spiritual convictions, exposing the hidden evils & persuasions deeply enbedded. Maybe try game nights instead. Trips to beaches, parks, waterfalls, nature themed. Places you can let GOD's creation declare HIS goodness, while you speak the WORD.
Praying for you to have clear direction, discernment, wisdom & perseverance, hope & encouragement. I also pray their hearts will turn from things, words, actions & attitudes that displease the LORD & disrespect your faith, instead to things, attitudes, actions & conversations= that are pleasing to the LORD.
I have come to a place where understanding 'pure love casts out all fear' being love & trust in GOD. Hope this helps.
Amen, Precious brother Rick. Totally concur! I gave up, half a century ago, of "voting for the LESSER of Two evils." I do pray for them daily. Praise God IF soon DEPARTURE from this Very sin-SICK planet, as SOON as we preach The Gospel Of AMAZING GRACE to "the LAST member of The Body Of CHRIST"!! Amen?
Racism Being Legislated In Our Schools One of the problems with what your commenting on and I'm not saying I disagree I've met so many so Called Christians in my life that pre judge I've lost count. I've also talked to so called Christians that talk washington should change but when you start wanting to take action then they start saying about well I'm affiliated with this political party or that political party.
Believing Gods word does not have political affiliation and yet I was in numerous churches who stated if you don't vote for so and so your not believing God. MY bible says to pray for the people in office, not to dictate who should be in the office, that's a matter of judging individual character or leader. I have personally known two Christians who were voted in office in Pa. and resigned in 30 days because they couldn't stand the hypocrisy practiced by other representatives behind closed doors. These were so called Christians.
I don't think what you are asking for will ever occur because unfortunately even in the body of Christ there are too many politics. We are called to save people who choose to believe the political arena will never be changed. The political systems are not run by our God. Abe lincoln read a lot of the bible His Wife had seances in the white house, Ronald Reagan was considered a christian and so was Nancy she held seances in the white house. Just food for thought. In His Service
Fear, means Reverence the Lord. Honor Him, obey His Word.
Just like I just said on Tucker Carlsons YouTube channel; God is not Racist.
He gave Adam DOMINION over everything except other mankind. Period. (Nimrod is the origin of racism. He was married to a witch)
No matter our upbringing and educators that we've had, we must teach our children the truth. To hate anybody of color brings on a curse.
Obey Gods known Law, and there will be peace.
Our kids deserve to be taught THE TRUTH.
This isn't taught in Church because we're scared to death of being accused to be racist. This Truth would be upheld at the Supreme Court. Why has no one prepared this to go through the Highest Court of our Land?
Already they tell us how many people can enter church for Services. Tell us we cannot sing Christian songs because the virus might be spread. It's next to impossible to get approval and tax exempt status to start a church.
Let's start speaking up about this stuff!
This Christmas I say we boycott all Christmas Light Wars. Stupid lights are an abomination. We are scared to death of being ridiculed for being a Christian. It's Jesus we celebrate. Put on Christmas plays in the neighborhood park. Full on display, everyone come.
DOMINION means the nativity child could be any race or religion. It's what is in our hearts that matter. Yield to the Lord and let Him soften up our stony hearts. We are told Do Not Judge each other in, meat, drink, or traditions.
Ps. You can make a manger with a California king flat sheet. Staked properly. :D
Hi Mark The word fear in Deuteronomy is the word for reverence and to have reverence or respect is to do what God taught or instructed you. In Deuteronomy 6:1-17 Israel is being told remember daily to do Gods commandments and teach Gods commandments and don't forget Gods commandments teach the next generation. To give all respect and reverence to God, and reminders of all the benefits of doing His word. In His Service
Below are scriptures everyone should read and pray deeply for wisdom and understanding for. Beware of anyone trying to attack, disrespect, or demean Jesus or the name of Jesus. Jesus loves you and died for you. Scripture indicates that Jesus is God. Jesus is not God the father, but God the son. The 3 are all united as 1. There aren't 3 separate gods, there is 1 God with 3 parts as 1 John 5:7 says. We could debunk every one of the deniers' disengenuous arguments, but that would take a lot of space and most are closed off anyway. The same info is also online in countless websites. Satan loves going after any weakness he can find and people keep falling for the same tricks. Christians should simply pray about this and ask the holy spirit to either confirm or convict them on what the truth is. God bless...

More Proof that Jesus is part of the Godhead and trinity:
"And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God."
Some like to use the same old tired argument to attack Jesus and try to discredit Him, which is: Jesus never claimed He was God.
It's a logical flaw to assume something based on something not being recorded. The Bible never said it's the Bible, either. The word Bible isn't in the Bible, so should we assume it isn't a Bible? You probably haven't ever published a book saying that you're a human being, so based on this logic we can assume you aren't one?
Just because there isn't a direct quote from someone doesn't invalidate a concept from the Bible. For example, the Bible didn't record Jesus ever saying we shouldn't "shoot someone." Does that mean it's ok? The Bible also didn't record Jesus saying the specific words that we shouldn't "have an affair." Does that mean it's ok, then?
Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:"
1 John 2:22-24
"Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father."
There's so much scriptural proof we run out of space to post them all. Deniers will still deny, just like it says in 1 John 2:22-24. Satan is real and is great at deceiving. Pray hard about learning the truth. The truth will set you free. John 8:32.
John 14:10 "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."
Isaiah 7:14 - Jesus's birth is prophesied and He is called Immanuel which means "God with us." Matthew 1:23-25 -fulfillment of that.
Read all of the scriptures and ignore the cultists who stray from God's Word or distort scripture. Even children can understand what these verses mean so I think some adults are just wanting to reinforce what they already want to believe, because it's convenient for other reasons. Is a Christian a real Christ follower if he doesn't believe in the divinity of Christ? That is something we should pray deeply and study deeply about.

This sounds like an intellectually disingenuous question. Even children understand the concept of the Godhead or trinity- it's straight from God's word. If you don't understand it, that's fine, have you tried praying for wisdom and understanding. It's possible some of these comments are games a person is playing to try to pull some away from the truth to his cult-like beliefs not from the Bible. That's like doing the work of the devil. Here's some good reading material for the cultists.

Not sure how you like these verses in the Bible then, because it clearly says Jesus is God. To deny this is to deny God's word:
1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
John 10:30 "I and my Father are one."
John 8:19 "if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also."
John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
"the Word was God."
That's hard to deny that truth. Let's read that again.
"the Word was God."
And it sounds like you're saying "the Word wasn't God." The Bible says one thing, you're saying another- the opposite.
Satan is the father of lies and he is no doubt behind every major deception, especially among Christians. A Christian is a Christ follower. Does that term bother you since you deny the above verses about His diety? This twisting of scripture in order to achieve a certain narrative seems awfully like the CNN version of the Bible.
Let's continue with more truth in scripture to refute the false assumptions posted here...
Philippians 2:5 - 2:8 "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:"
John 1:3 - All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Matthew 28:19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"
Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:"
John 14:10 "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."
John 20:28
"And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God."
1 John 5:8 "And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one."
Why in Isaiah would they say plainly "I am the Lord and besides me there is no Saviour?" And in Colossians "In him (Jesus) dwells all of the FULLNESS of the GODHEAD bodily"? Why does James say "Even the devils believe there is ONE God (not three!) And shudder" And another verse in Isaiah plainly says "Is there any God besides me? I know not of any!." Jesus says to John in Revelation "I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and End, the First and the Last!" And in Exodus when Moses asks Gods name, he says "I am that I am". When Jesus said that same statement in John, the pharisees took up stones to throw at him, because they knew he was plainly saying "I am God almighty". Also in John, when Philip said "Lord, show us the father, and it sufficed us" Jesus said to him "Have I been with you so long, Philip, that you do not realize who I AM? He who has seen me has seen the father." So, how can you believe in Three Gods when the bible clearly states that there is One God ( Deuteronomy 6:4)?
Beware of creative people who will try to either disregard or 'reinterpret' all the above scripture in attempt to get it to mean something else. In searching our conscience, deep down we already know what "the father and I are one" and the "three are one" means. We should all ask God directly for wisdom in understanding the scriptures and to reveal and confirm His truths to us, so we aren't deceived or mislead by false teachers. James 1:5. 1 Timothy 4:1-2.
Your comment sounds like an attack on Christians who believe the Bible. Why do you post such a thing on a Bible website and what is your goal? To unite or divide?
Christians believe Jesus is God because the Bible clearly says He's God. Is that reason enough? John 1:1 flat out says it. So, so all the scriptures below that even children read and understand. It needs no creative interpreting, needs no progressive pastor to interpret, just literally what it says. Jesus being God doesn't mean He's God the Father, but God the Son. God became a man and died for you, do you believe Him?
Claiming that Christians who read the scriptures and believe are somehow just 'Americans' or 'Catholics' seems like a disingenuous attack on Christians. Labeling and dividing and lying is what I've seen done to make such anti-Christ arguments. Anyone who does this is on extremely dangerous ground. Anyone who tries to spread anti-Christ lies should be ashamed of themselves.
1 John 2:22-24

God Bless.
God bless.

"Sons of God" isn't THE Son of God.
Do you believe these verses?
Isaiah 48:12-13, 46:9-11, 45:20-25, 44:6-9 all speak of the God of the Bible being the one and only God in all of time and creation. There is no other, and never will be another. So, for me. I would read these to a person (perhaps not all in one sitting) and let God do the rest.
There are probably many more verses you can find by searching key words. I will pray that God will prepare te hearts of those you will share with so that the true Word of God will be received by faith.

Hopefully that helps

There's so much scriptural proof we run out of space to post them all. Deniers will still deny, just like it says in 1 John 2:22-24. Satan is real and is great at deceiving. Pray hard about learning the truth. The truth will set you free. John 8:32.

If you believe the Bible where it says the "three are one" then, the answer is yes.
1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
