I like the way Gigi put it concerning Genesis 1:31.
"He made everything just the way he planned it".
Therefore he called it Good.
Including Satan and the Angels.
Good doesn't express behavior in these passages. It's accomplishing what was intended.
There is only one Good and that's God.
Adam shame and trying to cover his nakedness after his eyes were open to receive knowledge of Good and Evil testifies that he had a sense of awareness of his depravity and vulnerability. Not nudity.
If nudity being wrong was all he got out of the tree of knowledge of good and evil and that was sinful and valid then he wasn't made perfect. He didn't take clothes off, He was born Naked.
Adam hid himself from God because when his eyes were opened he saw himself with the knowledge he received from the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
This Knowledge revealed to him that he wasn't Good. He's now realizes he's vulnerable.
Here's what he said; I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
This is in line with what nakedness means throughout the scripture.
Adam was a natural man, A empty vessel and naked.
How do you define sinless nature? Isn't it "someone's NATURAL reaction to not sin.
How could one with a sinless nature sin?
Or one with a sinful nature "NOT" sin?
I would define Adam as one being imperfect and one that cannot please God.
There is nothing written of him to determine what he was like before the fall.
However he's flesh and there's lust in the flesh and has no ability it or desire to please God.
Hello GIGI, likewise it is good to hear from you! We are well and our daughter is now married! We are going to fly this week the Lord willing to MS and see the new home and be part of our Church's wedding reception for them over-there. How is the beautiful PW this summer! I have heard it was a lot nicer there than here. :)
My thought continued. The first Adam left the garden in sin but with a promise and by mercy there would be a washing of regeneration and a renewing of the Holy Ghost in due time to those whom would believe.
The eternal plan of God before creation was to create humanity in His image and to be their God alone. In this plan, He also allowed for the fall of Satan and his angels and the fall of man because He planned the best way for humanity to have the best fellowship with Himself is through the incarnation of the Son who would never sin yet die in the place for all who were to come to God through Jesus, the second Adam. The first Adam was purposed to come to know his need for a Savior as all of us who believe have come to know that our sin deems us unworthy of fellowship with God and that we need God to do what He deems to be the wisest, most gracious, most merciful, most perfect way to redeem us. And that is in the incarnated Son who became man, though eternally God, to live the life Adam and none of us could live without Christ. He was to be our perfectly righteous Savior and perfect Sacrifice for our sins at the cross. His resurrection to life from death demonstrates the accomplished work of salvation was only through Him, Jesus our Lord.
Adam died because He sinned. Jesus died because Adam sinned.
Adam failed to obey one simple command of God. Jesus obeyed the Father in every way and circumstance in His earthly life even with the devil tempting Him with every device and angle of temptation he could devise. Adam hide from God because of His shame for sinning. Jesus cried out to God on the cross, enduring its shame, experiencing the forsakenness of the Father on our behalf. God sought out Adam in the garden to bring him to repentance and to promise the Redeemer to come. God laid on Jesus the penalty for all of our sin and Jesus, as the divine Son, experienced death in his humanity. And then Jesus was raised back to life to live forevermore as our Savior. Adam died and will be resurrected in the coming of Jesus at the end of the age.
Jesus is always righteous and Adam needed to be clothed in His righteousness.
" And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost."
How does faith come to man? "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God./ But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world." The babe leaped in the womb of his mother just as Lazarus who was dead for some four days heard the voice. "Lazarus, come forth./And he that was dead came forth"( John 11:43-44). Similarly John hears the number spoken in his vision,(Re.9:16). Faith is the lingua franca between the two worlds framed by the word of God and this holds for creature two worlds simultaneously, the heavenly places and our physical world Faith is the language between them, "Deep calleth unto deep"(Ps.42:7). Israel being disobedient and gainsaying people were like ostrich their head buried in sand. So are those who refuse faith on insufficient grounds. The babe heard the salutation of Mary and leaped in her womb which is the works we are concerned with. If we say Jesus Christ is the light of the world our works being good witnesses for him establish the quality of our faith. In the case of Paul he believed in the body prepared of God so he would walk not by sight but but by faith. St Paul did not go by appearances nor take things at its face value. " For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life./Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit." (2 Co.5:4-5)
"For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead./And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again."(vv.14-15)
I thought your question about purgatory was serious and valid. And I agree with others that your main source of spiritual knowledge is the Bible. But I do not agree with being discouraged to from seeking information from other sources. The internet, or back in my day, encyclopedias, etc were good sources to get information and then compare that information to what the Bible says. I do this all the time.
AS to purgatory, you will not find any information on it in the Bible because it is not mentioned there. That is where getting information like Chris gave you helps. He did not get this information from the Bible. Nor did I. I learned some about purgatory from Catholic friends. And I sought more information from the internet. You can do that too by posing the topic in ways like:
What is the teaching about purgatory? Is purgatory a biblical doctrine? What is wrong about the concept of purgatory?
I would start there.
I have noticed you come on here from time to time. I hope that you continue to do so. I am sorry that you have been offended by the way some have responded to you. We all come here with positive and negative experiences from our past experiences with various sects of Christianity. My hope for you is that you stay with us here, continue to ask questions, and that you are able to access all the information you need from various sources. The comments of people on here are one source outside of the Bible, So is information that you can find on sites on the internet or in books.
I was wondering, are you new to the faith in Jesus?
I will pray for you that God will guide you to truth concerning the questions you have. He is faithful because He wants all believers to know the truth. Most of this truth we find in the Bible. But some truth is found in other sources because the topic is not mentioned in the Bible, such as purgatory. Keep seeking. the Holy Spirit is with you.
Yes, do can some of what I am able to grow. I do not have a big garden. Just 4 raised beds. But I don't grow a great variety of vegies, just plant a few varieties and that way I get a big enough harvest of, say, tomatoes, or beans, or peppers. I have lettuce and salad greens growing in one bed. It is yielding more than we can eat. So, some goes to the food bank and some to people I know who do not have garden beds. I loved to see the progression from turning the dirt, to planting the seeds, to watering, then sprouting and then the abundance. It is an amazing process that God governs, even though we contribute to it in smaller ways.
Kind of like our daily walk with our Lord. He gives us life, causes us to grow and yield spiritual fruit and governs our days. But we have a responsibility to cooperate and obey him in all things. To neglect to do so is like failing to water our vegetable garden or pull out the weeds that take away from the good plants.
I believe I heard you say you live in the south. is that correct?
Dear Tdianne: I am very sorry if I have offended you in any way I only meant to encourage you, like the others who responded to you. My concern, since you mentioned purgatory was to caution you about the false doctrines of Catholicism and encourage you to go to God's word for your answers. Please don't be discouraged and stay with us. We would love for you to ask questions and discuss with us God Bless :)
"And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus." God chose a Hellenized name for his son, that itself speaks the core value of his Advent. He is a sign, meaning the word concerning has been said and it is beyond recall. God's calling and gifts are irrevocable. A body has he prepared for him and in him whosoever chosen shall have body quality of which to say the least is heavenly. It is a spiritual body. For those who are planted after our likeness it shall be a glorious body. There is a difference. "And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly."(1 Co.15:49) In his humanity he tasted death for everyone. So his name is Hellenized and not Joshua, As the Word he was with God before Abraham. "Before Abraham was, I am". God had besides made him After the order of Melchizedek. "The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek."Ps.110:3 TheSpirit uses "Forever" which tag is to establish His kingship and Priesthood is independent of what is accorded to David. In v.32 according to his humanity he is the son of David. So our glorious body is set for everlasting to everlasting. His ministry of reconciliation covered both Jews and the Gentiles. Hence this Hellenic name. At his crucifixion the superscription on the cross was also written, " and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin."( John 19:20)
For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren."(He.2:11)
32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David/And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end." An indication of this we see in Re.Ch.6:2 "and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer." He is seen in Re.19:16
Dear Tdianne , I'm sorry if I offended you , that was not my intention . I thought that I answered your question about pergatory and then talked about how web sites can steer you in the wrong direction but God Himself , through His Word the Bible , will never steer you wrong . Again I'm sorry if I offended you in any way .
Brother Chris and others gave you some sound info on purgatory.
This is a site where you can read the Bible and ask questions.
There's several people here who would love to help in any way we can.
What I believe Jaz is telling you is you must continue in your reading and studies from the Bible as your main source for spiritual growth.
We all ask questions and examine everything with the written word of God.
There's great sites and there are bad ones,
There are great teachers and there are false teachers on these sites and anywhere else you go.
In order so you won't be deceived you must pray, read your Bible for your self and study as a Berean as mentioned in Acts 17:11.These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Read, pray and trust in God's word and ask God questions about any and everything! Also ask others if need be. God will send your answers in diverse ways and he may tarry, He may want you to continue feeding so you can grow and mature to be able to receive such answers.
Don't be discouraged and may the Lord bless you I'm your studies.
"Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?"
The word of God before the worlds began called and what is the word? it sanctifies whosoever receives it in faith. He is a chosen vessel when he responds to it. Zechariah had a problem. His reasonable mind rebelled against the idea.He asked the angel,"Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years." (1:18) He was rebelling against the truth. Rational faculties are part of the baggage, the flesh and blood making up a form, a body formed of the dust of the ground and has no life when it is dissolved. It is dust to dust and no one shall know the difference. So reason is a wet noodle that cannot make a stand against what God has willed. "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."( John 17:17)
35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
Overshadow is a term the Spirit uses so the shadow is not merely what the source of lights casts but also is in the sense of similitude. "After our likeness" relates to the Word which was God and in the beginning was with God. Having made Jesus Christ as 'only begotten Son, he tells of his inheritance, which has its memorial as the four and twenty elders before the throne. So according to the principle of Similitude he has called saints 'after our likeness'. What is the role of Jesus Christ? He is the firstborn of all creation.
Gabriel as an angel is sent to Mary who is a virgin as the 144,000 standing with the Lamb on Mt. Sion are called.(Re.14:1-3) The terms refers to the word sanctifying the person thus chosen before the foundation of the world. "For with God nothing shall be impossible."(1:35) Matt.3:9
thank you, I don't know much about different churches, but when I type in something I don't understand, you get lots of different answers. That is why I was asking questions
I thought I was reading the bible on this site, and I could ask questions, apparently not. why are you on this site if it is not the bible, are you on here just to warn people away?
I ONLY WANTED TO LEARN MORE, thank you for the warning, I'm sure there is a website out there that teaches the bible and doesn't mind answering my questions
Good evening! Recently I wrote down this impression and likely many someones have said the same in their own words, also likely with a shorter sentence. :)
Jesus Christ being the second Adam is the hope and better entrance than the predestinated first estate of the eternal garden of rest for the descendants of the first parents Adam and Eve by our faith and by his will of obedience to the will of the Father.
Good evening brother Spencer! I understand the time especially in these times as working folks not getting any younger! Glad to hear from you and I will see if I can fit into the Great Commission with you while time last. We know Jesus is our covering and it is good news.
Day 65 on GOD's calendar, of 153 day count spring/summer Pentecost rapture. Sunday is the REAL sabbath day. Get In the Ark NOW! BEFORE the Rapture - You MUST Only Believe in Jesus of Nazareth's Death, Burial and Resurrection to be eternally saved. 1 Cor 15:1-4 & Acts 16:31
AFTER the Rapture - You MUST Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and Believe without shame. Romans 10:9-13
This is very good advise. There are many places on the internet that preach this false religion and KJB scriptures are not part of them. They should be avoided as should many other websites that claim they preach the truth when they are full of lies and false doctrine.
I don't know how involved you are with the Catholic Church, maybe not at all, but I'd like to give you a warning about this church just in case. I was raised a Catholic, but I left the church when I was 18 because I couldn't deal with the hypocrisy. I just knew (because of God) that they were false. Now I am a true Christian and I can understand even more how they have such a terrible influence over people with their evil doctrine; because those people don't seek out the truth like I eventually did.
My mother was always very devoted to the Catholic Church which was very sad for me. I had witnessed to her several times about the wonderful salvation experience through Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection but she was to proud to admit she was a sinner. Catholics teach that good works make the way for you to eventually get to heaven and because she considered herself a "good person" she didn't need to be forgiven for anything and so refused to believe what I was telling her, even though I used scriptures. I hope she had a death bed experience with Jesus. I wasn't with her but I hope I see her in heaven. I said all this to warn you to please stay away from this Church and it's false doctrine. God Bless :)
Dear Tdianne , may I please give you a piece of advice ? You say that you are trying to find out about God , then why not put the internet away and pick up the book that God Himself wrote , to us and for us , for the sole purpose of enabling us , to get to know Him , in and through His own Words to us ? The internet is written by humans . Weak , foolish , sinful humans . The Bible is written by God Almighty , the Creator and Sustainer of all life . Please consider what I say .
"And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords."
Here we see Jesus Christ, fulness of whom explained the significance the tabernacle in the wilderness. The Spirit while organising the Mind of God never loses focus on the Son for whom a day is decreed.(Ps.2:7). The sinful nation could not keep the physical realities of the house for God to dwell in. But Jesus Christ as the Lord from heaven is now presented the True tabernacle himself and is King of Kings, And Lord of Lords.
In the inaugural vision of St John he is seen in the midst of seven candlesticks and it evocative of the golden lamp stand in the holy place (Ex.25:31). "And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace;" Here again we have the allusion of the brazen altar (27:2) recalled. The saints following him are innumerable. "And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. " Their dress resonates with the material employed in the tabernacle.
The point is that the significance of the tabernacle is not in itself as stated but it is Person specific. "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him."(Col.1:16)
The Good man of the house exhorts his servants to be watchful. "Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh." So we need look at the house as that of God. "For every house is builded by someman; but he that built all thingsisGod." and the writer to the Hebrews is specific, "But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end."(He.3:4,6). Jesus places emphasis on his disciples to whom he is placing his trust before he left the earth. Many of his parables also lays stress on, "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come." (24:42)
His saints are double bonded because they have much to lose if they have been found careless and unprofitable. "Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing./Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods." (vv.46-47) All his goods include heaven the earth and lower parts. So while we are in our earthly tabernacle there is a building, "we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." Besides we have our service in heavenly places as kings and priests. It is which John in his vision alludes, they are the earnest of our inheritance as the indwelling Spirit signifies. The four and twenty elders testify, "And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth (Re.5:10). The position is also set out so this tabernacle is seen descending from heaven to the mid-air.
So the saints are like the memorial of 24 and symbolise the body, they have 'a new song' which is the key to believe that they are kept for a purpose. (Re.14:3) It is what we see in Re.19:14 "And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean." In the vision these saints are redeemed from the earth
Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:/ Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
Jesus while speaking of end times sets two worlds to which we are bound. Considering Judea in his time was a pastoral land he warns the man in the field not to bother to go inside to take his clothes for he is expected to be taken as he is. So abrupt his coming shall be. The v.39 is about disaster that is coming upon the world.St Paul refers to it. " For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape." (1 The.5:3) "And they shall not escape" There is a finality to the charade the world is presently engaged in. Greater this dumb show goes on more deceived are they who think the world shall come to some sense by all this talk about 'peace'. Jesus warns us as to how we should be,- with our loins girded and our shoulder to the yoke. "So shall also the coming of the Son of man be." What does house top indicate? For who are vigilant and living under the shadow of the almighty, it is our redemption. Our spiritual blessings in heavenly places, the world of the Spirit shall be clothed upon. (2 Co.5:4-5) The indwelling Spirit has given this hope so we groan within.
Matt.24:40-41
Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left./Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Similarly the two in the field are two witnesses. One of the Spirit and our soul is the beneficiary; while the other flesh and blood left. Flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. Of the two woman it is similar case. Millstone refers to one life "No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: for he taketh a man's life to pledge." Jesus is making a distinction between her inner life and physical world.
Good evening brother Spencer! Hope all is well for you and all. Very happy to see the discussion continuing! An another evening drop-in :). I have also been thinking how Adam and Eve were made the past many weeks. We know they were made very good as part of everything made in the sixth day. I would believe that having been made very good they had a covering at least by the hand of God himself by His image. Having been placed in the garden to dress and keep it was also good and they had all that they needed. And yet nakedness began by listening to a fellow creature rather than being obedient to the Word of the Father himself. The first couple fell into unbelief and sin and their nakedness was immediately known to each other. They now had no covering before the Father and could no longer remain in the garden. The Father however was Merciful and provided the Promise and covered them with skins for their protection as they entered into their own works no longer at rest.
Hello Tdianne. As Jaz shared, purgatory is a teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, where the belief is, "All who die in God's grace, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation; but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven" (according to the RC Catechism). So, they believe there is a place of purification & refining 'just short of Heaven' for those Christians who have died still with sin stains & in need of cleansing to enter Heaven.
This belief primarily comes from the Apocryphal Book 2 Maccabees 12:38-45, where Judas Maccabeus, a Jew, went to bury those of his men fallen in battle. But he found idolatrous items under those men which he believed was the reason for their death. So prayer was made for them that their sin would be forgiven and also took up an offering (of money) to be sent to Jerusalem as a sin offering. Judas believed that by doing these things, these fallen sinful men of his company might have a better chance of eternal life. We have no way of confirming this account as it is never referred to in the Bible we have, but since this book (and others) are in the canon of RC Scriptures, they accept it.
This account then gives them the directive that prayer for the dead & making penance for their souls is necessary. But what is not taken into account, is that what Maccabeus did was not what was prescribed by the LORD & should be discarded. So, it is important that we stick very closely with the Bible we have & not resort to spurious material - and especially the apocryphal writings written by often unknown writers in those 400 silent years where no prophecy was given from the LORD.
Hebrews 9:27 clearly tells us that after death comes judgement & nothing in-between. That Christ fully paid the price for our sins & stands as our Mediator in Heaven if we sin & seek Him for forgiveness ( 1 Timothy 2:5) - we can do nothing now to help those who have died.
Reading your comment,I would say there was a population in Eden ruled by an annointed Cherub, created by our GOD to protect the Garden,he was perfect in his ways from the Day that was created, till iniquity was found in him,and turned a thief and corrupt. And by him sin entered in the world,so our GOD cast him and the population of Eden to hell, the earth turned void and without form, and GOD delivered them into chains of darkness to be reserved unto the Judgment( 2Peter 2:4& Jude 1:6-7)of this current seventh and last Day.Take a look 1Corinthians 6:2-3.
Our GOD did not say:I will make one man, but make man(many). The Plan of GOD was to restore all things. Acts 4:19-21->19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. 20 And He shall send JESUS Christ, which before was preached unto you: 21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which GOD hath spoken(preached)by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.
In fact,GOD said:Let us make man,He was not alone. It is easy to understand because it is written that in JESUS,that is,in the beginning,GOD created the heavens and the earth(the 1st,2nd and 3rd heavens, and the heaven of heavens),and without JESUS nothing was made that was made.By the way,the 3rd heavenly place will be established from now on,even in this current millennium( Luke 20:35-36,combined with 1Corinthians 15:24-27+51-55,and Philippians 3:20-21).
The Word is GOD,GOD Himself,self-executing,understand?
Daniel 12:10
10Many shall be purified, made white, and tried;but the wicked shall do wickedly:none of the wicked shall understand;but the wise shall understand.
11From the time the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and abomination that makes desolate set up,there shall be 1290 days.
12Blessed is he that waits, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
My thinking is that Jesus' human nature could actually be tempted, but his divine nature could not, as James says that God cannot be tempted with evil, nor does he tempt anyone. But, because the Person of Jesus was the divine Son of the Father, though His humanity was tempted as tested, His divine Person caused His human nature to resist every temptation He ever faced in all of His 33 years on earth.
See part 2.
My thought continued. The first Adam left the garden in sin but with a promise and by mercy there would be a washing of regeneration and a renewing of the Holy Ghost in due time to those whom would believe.
Carleton
So good to hear from you.
I have a very small area I tried to grow some tomatoes and peppers but it didn't go well. Not enough sunlight. To many trees.
We did get one salad out of it.
Blessings
They were not clothed with Christ prior to their sinning"
Well stated!
Our righteousness is always described as a garment. Jesus is described as being clothed in light.
God bless.
When you ask a question
I ONLY WANTED TO LEARN MORE, thank you for the warning, I'm sure there is a website out there that teaches the bible and doesn't mind answering my questions
Jesus Christ being the second Adam is the hope and better entrance than the predestinated first estate of the eternal garden of rest for the descendants of the first parents Adam and Eve by our faith and by his will of obedience to the will of the Father.
Look forward to your thoughts.
How are you?
This is a important topic to understand the nature of man.
This topic will take us on into the Millennium when said and done.
Unfortunately I will have to wait until I can buy some time.
I will respond to you and others in due time.
God bless.
AFTER the Rapture - You MUST Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and Believe without shame. Romans 10:9-13
amen
This is very good advise. There are many places on the internet that preach this false religion and KJB scriptures are not part of them. They should be avoided as should many other websites that claim they preach the truth when they are full of lies and false doctrine.
Tdianne,, Stick with God's word. God Bless :)

JESUS's sacrifice lasts 738500 days
My thinking is that Jesus' human nature could actually be tempted, but his divine nature could not, as James says that God cannot be tempted with evil, nor does he tempt anyone. But, because the Person of Jesus was the divine Son of the Father, though His humanity was tempted as tested, His divine Person caused His human nature to resist every temptation He ever faced in all of His 33 years on earth.
Have a blessed night of rest, Ronald.
