Discuss 1 Chronicles 29

Hi GiGi. Just one thought in relation to this 'Gospel' in Hebrews 4:2, "For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them...". We do see words, such as Gospel, which is familiar to us that can compel us to believe that the same word must apply elsewhere in the Bible. In recent discussions about the word 'parable', I showed that what we read of Jesus' parables, do not always have the same meaning in the OT (sometimes, but not always); so we need to express care in reading & understanding.

An example in Acts 7:38, "This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us". Here is a classic example of how a word, with the same spelling can have another meaning (known as 'homonyms'). E.g. in English (current; ring; spring; etc. are such examples). And I understand, the same in Hebrew & Greek (Giannis/Jesse can enlighten us on this). So, if we come to Acts 7:38 with a firm belief that Luke is speaking of the Church we know today as also applying to Moses' day, then we would greatly err. Luke (in v37), was clearly referring to Deuteronomy 18:15, when Moses spoke to the people, but Luke says, "this is he (Moses), that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in mount Sina...". So what is this 'church' comprised of? Can we assume that it must also be the same Church as we have today since 'Israel was saved as well by virtue of Christ's Sacrifice from the Earth's foundation', or, is the 'church' an homonym having another meaning? In Greek, 'ekklesia' is the word for 'church', however, it can also apply to an assembly or gathering of people. And when Luke refers this to the Hebrew rendering, 'qahal', we find that it isn't the Church we know of today, but indeed a 'gathering of God's people, Israel' ( Judges 21:8, 'assembly'; 1 Chronicles 29:1, 'congregation'). So maybe the word 'Gospel' needs similar treatment.

Do you believe what the Bible says about there being lost/missing Scripture?

The book of Nathan the prophet, the book of Gad the seer. ( 1 Chronicles 29:29)

The epistle from Laodicea ( Colossians 4:16)

And of the things which Jesus did, John said if they should be written every one, I suppose even the world could not contain the books that should be written. ( John 21:25)

Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the LORD, What he did in the Red sea, and in the brooks of Arnon, ( Numbers 21:14)

And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. ( Joshua 10:13)

And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon? ( 1 Kings 11:41)

Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer against Jeroboam the son of Nebat? ( 2 Chronicles 9:29)

Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually. ( 2 Chronicles 12:15)

If there is lost/missing Scripture, than there must be more knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ on this planet.

I believe the Bible and the Book of Mormon because the doctrines therein are the same, nothing waving.

Otherwise, I would not believe the Book of Mormon.

The Bible is my main source for truth.

I there are other writings claiming to be of the God of Israel, I will certainly take that into consideration and compare the doctrines to what the Bible says and if there is a contradiction, I will know the doctrines are not of the God of Israel.

    I can find no contradictions.

    Luke 9:29

And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.

    1 Chronicles 29:2

Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.

Comment: It wasn't a good moment for the disciples to go into "building program mode".

If Jesus, Elijah, Moses, and the Father are together; it's a good time to be on your face worshipping.

    Stii, Jesus didn't scold them.

David prayed to God to give Solomon his son, a perfect heart to keep his commandment. As parents we need to pray that God gives our Children such a heart, that it can be well with them. A perfect heart is worth praying for, even as individuals.

David set his affection on the house of the Lord and although he was forbidden to build the temple he mightily prepared for it by giving of his own personal wealth and encouraged others to serve who also gave willingly in building it.

Verses 11,12: Jehovah God is the wealthiest Person in the entire universe. Everything on earth and in heaven belongs to him.

What a glorious way to reign and to die! David reigned successfully over Israel for 40 years and died peacefully having installed his son Solomon as directed by God. Were it not for his blood-stained hands, God would have allowed him to build the temple. Message to us is to seek God's favour at all times, give him everlasting praise and honour and stay at the centre of His will.

I was looking for different words to use in my expressions of worship and gratitude to the LORD ABBA. One morning in devotion I opened the bible to this verse and my life has not been the same. Today, whenever I come under any kind of demonic attack I focus on the Greatness, Power, Glory, Victory and Majesty of CHRIST JESUS, being manifested within, through and around me and I am totally delivered. MOST HOLY YHWH ABBA, is present with us and manifests HIS might in us through HIS MOST HOLY SON YESHUA, CHRIST JESUS and HIS MOST HOLY SPIRIT WHO is at work within us. Amen.

I saw this verse and forgot that it was in the Old Testament. Wow, God totally convicted me that the gold, silver, brass to be prepared for His House are the lost sinners who need to be brought to Christ. O Lord, help us obey!!

I had a horrible dreams last night that if it wasn't the the name and the blood of Jesus, I believe ,I could have been killed before I woke up.
I thank God for the few words of his power that I used to fight the prince of darkness ,but I know now that I need more of Gods words under my belt. One thing is for sure, there is power in the name of the most high God, The name of Jesus.
    Thx

I think this is a very special scripture. I pray this over my children and grandchildren and replace their names. Our children be it young or older need extra strength and blessings in this day and time.

A spiritual principle is being adhered to here. That is if we say we love God, there must be a corresponding action. For it is written " For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son".
