c. As I wrote previously on this subject, I won't push my belief on when the Marriage or Marriage Supper takes place. If the marriage is yet to take place, how do we understand 1 Corinthians 6:17? Is our joining to Christ merely a spiritual connection or have we become part of Christ's Body?
Paul in the previous verses 15 & 16, wrote about the body that is joined to an 'harlot' is actually unified with her. How can this possibly happen (amongst them), if they are also "joined to the Lord (becoming) one through the Spirit?" Our relationship to Jesus is not only secure but our union to Him is even closer than the union of husband & wife (if I can describe it as such). Our spiritual life, indeed our whole life has its first appeal to Jesus' Spirit, well before our physical connection to our spouse. What He does in our lives & hearts can never be duplicated by another - not even close.
Is this then our blessed marriage union to Jesus? But if it is to be argued that another (second) marriage (after that completed redemption has taken place) is to occur in Heaven (or Earth), then really, I wouldn't pursue that; I don't think that is a critical matter of teaching, especially in this subject we've been discussing, of the Rapture, the Great Tribulation & their sequence of occurrences. Blessings brother.
Thanks Jimbob. Briefly, referring to your points in these two pages.
a. Acts 2:17-20. If we note from verse 8, the peoples of surrounding nations heard these men speak in their languages, which they had not learned. Then Peter gave them his message: 'what you're hearing is God pouring out His Spirit on men, to which Joel spoke about"in the last days, I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh". This was the beginning of the Last Days & it has been ever since Jesus left this Earth & sent out His promised Spirit. And "they shall prophesy" as well. But the culmination of these Last Days is what you read in verses 19 & 20. And yes, the Comforter was promised to abide with us (the blood-bought Church) forever. But what happens when the Church is no longer here - and that "forever" day has arrived?
b. Ephesians 1:13 & Revelation 7:3,4 are not the same sealing, by virtue of that act & what is imparted. In the former, it is clearly the Holy Spirit Who seals the believer "Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory (v14)". He marks His Own, He is the "earnest of our inheritance" (Gk. arrabon = an advance part-payment guaranteeing our security), "until the redemption of the purchased possession" (the Holy Spirit remains in us & secures the believer until the redemptive work at the Cross is fully realized, i.e. Christ indeed fully paid the ransom for our redemption - but completed redemption is only realized until the body is returned back to our Redeemer: Romans 8:22,23).
In the Revelation 7:3,4 account, we are not told what the seal is & how it's applied; at least it seems to be a forehead mark (the Lord's imprint, unlike the false Christ's signature). If one should read this mark to be the Holy Spirit on their foreheads or His indwelling that results in an outward marking, then I have no other comment. All I can glean is that the world is now devoid of the Spirit's Presence & Work.
Beloved, the prayer of a righteous man works with great power. James 5:16. Have you received the forgiveness of sins? Believe in Jesus Christ and you will be righteous. That is all that He God the Father Himself expects us to believe in Jesus not only Jesus but also Christ. Acts 16:31 Then you also get to experience Heaven on Earth. For the kingdom of God dwells in us. Luke 17:21
We face temptations on a daily basis, it becomes like something you know you shouldn't do, then you do it anyway. Then the question is what is it dear to you. One can well imagine that this is not a good thing. It is important to distinguish between Spirit, Soul and body. Run to Jesus an pray for help.
The body has its everyday routine. Then we can expand this into many illegal things. If it is the meat that tempts us, we only have one choice. Run to Jesus, pray for it to go away. Then it also means that you have to capture every thought that comes up, after this pray of help. So that you don't think about it ever again
There is a difference here. The one who is a child, the one who is young, and the one who is old. Think about it. The Lord does not expect a child to drive a car. If there is anyone who cares for us all, it is the Lord. Think about the smallest little thing He is with. He is also involved in the big things. As Gods word said, the kingdom of God is within us who believe.
We learn as we go. We separate things from good and bad as we have been taught to do so. People are so different. Some hear well and others don't. This is completely individual. Thank God the Father for it is He who has made us this way.
And if our conscience says that what we are doing is wrong. May we sincerely ask for forgiveness and learn from it as best we can. Good luck on your journey towards Sanctification. Love u in Christ.
Hint: Try 1 day that suits and keep the thought of the Lord Jesus. Only on Him, see what's coming. He tells you good things. It will help you a lot and not think on other.
Correct David0920, except I wouldn't quite put it that way. Rather: 'if we seek to understand the spiritual message from Scripture that God has for us in His Word, without first applying proven & accepted biblical interpretative conventions on how we should approach the Bible, we can go off in any direction we want.' We can take many examples from the Word; I believe I gave one on 'the Lake of Fire'. How one interprets this place will demonstrate how one has approached this phrase.
I don't know your interpretation of it, but if one should say that it is an actual place of eternal torment, then that person has already applied those important rules (maybe unknowingly), that what the Scripture says of it, is certainly a literal place, both the original language, wording & grammar verify this, and other Scriptures support this view. But the one who disregards the rules of interpretation & is focussed only on searching for some spiritual Truth in every verse, may arrive at various conclusions; maybe: 'it is only a figurative expression of God's 'Work'; I have no interest or acceptance of what the Greek has to say about it; I even disregard Jesus' assurance of such a place, believing that He had (or, there is) another meaning for it.' In my experience, those who reject the normal conventions of interpretation, usually have little or no interest in hearing anything else. Why? Because it's not what the Spirit is showing me - I'm learning deeper Truths that others with 'carnal' minds cannot perceive, therefore all must be rejected to get to this 'gold that has to be dug out'.
And we could say the same of Luke 16:19-31, where many say that this was only a parable of Jesus, when this whole account repudiates the intent & meaning of a parable; and of course, if this belief is taken to its end, it would make Jesus a deceiver & a scare-monger. But comfort is falsely taken that this must be a parable giving a spiritual meaning & warning, thus making Jesus true to His Word.
By and large, those churches that teach to baptize only in the name of Jesus are churches that deny the God is a Trinity of persons. They subscribe to "modalism" which says that God is only one Person and reveals and acts in history in the role of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I think that to deny the trinitarian nature of the Godhead contradicts Scripture in many ways.
S Spencer Thanks for the reply. You said "By the context of 1.Thes. and 2.Thes. they knew the order of events Paul was telling them, 1st the rapture. 2nd the man of sin revealed. 3rd the day of the Lord. ((The order of events are very clear in 2.Thes.2:1,3)) (1) Now we beseech you brethren, by the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him. (The subject here is the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together unto Him) (3) Let no man deceive you by any means, for ((that day shall not come)) (WHAT DAY? The coming of the Lord Jesus Christ when we gather together unto Him) except there come a falling away first, (There will be a falling away first, it is happening now) and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition. (The son of perdition is the antichrist who must be revealed BEFORE the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together unto Him happens. If the antichrist is revealed before the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together unto Him, doesn't that disprove a rapture before the tribulation? ((This order of events is in context)).
Chris I do Believe that Every Word of God is Truth. I'm not sure if you agree with that or not? As you know Rev.19:7-9 is the only place in the Word of God that tells us of the marriage supper of the Lamb, lets look at Rev.19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. (This verse says ((the marriage of the Lamb is come, it doesn't say the supper in this verse)) the word (marriage) is #1062; it means nuptials, marriage, WEDDING. This Is the marriage of the Lamb, the Wedding. This is a Special event or it wouldn't be in the Word of God. Let us be glad, and rejoice, and give honour to Him, For the marriage of the Lamb is come. This marriage must be in heaven because we see in v.11 heaven opened, and behold a white horse, the rider of the white horse is Jesus Christ v.14 tells us and the armies that were in heaven followed Him upon white horse, out of heaven!! They come from heaven to the earth. Those returning with Him are those who were at the marriage of the Lamb with Him, at the marriage they were arrayed in fine linen, clean and white. Those riding white horses from heaven with Him are clothed in fine linen, white and clean. The marriage of the Lamb is a Wedding and it will happen IN HEAVEN! Thanks again Chris.
Whether or not you believe in God, this message is a "must-read"!!!
All throughout time, we can see how we have been strategically conditioned to come to this point where we are on the verge of a cashless society. Did you know that Jesus foretold of this event almost 2,000 years ago?
In the book of Revelation 13:16-18, it states,
"He (the false prophet who deceives many by his miracles-- Revelation 19:20) causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666."
Speaking to the last generation, this could only be speaking of a cashless society. Why so? Revelation 13:17 says that we cannot buy or sell unless we receive the mark of the beast. If physical money was still in use, we could buy or sell with one another without receiving the mark. This would contradict scripture that states we need the mark to buy or sell!
These verses could not be referring to something purely spiritual as scripture references two physical locations (our right hand or forehead) stating the mark will be on one "OR" the other. If this mark was purely spiritual, it would indicate both places, or one--not one OR the other!

Thanks for responding and sorry for such a delay on my response back. I normally can't engage until the weekend due to my work schedule.
Here's my view on this.
We are the light of the world, (The oil filled Lamps.)
In 1 Thessalonians 5:3-5. we see this light mentioned in the believers in connection with the Day of the Lord. (As already established; "Not to be mistaken for the tribulation! but what is interesting is "If" the Holyspirit is taken out of the way/Removed and no longer restraining, then the children of light would become as those who sleep in the night!
He that comforts us, enlighten us and keeps us is no longer doing it and by nature we love Darkness. John 3:19.
Jesus says he will never leave us comfortless. John 14:16-20.
John 15:19. Because of this verse we should see it is not a worldly entity that desires or even capable of restraining evil.
We have three enemies that pushes back against Holiness, Our flesh, the world and the prince of the two, "Satan"
We have one source that empowers, but yet "PERMITS" That's the Holyspirit. We see the involvement and power of the Holyspirit shepherding his Church against these three enemies.
Romans 8:9-15. (The flesh)
1 John 4:4. (Satan)
John 14:16-20. (The World.).
2 Thessalonians 2:1-7. The subject here is the Thessalonians thought the day of the Lord was at hand! Paul says that day shall not come, except there come a apostasy first, and that man of sin be revealed. Paul goes on to say; Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
He is refering to 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. He is reminding them.
By the context of 1 Thessalonians and 2 Thessalonians, they knew the order of events Paul was telling them. 1st The rapture. 2nd The man of sin revealed. 3rd the day of the Lord. (Wherefore comfort one another with these words.)
The Church is removed and the Holyspirit operates as it did in the Old Testament.
Chris thank you for your response. I got a lot to reply to but I'm going to start with your 2nd page. You said The Holy Spirit is not evident during the sealing of the 144,000 in Rev. Ch.7, you said "all that is taking place with the survivors who learned to cleave to the Lord and His Word during Great Tribulation have done so without the aid of the Holy Spirit." We are told in Jn.14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that ((he may abide with you for ever)). the (Comforter is the Holy Spirit) and ((He will abide with us for ever)). We are told in Acts.2:17-20 (17) And it shall come to pass ((in the last days)), saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: (18) And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: (19) And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood and fire, and vapour of smoke: (God will pour out His Spirit on all flesh, and they shall prophesy. WHEN? The next verse tells us (20) The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, BEFORE that great and notable day of the Lord come. (Gods Spirit is poured out on all flesh just (before) the great and notable day of the Lord come). Eph.1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, YE WERE ((SEALED WITH THAT HOLY SPIRIT)) OF PROMISE. Rev.7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have (sealed) the servants of our God in their foreheads. These verses tell us the Holy Spirit will be with us for ever, and that God will pour out His Spirit upon ALL FLESH (before) that great and notable day of the Lord come. Also they were ((sealed)) with the Holy Spirit. Thank you Chris, I will finish with the marriage supper with p.2

There really isn't much more that I can add to what I've already said on the matter at this point.
My hope is that, if nothing else, this whole discussion has caused some, including myself, to carefully examine our approach to the Bible in the light of what the Bible declares.
The Bible alone and in its entirety must be our authority.
Let me just say this in response to your "parting of the ways" comment.
What you are really saying, as I understand it, is that if we apply the principles that God lays down in His Word for approaching and interpreting the Bible, without first applying our own reason and logic and conventional wisdom to how we approach the Bible, we can go off in any direction we want.
Frankly, I see just the opposite. We must first apply the principles that God defines in His Word as to how we are to interpret the Bible. And any conventional rules that man's wisdom may have developed must be subservient to God's rules.
Carefully applying God's rules actually keeps us on the right track. Failing to do so can lead us down a rabbit hole from which we might not emerge.
Ultimately, it is God Himself that must open our spiritual eyes to truth from the Scriptures, as the Bible itself declares.
David 0920. Yes indeed, "Christ spoke in parables" to the multitudes, and He did so for a particular reason: Matthew 13:13-15,35. I realize that there is a point that you're aiming for here, so I won't proceed with this unless you wish to develop it. But to state at the outset, what Jesus shared with the people in parables (earthly stories with a kingdom principle) cannot be related to everything (or, most things) that the Bible declares. A parable has a specific meaning & format. But clear literal statements of persons, events, or Kingdom living cannot be admitted as parables. Even the OT mention of 'parables', holds a different meaning to what we read of Jesus' Words. Metaphors or allegories are employed throughout the Scriptures, but even these are clearly discerned & are not parables. I'll stop here; I assume that the Bible teacher you referred to hasn't got his messages on this subject, on the Web - I would like to listen to his take on this.
Thank you David0920 for sharing that. I think we will have to part from each other on this matter. As much as I can understand & appreciate what you've given as the right way to approach the Bible, I still maintain that there is still a fundamental mind-set & approach we must have before we even first open those sacred pages. If we throw out those essential rules, then we can do or interpret anything we want, to God's Word, all under the guise of being Spirit-led & inspired. I know that the Spirit can & will do all that is necessary to guide us into all Truth, but how many are actually believing what the Spirit reveals & how their own perceptions & coloring of the Scripture assures them of the 'truth', their 'truth'.
An example that comes to mind: Psalm 82:6 states, "I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High." And Jesus refers to it in John 10:34, "Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?" The answer? 'from those Scriptures, all God's children are also gods'. I doubt if you believe that. Rather, using the basic tools first, will help us understand what is meant.
Even for example, the Bible translators, had to be firmly grounded on a set of established rules & patterns of their work before they could even begin (& the same goes for those in Bible translation today, working amongst various people groups). If the basic laws are not adhered to, I wonder what sort of mess the work of Bible translation (& even expository deliveries) would find themselves in. And by the way, I see no difference in those translating the Bible from original texts to those of us who have the Bible in our hands & read it with both understanding & discernment of the Truths within. We need those rules so as to rightly divide the Word. The Holy Spirit will then take us into a deeper understanding & application of those Truths, which makes the Bible more than a record of historical events, which is so to many casual readers.
I know I'm being repetitive here. But for that I'm not apologizing because there is a principle that I think few recognize and apply.
And that is Christ spoke in parables and without a parable spoke He not.
I am saying this, Chris, not because I am wiser than anyone else and discovered this principle on my own. But I was very fortunate to have listened for a long time to a faithful Bible teacher that taught this. Once understood, and very very carefully applied I might add, causes many many passages in the scripture, which seem to make no sense at all, or are exceptionally difficult to understand, open up tremendously. And it also has the effect of absolutely confirming over and over again that the Bible truly is the WORD OF GOD, Himself.
David0920. The anti-Christ certainly gives every resemblance of Satan himself. But to use those principles of Hermeneutics I hold to (that of literal, contextual, & Scripture with Scripture rules), I note in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 (he is called the 'man of sinson of perdition'); and verse 9 (anti-Christ appears on the scene 'doing the works of Satan'). The wording & context itself suggests strongly that this is a person, not Satan, but given all the powers of that wicked one that virtually makes him Satan incarnate.
I agree, that essentially this is a battle in the spiritual realm, even as the enemy of our souls comes against Christ & all who've chosen not to obey Satan, but here we see a physical representation, if you will, of Satan; one raised for this final onslaught, "whom the Lord will destroy with the brightness of his coming", the one called "the beast & his false prophet" ( Revelation 19:20) finally cast into the Lake of Fire. And then "the dragon, that old serpent (of olden times), which is the Devil and Satan, will be bound a thousand years" ( Revelation 20:2). I believe these verses should convince us that three separate persons filled with evil are being revealed here but all hold to that foul & wicked spirit.
I really love this chapter. It shows us the value of having the Holy Spirit indwelling and guiding the apostles and believers of his day. I am so glad the Spirit guided Paul and others to write down the teachings of the Holy Spirit for believers as well as preaching vocally to the churches of as they were created by God through the apostles.
And I am thankful that all believers, even us today, also have the Holy Spirit indwelling and guiding us, not to give us new revelation, but to confirm to our minds and souls that what is recorded in Scripture is truly the inerrant words of God for all believers and the Gospel is the power of God for salvation for yet to be believers. Unbelievers cannot make sense of the Scriptures unless the Holy Spirit spiritually opens their eyes to the Gospel first.
It is amazing that what is contained in Scripture is used by the Holy Spirit to operate as life-long instruction to believers. We can study the Word all of our lives and all along the way we continue to learn from the words God included in the Scriptures. The Holy Spirit keeps drawing us back to Scriptures over and over again in order that we will not only be trained and shaped by the Scriptures, but also to receive the power that He has put into His Words to transform us to be more and more like Jesus. It is also our clear lens by which to observe and interpret our world and our history, past and present. What a blessing upon blessing it is to have the Spirit within us and the Scriptures in tangible form to read and share.
Thanks brother Giannis. I also noticed that in the Greek Lexicon but didn't want to take my comment to that detail; as well, in my ignorance of the language, I was unsure why the two genders were being used in verses pertaining to the same person. But you see that both the Holy Spirit & the Church (the 'he' and 'it') are reflected in those verses. Thanks very much for that clarification.
I hope that you are doing well. I continue to pray for your kids and mine and others who have grown children that have strayed away from the Lord. How are your kids doing?
You may want to very carefully consider the verses below. If you are suggesting that God somehow speaks direct to us in a voice or a dream or a vision or a tongue once the Bible was completed, you are walking on very dangerous ground based on Rev 20:18,19.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Revelation 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
Revelation 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
They ask Jesus what shall be the sign of thy coming and the end of the world....Matthews 24:3....And he mentions sorrows....Child birth...b/c i have spoken these words ( his seeds ) sorrows have filled your hearts....A spritual pregnancy...When a woman is in travail she has sorrows but after the Child comes her sorrows are turned into joy....Ye now have sorrows but I will see you again....Whosoever receives one such Child in my name receives me....Its only the H.G. that Child of promise that comes in his name...And he shall be called by a new name that the mouth of the lord will name....Simply b/c Jesus is the father of the Child....As Isaiah refers to Jesus as everlasting father....The Child is the H.G. that Child of PROMISE...Whosoever receiveth one such child in my name receiveth me....Thats y he has to know us...B/c i have spoken these words ( his Seeds ) sorrows have filled your hearts a spiritual pregnancy....The substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen....As the Child is the H.G.

2 Thessalonians 2:4 parallels with Matthew 24:15.

May God in His Mercy so do.
Thanks
Jesus spoke plenty not in parables, like i thirst. This is literal, not a metaphor.
Not sure your intent about the Bible is Jesus. The Word is a metaphor, Jesus is not a physical book. Sounds like some new age stuff to me.
Thank you for your response.
Wy did you change your name on this site?
