Discuss Acts 27

    (Colossians Part 17):

Colossians 4:6 - Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

The command in Verse 6 is let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, in order that you might know how you ought to answer every man. To speak with grace is to speak under the influence of God's Spirit. It means to speak spiritual, wholesome, kind, sensitive, and truthful.

Seasoned with salt. Now salt served two purposes. Flavor is one. But preventing corruption is the other. They poured salt over the meat or food to prevent corruption of the food. Everything we say should be spoken with grace but seasoned with salt, preservation from corruption. And that we might know how we answer everyone. Everybody requires wisdom to know how to answer. Our words can be very destructive.

Colossians 4:10 - Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and Marcus, sister's son to Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;)

Aristarchus is a Greek name for a Jewish native that comes from Thessalonica, recorded for us in Acts 2:4, and Acts 27:2. Aristarchus was a fellowprisoner. He was locked up with Paul. Aristarchus greets you.

And next he says Marcus greets you. This is John Mark. This is the one that wrote the gospel of Mark, and also the one that went on the first missionary journey with Paul and Barnabas.

This is all I have to share in Colossians. I will be going over 1 Thessalonians next. We are getting into some shorter book, so this is moving along a little faster.

Blessings to you all in Christ Jesus!!!

    (Acts Part 58):

Acts 27:17 - Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.

    Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship;

Now it is interesting because BO ETHEO is the Greek word for helps, and in social life, that's what it means. It means to cry out for help. If you were in trouble and you cried out for help, it would be BO ETHEO. But when it is applied to ships, it means ropes.

So, when they put "helps" around the ship, it's the same word for ropes in nautical or navigational terms. And what they tried to do is put the ropes around the ship, underneath, and up above to try and hold the ship together so they wouldn't lose their cargo. That's the first thing they do when they're caught out in these storms.

And so, they used helps undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, they strake sail, and so were driven.

Acts 27:22 - And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.

And now I exhort, or encourage you, to be of good cheer:

Yea right! What is this guy teaching, positive thinking? We been out there, it will be two weeks, in 150 to 160 miles per hour wind speeds, the ship is about torn apart and everybody thinks they're not going to live, and Paul says, "Cheer up!"

The word good cheer means have courage. Well, that is a nice pep talk to keep everybody in a good frame of mind, but it's not going to work! But he says, be of courage for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.

Factual statement! Nobody onboard this ship is going to lose their life. We'll lose the ship but not loss of life.

    (Acts Part 57):

Acts 26:24 - And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.

"Beside thyself" is the Greek word maniac! Festus said, "Paul, you are a maniac," right in the middle of his testimony!

Acts 26:28 - Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuades me to be a Christian.

You've probably heard debates about this as to whether it's a question, "Are you trying to make me a Christian?" Or he's stopping him, saying, "You almost got me." Well, the word almost is not even "almost" close. In the Greek, it is literally OLIGOS which means a few or little. And it is associated not with time, but with words. So, Agrippa says to Paul, "With a few words, you are persuading me to be a Christian."

Acts 26:29 - And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

I would to God is an Optative Mood, which means it's a wish. I wish to God that not only you, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, that is, a little, and altogether such as I am, except for these chains.

Acts 27:14 - But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.

The term "tempestuous" is where we get our word typhoon from. It is equivalent to our hurricane. It's called a typhonic wind. This was 150 to 160 miles an hour. EUROCLYDON actually means a north-easterner, the wind coming through.

They started sailing over and as soon as they got away, all of a sudden, this storm came up and they actually shipwrecked on Malta. And at that time, the storm will have raged for 14 days. So, you can imagine the scene they are up against.

They thought that because there was a soft wind and clear weather, that it was a sign that it was like approval for them. But as soon as they took off, all of a sudden, the winds came up. And the storm came up. A typhoon!

The first recording of the teaching of the "rapture" was by Ephraem the Syrian in his most recently found and translation book entitled "Antichrist and the End of the World" in 373AD.

GOD bless everyone in CHRIST name.

    Brother Ronald Whittemore:

We constantly grow in the grace and knowledge of God, only in his time frame, his appointed time to each of his children.

I think there is enough evidence through out the word of God that shows Christ is the angel of the Lord.

Acts 27:23 And there stood before me this night the ANGEL of the Lord, whose I am, and whom I serve.

We serve Christ, the angel (messenger) of the Lord (God).

Galatians 4:14 ....but received me as an angel of God, EVEN AS Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 63:9 In all their (creations) affections he (Christ) was afflicted, and the ANGEL of HIS (God's) presence SAVED them, in his (God's) love and his (God's) pity he (God) redeemed (through Christ, God's does all things through Christ) and bare them, and

carried them all the days of old.

There is many more scriptures, I like you try to keep comment short.

God BLESS YOU as we grow together in the knowledge of God.

Ephesians 4:4 ...ONE body ... ONE Spirit ....

Ephesians 4:5 ..... ONE God ..... Father of ALL .... even angels .... above all ..... through you all .... and IN YOU ALL .....even angels.

1 Corinthians 15:28 ..... that God may be ALL in ALL .....even angels .....

Psalms 103:20 ....ye HIS ANGELS ......

Romans 8:29 ...conformed to the IMAGE of HIS SON ....

Luke 20:36 Neither can they died anymore, for they are EQUAL to the ANGELS (Christ being the angel of the Lord, and they were resurrected in his image), and are the children of God, being the children of the RESURRECTION.

    God BLESS YOU!

    Hi Giannis.

Thanks for replying. I also believe the person John is engaged with in Revelation 1 is Christ.

I also believe the Angel of the Lord is the pre incardinate Christ.

I believe this is who Paul speaks of in Acts 27:22-23. And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.

For there stood by me this night "the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve",

I believe the person speaking to John in Revelation is Christ, not only by the description but by what he says.

" I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

    "SAYING",

I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

    And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

    His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

    And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last;

I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

    God bless.

    Matthew 24,

North, South East & West, examples: Ezekiel 37:9, Revelation 7:1, Job 37:9,

    East Wind; Genesis 41:6,23,27, Exodus 10:13, Exodus 14:21, Psalms 48:7, Isaiah 27:8, Jeremiah 18:17, Ezekiel 17:10, Ezekiel 19:12, Hosea 13:15,

    Psalms 78:26, Ecclesiastes 1:6, Jeremiah 10:13, Jeremiah 51:16, Amos 4:13,

Interestingly in Michigan the Northern winds blow, it feels like bitter coldness inside, freezing your nose inside like icicles, even through your clothing layers. In Southern California when the " Santa Ana winds" dry & hot, dusty, both very district & unpleasant. The winds that blow East from the Pacific Ocean even summertime bring cool, unpleasant chills as early evening approaches. Etc. (In some personal observation of distinct winds.)

    Hopefully these are helpful

I've understood it to be similar to Simon called Peter: Matthew 4:18, Matthew 10:2, different than Acts 8:9, & Luke, Acts 10:18, Acts 13:1, Acts 13:9, Acts 14:2, notice in Acts, the same book, there are multiple names referenced even a wind, Acts 27:14, Acts 27:8, Hebrews 11:18,

Matthew 1:6 Jesus called Christ, John 4:25, Luke 6:15, John 1:42, John 11:16, not Colossians 4:11,

Romans 2:17, Romans 7:3, same supposed writer as Acts , also Romans 9:26

    Matthew 26:14, Luke 23:33, John 19:13, John 19:17, Acts 6:9, Revelation 11:8,

    Revelation 12:9,

Luke 2:4, Luke 8:2, John 21:2, different than Acts 9:11,

    Acts 1:23, Acts 9:36,

    Colossians 3:15, 1John 3:1,

Hopefully these are all helpful in your study

I really enjoyed your comment as your great awakening has began we all followed a church and pastor or priest at a some point of our lives until our father God comes for us and reveals the truth to us. And it is being revealed to you

Yeshua is the correct name for our messiah it was the JESUIT's that changed his name to JESUS

    JESUIT = JESUS

Follow No name Christ Yeshua said follow me. If only we had a grain of a mustard seed of faith within us to believe that God our Father will teach us the true meaning of Scripture. Well he does for Gods children can hear his voice and it is a beautiful voice.

Just remove yourself from an institution called Church and sit with God in the morning sun and you will feel the Holy Spirit upon you like never before.

    ACTS 27:24

God does not dwell in a Temple made by man's hands.

So you see why God has called you out of that building dear Child our Father has come for you.

For the World has broken the 4th Commandment that to was changed by the Romans Emperor Constantine the 1st changed the Sabbath Saturday to Sunday

The truth is the Sabbaths is the SEAL of God. We became pagans

The wrath is now upon the world because the world does not know our Father and his ways for we all followed a pastor and priest we their understanding of scripture let me show you how angry our Father Gods is

    REV 9:13

200 Million horse riders wearing Hyacinth BLUE & Sulfur YELLOW to kill a 3rd of Mankind

    FREEMASON wear BLUE & YELLOW

COVID Nurses & Doctors wear BLUE & YELLOW

So you see Satans men have come to vaccinate the world for our sins for breaking the day of rest with our GOD

The Bible is sealed ISAIAH 29:11

Only the chosen Children of God can reveal the Truth and it's Hidden message's in Scripture.

No pastor nor Priest have the Key of David to reveal the Hidden meanings WHY?

Because God does not Dwell in a Temple made by hands

Return to God and keep his Sabbath Saturday Holy a day of rest and you will be Chosen.
  • The Ministry of Angels to believers - 3 years ago
    Psalms 104:4

Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:

    Luke 4:10

For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

    Matthew 26:53

Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

    Hebrews 13:2

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

    Luke 4:10

For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

    Psalms 91:11

For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

    Job 34:16

If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.

Acts 27:23 - For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, Psalms 91:1-16 - He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (Read More...)

    2 Kings 6:17

And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

    Mishael=they were angels.

If you need assistance, healing or protection; pray directly to God, in Jesus name, and ask God for angelic help through the trial. We cannot order the angels ourselves, nor can we worship them ever.

*they hearken to the spoken word of God; they enjoy praise and worship music and singing to the Lord.

If your home is dark with spiritual warfare? this is how to shine in the light of Gods love.

Has anyone else had experience with the ministry of angels in the believers life?

I had one save my life actually more than once.

    Praise God!

    Lex,

    Picking up with Galatians 5:4: Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law;

What Christ did for you on the cross will have no effect on your life whatsoever if you're going to try to be justified by the law rather than faith in Jesus Christ.

But then it says you are fallen from grace, and this is where we sit and debate this one phrase. Please allow me to break it down for you. The word fallen is actually a nautical term. It's from the shipping industry and it's when a ship gets off course. An example would be found in Acts 27:32, when Paul and the others were involved in the ship disaster. The soldiers cut off the rope from the boat and let it fall off. The word fall is the same word for getting off course. Just let the boat drift. There's no set course.

Basically, what Paul is telling them is that they had stopped functioning in the sphere of grace. That statement is very important to understand. They stopped functioning in the sphere of grace and began functioning in legalism. The two don't match!

Some teach that this means they lost their salvation. But it means to be off course. A perfect example would be the story of the prodigal son. The prodigal son never lost his position as a son. He never lost it! He squandered much of the provision of the promises for him of his father, but he never lost his position as a son.

You see, that's what happens when a believer gets off course and follows teaching that is not correct. We get off course but we don't lose our salvation. We don't lose our son-ship as a child of God.

I'll go over with you 1 Corinthians 15:2-8 next. There's a bit to share in those seven verses.
  • How Angels Assist the Heirs of Salvation - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Matthew 18:10

Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.

    Revelation 12:7

And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels (demons)

Psalms 91:11 - For he (GOD) shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Luke 22:43 - And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

Hebrews 1:14 - Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for THEM who shall be heirs of salvation?

Acts 27:23 - For there stood by me (Paul) this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve.

Psalms 103:20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do HIS commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

Jude 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

COMMENT: The Lord's Prayer is our best example! Matthew 6. This is how we ask God for what we need. The angels are sent by God. They obey God; and we are to ask God for angelic assistance.

    Hebrews 1:14

Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be HEIRS of salvation?

Last but not least, Ephesians 6. The spirit world is invisible, but can manifest in various ways. This is why we are to be growing our faith on SCRIPTURE (not Hollywood).

Why is this in Acts 27 ?

I'd did not post it to acts 27 .

Also this is in reference to the true catching up to meet the lord on the LAST DAY according to Jesus John 6 verse 39, 40 among others .

In all the bible references to the so called rapture or what ever you want to call it. They are in true reference to the Dead in Christ shall rise then we which are a live and shall be caught up to meet the Lord in the air and return with him to Jerusalem!

Job said I will see my redeemer in the flesh ! How interesting!

The word Rapture is not in the scripture but it is inferred in 1 Thes. 4.16-18!

The Words Holy Trinity also not in scripture but they too are inferred in Matthew 28.19 and 1John 5-7.

There is a catching up to be with the Lord when Jesus returns in the clouds just as he left according to the Angels . But in the Glory of God as well .

No secret Rapture it's not found in the bible . Every eye shall see him ! Amen even so come Lord Jesus !!!

    Rev 20 v 6

This is the First resurrection, Jesus said in John ch 6 He is the resurrection. This happens on the last day , prior to the Lords 2nd coming , same time or day . The wicked are destroyed and Jesus rules out of Jerusalem, Israel now is under his Reign. The promise is fulfilled

The Pretribulation rapture of the church cannot be found in the bible . Because it's a heresy . I have been to churches that fully are indoctrinated with this so I heard just about all there is to it , it still is not in the bible .

My conclusion is they are confusing the first resurrection with the so called Rapture 7 yrs before the tribulation .

It started by jN Darby of the Plymouth brethren about 1830 s. . Yes I attended these churches for quite a while so I heard it all ! Still not found in the Bible after 45 yrs reading it prayerfully . Yes at one time I believed it until I started reading my Bible for myself .

Thank God for the truth that sets us free if we continue in it ! Amen

Dear Rod, it was in the book of Acts. Paul was warned multiple times notto go back to Jerusalem, but instead to go to Rome, but he disobeyed. Acts 20:22-23, again in Acts 21:10-12. Paul ended up losing two years of his ministry because of this, as shown in Acts 24:27, when he could have been out preaching, he was locked up. But the Lord still got Paul to Rome anyway, in the end, Acts 27:23-24.

If we trust in God's Word, He will bring us through every situation no matter how bad it seems. (Is.14:24) says God's purpose always prevail and never fail and ( Prov. 19:21) says, there are many devices in a man's heart, nevertheless, the Lord's counsel shall stand.

Peter; the "covering cast over all the Nations;" which is the darkness and perversion of the heathen mind; is to blame for men's "natural tendencies" to pride in spiritual ignorance, and disesteem of wisdom and knowledge of the holy: "for they say, that the old wine is better." To this same arrogancy and worldly spirit did Paul command to "set them to judge who are least esteemed in the Assembly."

The disciple: Yes, it is very interesting. This human nature has persisted even today as we are apt to trust our "experts", refusing to trust the omniscient God, absolutely, for guidance. We think we know more than the Creator and trust our own understanding. Paul proved that this should not be so as he demonstrated the might of the power from above.

Peter; isn't it interesting, how those in charge set aside the guidance and opinion of the one who really was in a position to advise them; choosing instead, their own "experts?"
