    Hi Jesse,

I understand in delays in replies many work and have family responsibilities. This subject is being discussed by several people and I just wanted to share a few points of my understanding on it. The questions were not directed towards you, you can reply to them if you want but they were some of the questions I wrote down when I was studying this subject because some Scriptures seem to support both understandings if not deeply studied, not saying you have not.

Scripture tells us God is love, 1 John 4:8,16 and we have been told God does not have pleasure in the death of the wicked, Ezekiel 33:11 caries us to John 3:16 God does not want us to perish. The Bible tells us the soul that sinneth will die, Ezekiel 18:4 God preserves the souls of the saints Psalms 97:10 the faith and belief in Jesus by the grace of God can save our soul Hebrews 10:39.

Scripture tells us of various degrees of punishment like in Luke 12:46-48 Revelation 21:8. In Genesis 2:7 man became a living soul/being, my understanding is the breath of God is the spirit of life which goes back to God when we die whether lost or saved and this body becomes a dead soul that sleeps in the dust until resurrection then the judgment Revelation 20.

To repeat, eternal life is our promise it is something we do not have, only by faith and belief in Jesus Christ by the grace of God we will receive this gift when we are resurrected not before. If we say our souls are immortal, we are saying we already have eternal life, and it is just where are we going to spend it?

My understanding is the lost and wicked punishment is eternal forever, not the punishing, Satan and the fallen angels the beast and false profit will be tormented day and night for ever and ever as we see in Revelation 20:10, but they are not mortal beings like we are, and we see in Matthew 25:41 it was originally prepared for them.

Just my understanding of Scripture thanks again.

    God bless,

    RLW

Sorry Jesse , I did reply to you but forgot to put it in the 'reply' bit . As for what I'm looking for , nothing ! I love reading this site and I'm sometimes moved to comment , it's as simple as that . I'm not an experienced commentator on the internet , just and ordinary person . Hope that is helpful to you and sorry if I've caused you any annoyance :) .

I've always wondered about that , a month in the Bible is 28 days , a lunar month , why was that changed ? Does anyone know please ?
  • Jema - In Reply - 1 year ago
I agree but remember , God is able to save those that are His from anything . Think of the Israelites in Egypt , all around them these awful plagues were causing chaos with the Egyptians but the Israelites just did as they were told and none of these plagues touched them . They went behind their doors that had been smeared in the blood of the lamb . That was sufficient to keep them safe and it's sufficient for us too . Don't be afraid , God sees you and knows you and you are His .

    Matt.5:14-16 "City on a hill"

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid./ Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house./ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

This is set as a light of Zion out of which the law shall go forth. "Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined./Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.

."(Ps.50:1-6) In this context every believer is to set the light on the candle-stand, which as the vision of Zechariah tell is a single stem, all gold with two olive trees on left and right(4:2). Without abiding in Christ, or seeing through his light, which is true one is setting it under a bushel or under his bed.

Heart of man is a tabernacle, so when we speak of our position in relation to Christ our Redeemer Lord on a sure ground because his right arm "brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him". He is the one who shall fight our battles for us. He is the full armor of God to which the Isaiah passage refers.(Is.59:16). The above mentioned quote over Zion is set between from the rising of the sun unto the sunset, a day. This is the day decreed for the Son.(Ps.2:7-8). The mighty God, even the Lord, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof. In v.6 we have the certainty that God shall judge. "Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice./And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself.

"But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end." It is thus we make sense of the will from both worlds of the Father-Son relationship.

    Goodmorning all.

For those who was on the site around three years ago, doesn't these tense conversations seem strikingly familiar when we had Sascha from the EU on the site? Very Very similar.

Not to throw any shade on Sascha but she left the site several times and returned with a new name several times.

She admitted she had trouble loving the others "especially men" She said she was ultra sensitive, And it was all around 2 topics. The Trinity and Hell.

    Just a thought.

Tunney , a great thing to do . I believe that Jerusalem will only see true peace when Christ returns so , to pray for the peace of Jerusalem is , I think , to pray for the return of Christ . We can do no better than that :) .

:) yes , great post , I really don't understand why people can't see this . If we thought about things a bit more careful we would all have wondered why Lazarus didn't tell us all about the 'after life ' . We all , including me , need to put ourselves right there in that moment , I think some people find the Bible a bit abstract , a bit detached , but all the people we read about are humans just like us , they would think and feel and say the kind of things that we would if we were there in person . We need to try to put ourselves right there and consider , how would we feel ? What would we think ? What questions would we ask ? If Lazarus , being a human , had gone to heaven he would have told us all about it and everyone who believed that we go to heaven would have asked him about it , as you said , where is that discourse ?

Hello Jesse , I'm sorry , I didn't realise that there are rules ? I'm not familiar with chat room etiquette , I didn't know about 'threads' . If I'm not directly replying to some one then I just post on ' new comment ' , is that wrong ? Am I not allowed to just post a random comment as I'm reading this site and feel inclined to say something ? Most of the time when I am just commenting I have no intention of starting a 'thread' or even getting a reply . Sorry about my lack of knowledge regarding chat room etiquette , I just post as I feel . Is that wrong of me ?

Matt.6:1-4 "Left Right; Open and Closed" (2 of 2)

The Samaritan was the good neighbor because he stood in the place of Jesus Christ. The same 'arm' that bought salvation is qualified as the right arm. It is thus God in sending his Son to the world would determine how goats shall be separated from the sheep. In short either we are one with him or at odds with him."When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:/And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:/And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left." (25:31-33)

We do in the place of the Son that does not require any beating of the drum as hypocrites do so they want praises of men for what was their duty to do in the first place. Our mercy and our prayers are done in closet and between God and man. It is how we abide in Christ and do as though Christ in us did. This explains v.3, "Let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth."

4That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
  • Bennymkje - 1 year ago
Matt.6 1-4 Left right; open and closed" (1 of 2)

"Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward."

Alms giving in a manner of speaking is noticing one who is created in the selfsame image. Mercy acknowledges another irrespective of their circumstances, and serve in whatever capacity as a brother to another or as a father to one in need of consolation. Is it not wonderful for man that he for once settled on an universal symbol to converse. A pittance to a widow in need salves the conscience of man but when the widow in question puts two mites in the collection drew the breath of Jesus away."but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had,"He observed. ( Luke 21:1-4) Rich are those who out of abundance toss much more without counting. There is not mercy per se but an irksome task to get over with. It is similar to the Levite in the Parable of the Good Samaritan who "came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side." ( Luke 10:32). The Samaritan who was not obliged according to the social mores or custom of the day to help but he did for no other reason that Jesus was an intercessor. As Isaiah said, "And wondered thatthere wasno intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him."(Is.59:16). The Samaritan was the good neighbor because he stood the place of Jesus Christ. The same 'arm' that bought salvation is qualified as the right arm. It is thus God in sending his Son to the world would determine how goats shall be separated from the sheep. In short either we are one with him or at odds with him.

You comment here to me, Shabbat Keeper, seems out of place from what Valmar's post was about & my question to her. So, I can't give you an answer because I don't understand your connection about Lazarus & what has been presented.
  • Adam - In Reply - 1 year ago
Hello sir, you asked a lot of questions here, so I will focus on your first one and your conclusion of "who can know for sure". I assume you believe there's an absolute truth and believe the Bible is true. The words written in the Bible are true. We do have a truth discernment problem in our society today, especially. Much of the news are lies. Some prefer the lies, because truth is inconvenient. I don't know why this subject has any uproar. I think 99.9% of people believe the earth is a globe, because it is.

The flat earth theory is an easy one to debunk, because of (1) scripture, and (2) God-given logic.

    1. Bible calls the earth a circle. It didn't say it was a pancake or a snow half-globe. God never warned us not to go some places on the earth for fear of falling off?

    2. God-given logic. I've never met someone who believes in a flat earth who has travelled the world. If you fly the same direction you end up back where you started and you started. People have sailed around the world. Ships and planes do this regularly. Seasons: seasons in northern hemisphere are opposite as southern hemisphere. Day/night are also different, consistent with rotation of globe towards sun. Obviously these things prove the earth is a globe, but if someone still isn't convinced, all you have to do is measure shadows. If earth was flat all shadows would be consistent throughout the world. All you have to do is facetime or do a zoom meeting with someone in different parts of the earth and measure shadows while you talk to them. At noon your shadow is different than at dusk and at night, obviously.

It's also odd how we can look at moon, sun, stars, and planets in space and they're all obviously spherical, but yet assume earth isn't also spherical. Tons of video photos.

So we already know the truth, but you're asking how can we know for sure as if the truth isn't already known. Praying to know the truth is a good idea in addition to using what God has already provided us. God bless.

    Matt.5:33-36 "Thine oaths" (2 of 2)

Recapping this chapter it sounds as though the Spirit is presenting the Mission Statement of the Kingdom of God. The Evangelist sets for the occasion, a high mountain which represents Zion founded in heaven. Spiritually facets of the holiness of God shall be revealed in the manner his Son made manifest. Historically his humility as revealed many saints of old and their excellence is a commentary on Israel as His chosen people failed to do. It is already revealed in the lives of patriarchs who out of envy and evil sold Joseph as the nation dealt with Jesus who was the Word made flesh. They would have killed him but for the intervention of the scapegrace Reuben. "Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him." The word 'pit' connects with the death and resurrection of Jesus."Ye that seek the Lord: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. "(Is.51:1;Ge.37:22) Joseph made manifest the passage in vv.44-47

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;/ That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust./For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?/And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?" The Spirit sets events and persons within direct context of the Son. Joseph is another example. Even the terms as 'pit' and 'similitude' are meant to connect.

Love of God is much more than tit for tat. Walking the extra mile covering the distance tells as much about deeper experience in making His love your own. Christian Living is not be seen of the world for their praise but walk by faith and not by sight.

    Matt.5:33-36 "Thine oaths" (1 of 2)

" Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black." Sermon on the Mount is a compilation of the holiness of God that has been made manifest by holy men of Old. We mentioned the name of Moses who had beheld after the similitude of the Lord, signifying the Son. In the key text we can trace the terrible domestic tragedy of Jephthah. The Spirit of Christ made him a mighty man of valor as he made Moses the meekest of all men. All their exploits and their excellence are but examples of the holiness of God and its source must be traced to the Son, who is the visible image of God, the Father. Jephthah erred in missing the connection. "Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD" This saying of Jeremiah came from the Lord. (Je.17:5). How Jephthah missed or Rueben defiled his father's bed have one thing in common. They do not put themselves in place of the Son. How are we to view our own ministry? "So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do."( Luke 17:10) We are running the ministry on the slipstream of the Spirit of Christ and the sovereignty of the word sent forth by God.

Where Reuben failed Joseph gained control over his flesh at the house of Potiphar. He won it 'for my sake.' He suffered as Jesus would suffer in the generation of adulterous and the wicked. So far we have understood the doctrine of God is same as that of the Son since he perfected is Will. "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him."( John 7:16-18) Either we rely on our own flesh or do it as though Christ in us did

Chris, when Martha's brother, Lazarus, died what did Jesus say? Jesus said, "Lazarus is sleeping". Then, Jesus clarified, "Lazarus is dead". When Lazarus came back from the dead, did he complain? "Hey! I was having a great time in heaven! Why did you bring me back?". Did Lazarus tell everyone what he was doing in heaven? Where is Lazarus account of his time in heaven?

There isn't an account because Lazarus was sleeping.

    Hello all,

Here is a topic that is sure to get everyone on this forum in an uproar: the flat earth

Is the earth flat? When all eyes see Jesus return, how can that be unless the earth is flat? Is the Bible a flat earth book? The Tower of Babel was being built into the sky, and God stopped it. Is that because he gave the earth to man, but the heavens belong to him?

Is NASA run by free masons? Is outer space real? If all the astronauts are free masons, does that mean they were complicit? Did we really go into space? Was Capernicus a Catholic? Is there a conspiracy hiding the truth of our earthly home? Are they trying to hide God from us? God's calendar uses the moon, but the papal system switched all of us to the sun. Why?

So many questions. So many conspiracies. What the heck is going on? Who can know for sure?

LORD God, please help us know what is true. Lead us towards you, through the confusion. Amen.

Remember: Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of GOD- Romans 10:17. The Word is GOD, understand? Yes, the Word is the invisible GOD, self-executable. For example: The Word said: Isaiah 7:14 - Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a VIRGIN shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

The Word said(the Word is GOD): Isaiah 9:6-7:

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with Judgment and with Justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. (By the way, GOD calleth those things which be not as though they were- Romans 4:17-understand? The Word is GOD, self-executing).

Have you never read Hebrews 11 ?

    Hello Chris,

Well , happily for us, this question is not a salvific issue. The LORD gives all a free will to determine what's what.

May the LORD bless your continued studies. :)

Please know that I am not ignoring you. And no, I am not offended at all. You have some questions but I am not sure if you are looking for me to answer any of them as you said these are questions that you have asked yourself. As you stated, we do have a different understanding on this topic.

Please let me know if you would like me to respond to any of these questions. Thanks!

    God bless!!!
