Timeline for the Lastdays? In Mt.24:34 Jesus says Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. (For all things to be fulfilled, that would no doubt be the last generation, now when could that generation have started? When Israel became a nation in 1948. How long is a generation? Ps.90:10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. A generation is 70 years, but if by reason of strength it be 80 years, then that last 10 years would be a time of labour and sorrow! From 1948 to 2018 is 70 years. So by this verse we are 5 years into the time period the verse calls (labour) and (sorrow). (labour) #5999; toil, wearing effort, worry of body or mind, iniquity, miserable (-sery) pain (-ful) sorrow, trouble, wearisome, wickedness. (sorrow) #205; to pant, (hence to exert oneself) usually in vain, to come to naught, also trouble, vanity, wickedness, affliction, evil, false, unjust, unrighteous, vain, vanity, wicked (-ness) (The meanings of the words labour and sorrow in the oringinal languages show us exactly what we are dealing with and living today! And went it is cut off "we fly away" Any thoughts, anybody?

    Hi Teresa.

I would like to add to what Gigi has already shared.

You asked, "WHO is the CAUSE of suffering ?

I believe the cause of suffering goes back to the Garden of Eve.

All of God's creation was effected by the fall.

    We suffer physically and emotionally.

And we suffer persecution because of our new birth.

We have a sin nature in this EARTHY TABERNACLE.

Romans 5:12 says "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and SO DEATH PASSED UPON ALL MEN, FOR THAT ALL HAVE SINNED:

    Look at Romans 8:18-23.

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

8:20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

8:21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

8:22 FOR WE KNOW THAT THE WHOLE CREATION GROANETH AND TRAVAILETH IN PAIN TOGETHER UNTIL NOW.

8:23 AND NOT ONLY THEY, BUT OURSELVES ALSO, WHICH HAVE THE FIRSTFRUITS OF THE SPIRIT, EVEN WE OURSELVES GROAN WITHIN OURSELVES, WAITING FOR THE ADOPTION, TO WIT, THE REDEMPTION OF OUR BODY.

We see what it will be like when all God's creation is redeemed in

    Revelation 21:1-4.

    I hope this helps.

    God bless.

"For now we see through a glass, darkly; ..."( 1 Cor. 13:22)

There are enough descriptions of the heavenly city; the New Jerusalem to sufficiently convince our minds of the riches of His glory to come. One must; however get beyond what Satan himself beheld before his fall. All the riches of splendor are of no avail when the soul has become proud; corrupted and rotten. Compare this to the state of Adam after his fall when he saw an earthly paradise slowly decay to thorns in his garden; his progeny being about the first murder with Cain slaying Abel; and finally watching the antidiluvian world quickly spiral out of control hastening toward judgment before his own demise.

With both heaven and earth it is; of course God's glory which is the center of attention as He is the Creator of all things. The Spirit within testifies to our spirit that we are the children of God ( Romans 8:16). A dwelling place is being prepared for us suitable for our new roles as kings and priests; and eventually for us to partake in a new heaven and earth where there is no more death; and sorrow ( Rev. 5:10; 21:4).

Our earth at present is contaminated; ripe for judgment because of the sin of men; and fallen angels. Psalm 140:3 states that the "poison of asps is under their lips." There are numerous other verses about wicked men; and the fact that we were all enemies of Christ before being granted repentance ( Romans 5:10; 2 Tim. 2:25; etc.) Once we are saved; we stop looking within and focusing on ourselves; and we can look to Christ and His church as part of a future; a heavenly calling and thus truly be free to serve and love our Creator. The rest of the world; of course is caught up with created things; forgetting that the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God ( 1 Cor. 3:19). Thus; all the A.I. world with it's endless violence; cyber fantasies and other vain imaginations will as a vapor pass away as will all we hold dear to other than God in this world.

You're welcome GiGi. We should always remember Iron sharpens Iron! Nobody has all the answers from the Word of God. But the Lord is revealing His truth more every day. In Heb.4:12 it says for the word of God is (quick) and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword,. The word (quick) #2198; it means to live, (a-) live. The word of God is alive. Amen

    Damascus was a place mentioned several times in Old Testament, Genesis 14:15, Genesis 15:2, 2Samuel 8:5,6, 1Kings 11:1-25, 1Kings 19:14-18, 1Kings 20, 2Chronicles 16,

    2Kings 5,

    2Kings 8, notice 2Kings 8:12,13, 2Chronicles 24:23, 2Chronicles 28:5,23,

    Isaiah 7:8,9, Isaiah 8:4, Isaiah 10:9, Isaiah 17, James 1:5,

In the New Testament it's the road to Damascus was the place of Saul's conversion to Paul: Acts 9, Acts 22, Acts 26, it's symbolic to many Christians as a turning point in Christian faith.

GiGi thank you again. I stand firm on the Word of God meaning exactly what it says, I believe every Word of God is pure just like my Bible tells me. I believe every Word of God is preserved for ever just like my Bible tells me. I don't think modern versions have the integrity and good intent with their translations that you do. The following verse is in the KJB but missing in many of the modern versions, in my opinion there's a reason for that and it has nothing to do with good intentions! Acts.8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, ((I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God)). Again thank you GiGi.

Hello Richard. Although the English language has had continual changes over the years, it is generally accepted that the KJV, translated in 1611, eventually was revised in 1769 into today's (Modern) English.

According to a bar graph of the history of the English language, when the KJV was first translated (in what was called Early Modern English), this era began in the late 1400s till the early 1600s. So, in a sense, had the 1611 KJV translation work waited a little longer, it might have made it into the Modern English era. I wonder how those translators & printers would have felt when that change, however gradual, happened!

Jesus was the fulfillment of Scripture in the Old Testament. Luke 24:19-27, Psalms 22, Isaiah 53, Zechariah 13:6, & many more.

The Holy Scriptures are broken down in Books & Separated by New Testament & Old Testament, none of which have been accredited as authored by Jesus. However many believe all were written about Jesus (redemption ) The Old Testament is before Jesus was born. The New Testament begins with Jesus birth, death on cross, resurrection from the grave, the witnessed accounts of Jesus life, ministry, miracles. Then continues the Good News os Salvation & ministry of the Church. Christians & Messianic Jews believe in the New Testament as Christ The Messiah the promised everlasting savior. Psalms 93:2, 1Kings 9:5, Zechariah 6:12-13, Psalms 89:3,4, 1Chronicles 17:11-27, Hebrews 8,

Matthew 8:4, Jesus obeyed scripture, Mark 1:44, & Jesus parents on Earth obeyed scripture, Luke 2:22,

Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit = Luke 11, John 20:21-22, Luke 12, Acts 1:5, John 14:16,26, John 15:26,

    2Timothy 3:16

    Hello again Jimbob.

Since the KJV was written it may be the most printed (and sold) book IN ENGLISH. But through the centuries and also in many other countries, the Bible is written in other languages and therefore not the KJV. I can pretty much bet that there are more non-English KJV bibles in the hands of Christians around the world now and in the past that have out-sold the KJV. But that said, number of Bibles sold does not do anything to test the veracity of the KJV or any other Bible. Those people reading a non-english Bible (and therefore not a KJV) are still getting saved by what they read and hear preached in their language. The gospel is the power of God for salvation and the Holy Spirit uses it and Scripture to regenerate and teach those who are being saved. It is a work of God, not of man.

Jimbob, I don't think that I have much more to add to this conversation as I think that Chris has answered your inquiry very well. But i sense that you will stand firm on your ideas concerning the KJV, so, to me, for me to comment further is unfruitful.

    1John 1:9, Romans 7, Paul speaks of struggle, 1Corinthians 6:19,

    Romans 8, Psalms 139,

There are many people in scripture that were stressed to point of wanting death, even Jesus Matthew 26:38, however the ones that trusted in GOD had the best outcomes. Sometimes it seems things will stay bad but things will change & life is worth living! You have people you haven't met yet, beautiful things you haven't seen yet. You have a better relationship with GOD you haven't experienced yet, don't harm yourself. Jesus said "those forgiven much Love much." Luke 7:47,

I pray you seek the LORD, trust Him at His word 1John 1:9, & for a better day ahead. Read the scripture when you're feeling that way & keep praying. Maybe even speak to a counsellor.

Proverbs 6:16-19 lists seven things which are also abominations: "haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers."

    Curious-T,

I'm sorry if my response did not answer your question. Please allow a second shot at it.

You asked two questions. First question was if 1 Corinthians 1:18 means that we wear gold crosses around our necks?

My answer to that would be no.

Your second question: does 1 Corinthians 1:18 mean that we go to the tattoo parlor and ask for a cross to be etched/cut into our skin.

My answer to that would also be no. I gave you my understanding of what that verse means.

Again, your question is "Are we supposed to wear crosses on our necks?"

I do not know of any scripture that forbids it. There is scripture that speaks against idols and worship of idols. I suppose if a person does not worship or idolize a piece of jewelry or any other material possessions, that person would be okay.

Also, Luke 14:27 does not address your question. "Whosoever does not bear his cross" doesn't mean whosoever does not wear a cross around his neck.

What does it mean to bear ones cross?

Here in our culture, basically people understand it to mean whatever hardships I have to go through today, I'm just bearing my cross for Jesus. Except that whether you are a Christian or not, you are going to go through difficulties. It is not what it means.

When Jesus died on the cross, He died my death. In reference, you can read Romans 6:1-14, and Galatians 2:20.

What does it mean to take up your cross?

You see, when I received the life of Jesus Christ, I also received His death. That's why Paul can say in Philippians, "Oh that I might know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings."

Power to live and power to suffer go hand in hand. But they are not my sufferings. They are the sufferings of Christ. But when He died on the cross, He died my death. He died in my place therefore I have died. But my biggest struggle in life is that every day, my flesh is trying to get down off that cross.
  • Jimbob - In Reply - 2 years ago
GiGi thank you for your opinion. Jesus Christ was (The Word) that became flesh on this earth. The devil tried to tempt Jesus (The Word) in the wilderness by twisting scripture, think about that! If the devil tried to tempt Jesus Himself, why would the devil not try to deceive people by twisting scripture in the Lastdays to deceive people who think they are reading, and studying the True Word of God? In Ps.12:6-7 God promised to keep and preserve His Words for ever. The word (keep) #8104; it means guard, to protect. The word (preserve) #5341; it means to guard, to protect, maintain. The Word of God will never change. Do you think God is only guarding, protecting the original documents in the original languages? Do you have a copy of the originals? Do you know anybody who has a copy? Even if you did, who could read them? Rev.20:11-12 says at the great white throne judgment the dead will be judged by the books that are opened, out of those things which were written in the books. How could a Just God judge them from books that they had zero chance to possess, so they had no opportunity to read the True Word of God? As one of my comments above shows the books opened at the great white throne judgment will be the Words of Jesus Christ, see (Jn.12:47-48) There are many places in the Bible that tell us the Word of God will never change. Also The KJB is the most printed book of all time. Anybody has the opportunity to possess, to read, and study the True Words of God! One more thing, The KJB is the only Bible you can take the words back to the original languages to get the True meaning of the words ((in the original language)). You cant do that with modern versions because they changed so many words. God is in control of spreading His Truth for all to have a chance to have it. You can buy a KJB almost anywhere. Many people put their faith, or trust in the hands of man translating the KJB, God was in Control, and God doesn't make mistakes! Thank you again GiGi

    Hello Curious T.,

No, I don't believe we're supposed to wear crosses. Leviticus 26:1, nowhere does it say wear a cross, as jewelry. However it does say not to make idols.

Recently I thought, if a person had a friend that was killed by gunshot & had a miraculous recovery. How would he feel, if when he returned to his friends & family, they had an image of the gun or bullet around their neck, to honor him. I would think it would be upsetting to say the least. Wouldn't he say, "your missing the main point." isn't it the life lived?Jesus himself being the example of a loving life, helping others in need? & the hope & promise of resurrection. John 5:21-29, 1Corinthians 15:42-58, John 11:25, Ecclesiastes 5:15, 1Timothy 6:7,

Bare your cross: Luke 14, looking at context, whole chapter Jesus in doing the better thing by healing, suffered rejection, hate, wrongful judgement.

A cross is painful, it's obvious, on view for everyone to see, not something we can hide in our pocket. It causes ridicule & even division. Luke 14:11, Luke 14:12-14, Luke 14:17-20,24, Luke 14:26,27, also Matthew 10, note Matthew 10:36, Matthew 10:17,18, Matthew 10:21, Matthew 10:22, please read in context Matthew 10, Matthew 10:32-42, & Luke 9:22-26, also Matthew 16:21-28, Mark 8:29-38, Mark 10:14-52,

    Philippians 2:1-15, Colossians 1:10-29 ,

    Matthew 25:31-46, James 1:5,

    Hopefully these are helpful

Hello Jimbob, I have been following this conversation and I agree with Chris. The original documents in the original languages are God-breathed and inerrant. Every document that translators use for the sources of their translations is a copy of these original documents. There can be copy errors in these document any translation used as sources.

But God is Sovereign and from what I understand, has made sure that the Scriptures has been handled carefully in its copying and translating throughout the ages has been accurately preserved. There are some minor errors in all translations, but the major thrust and truth of the Scriptures is still preserved overall.

I am sure that you do not agree with this, and that is ok. I do not wish to go back and forth on this topic, but from what I have researched., the translations we have are faithful to the texts used for the translations with about 97% accuracy. We are blessed in this day and age to have the Bible translated in languages believers can read own and read for themselves. We also have the internet to use for reading passages in various translations. We should be thankful and appreciate the work of all who have attempted to translate the Scriptures with integrity and good intent, not only the KJV translators, but those who helped to translate other versions throughout the Christian age and before (as in the Septuagint).

    Teresa,

As Sammi said, people cause much of the suffering by our mistreatment of others and ourselves.

But, like the earthquake in Turkey/Syria and many illnesses that people can acquire, it is God who allows the suffering from these "natural" disasters and diseases. He created the viruses, bacteria, etc. that have plagued mankind since the fall. He created the earth's topography both above and below ground and changes that cause earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, etc.

Satan likes to afflict people as well, which God allows. Job is an example of that.

    Hi Brad Heffele,

The city of Philadelphia was in Asia Minor and controlled by Rome, it is today in Turkey a town called Ataehir the "city of Allah.". You can find what Jesus said to them in the letter sent to them in Rev.3:7-13. This city was almost destroyed in an earthquake in early AD. It was also a stronghold for Christianity when the Moslems overran Asia Minor it was one of the last to fall.

p.2) 2 Tim. 3:16 All (scripture) is given by (inspiration) of God, and is profitable for (doctrine), for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. (scripture) #1124; it means a document, i.e. holy Writ, (or its contents or a statement in it) to write, write (-ing,ten) (inspiration) #2315; it means divinely breathed in, given by inspiration of God. (doctrine) #1319; it means instruction, (the function or the infomation) learning, teaching. ((scripture)) means a document, so this inspired scripture, the Word of God is documented or written down in a book somewhere. ((inspiraton)) means God breathed, so that written document is God breathed. ((doctrine)) means instruction, learning, teaching. So this doctrine is our instructions from God and its what we learn from, or what we teach from, which ever Bible we use thats our doctrine. 2 Tim.4:3-4 For (the time will come) when ((they will not endure sound doctrine)), but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers having itching ears. 4. And (they shall turn away their ears) ((from the truth)), and shall be turned unto fables. (Turning from sound doctrine, this verse says we will have doctrine thats not sound) (sound) #5198; to be uncorrupt, (true in doctrine) 1 Tim.4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter days some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. (The latter days is now, so there are doctrines of devils for people to learn from and teach from today, where, or what could they be? The Words of the LORD are pure Words) In 2 Tim.2:15 we are told to Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, (rightly dividing the word of truth). How can we rightly divide the word of truth from 10 or 20 different Bibles that all have different words, and left out verses? We have a word of truth somewhere today or this verse would not say this, it is the KJB.

Chris thank you again. Chris you said with Rev.22:7 this blessing from the Lord Jesus is qualified by Rev.22:18-19 referring to the book of Revelation and not the KJB. Ok which Bible does that book of Revelation have to be in? The Niv? Which has several revised versions. The Amplified Bible? The Esv? The NLT? The CSB? The NASB? Did you know the NASB has been revised 3 times? Which one is the true inspired Word of God? Which one has the True Words of Jesus Christ that should not be added too, or taken away from? Even if you're right about that prophecy being about the book of Revelation then it still says you should not add unto, or take away from the words of the prophecy of this book. Every one of the Bibles I've listed have done just that, some have whole verses completely missing. All of them have different wording in almost every single verse. 1 Cor.1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye (all speak the same thing), and that (there be no divisions among you); but that (ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind) and in the same judgment. (If you have 10 different Bible versions, you give a different version to 10 different people and tell them to memorize the same verse in each of their modern version Bibles. Afterward would they all speak the same thing regarding that verse? Or would there be confusion, divisions among them? Would they be perfectly joined together in the same mind?) 1 Cor.14:33 For God is not the author of ((confusion)), but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. Confusion is exactly what that would create! ((confusion)) means instability, disorder, tumult, inconstant, unstable. (The word "inconstant" means Changing or varying, not stable or uniform. I got to go back to Jer.23:36 which says of the false prophets and pastors, ye have (perverted) the words of the living God. (perverted) means to change. ALL modern versions have changed the Words of the living God. p.1
