I am having a hard time praying lately, I know I am not close to the Lord as I once was and as I need and want to be... I personally am no Calvinist, and truly am developing a hatred for this theology..... It is so hurtful and damaging personally because it is coming from someone so close to me it hurts so bad... I really am thanks for all your insight and yes I agree I need to pray more!.. Love in Christ, Amanda...

    Continuation in Matthew, (Part 18):

Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

This is one of the great verses in the bible, and probably the most debated verse in the bible, so we'll skip it. No, just kidding!

First of all, Jesus says "thou art Peter." The Greek word for Peter is PETROS, which means a small rock or stone. The word for rock that was used for Jesus is PETRA. It looks like they are from the same word. One is masculine and one is feminine. PETRA is a massive rock, a foundation stone.

So, we are talking about a little pebble. That is what PETROS is. And a PETRA is like a cement slab, a foundation. The two words are not even close in identification. And so, people argue and debate and say, thou art Peter, PETROS, and upon this rock PETRA, I will build my church. They say that since it is not the same word as Peter, then maybe PETRA refers to his confession, that everybody that makes the confession that Peter made they will be the ones that will make up the church.

Others say that it makes reference to Peter and that the church is based or built on Peter, and that he's the foundation of the church. Religious groups held up this view for many, many years. At least one group still does.

Well, what is interesting here is that PETRA, and we are just going to follow the word PETRA, because PETROS is for Peter. That is it. In 1 Corinthians 10:4, concerning the children of Israel going through the wilderness, Paul says, and they did all drink the same spiritual drink, for they drank of that spiritual rock, PETRA, that followed them and that rock, PETRA, was Christ. So, PETRA was Christ 1 Corinthians 10:4.

    Continuation in Matthew, (Part 17):

Matthew 16:16 - And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Some people say, "wait a minute, it says Son of God!"

    Something very important to understand:

There are a few Greek words in the New Testament for the word son. The verb form to give birth is TIKTO. The noun form that names the child that has experienced the birth is called a TEKNON.

So, people go from door-to-door, and they tell you that Jesus can't be God because He was the Son of God. And as a son, He had to be born. And they also say that not only is there God the Father, but there has to be god the mother because you can't have a son unless you have a father and a mother. They say that God the Father and god the mother are in heaven and Jesus is their son. And the son can't be the Father, they can't be the same people. Good grief!

Well, you got to love the Greek because this word for son has nothing to do with birth. It is the word HUIOS. Jesus is never called a TEKNON in the scriptures. TEKNON means a child by birth. A HUIOS is someone who inherits the estate from his father. He is in line to inherit the estate. And what happened was Jesus said that He came as the Son, and the Father has given all things into His hands. Everybody is going to have to answer to Jesus Christ!

When He said, "the Son of the living God," that's a title of God to the Jews. What Peter was confessing was you are the Messiah and you are God.

Matthew 16:17 - And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

The term bar Jonah, bar is the word son in Aramaic. So, He says Simon the son of Jonah. He says blessed art thou, and there's our word MAKARIOS we saw in the beatitudes.

It means to experience the fullness of something. He's telling Peter that you have been illuminated, enlightened, and it is a revelation from God.

    Continuation in Matthew, (Part 16):

Matthew 15:22 - And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

First of all, she is a Gentile, a Canaanite woman. Secondly, notice her plea: She says, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. Literally, "my daughter is severely demonized." That is the literal translation from the Greek text. Interesting!

Matthew 16:8 - Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

And when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith. Now I want to share this with you. Where it says "O ye of little faith," that is all one word in the Greek text, and it is a title. To have "little faith" is to have no faith!

    Continuation in Matthew, (Part 15):

Matthew 14:9 - And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.

Herod was sorry. I want to share something about this word "sorry" because sometimes people say sorry, and we just take it as a grain of salt, and we move on. But the Greek word used in this verse is the word LUPAY, which means that he was literally grieved. Not just sorry, but literally he grieved! But he gave the commandment because he had to in front of all of his friends.

Matthew 14:26 - And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

The word spirit in Greek is PHANTASMA, and it where we get our English word phantom from. They thought He was a ghost. It is not the word for spirit. It is the word for ghost. They thought He was a ghost and they cried out.

Matthew 14:27 - But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

But straightway, or immediately, Jesus spake unto them saying, be of good cheer. Literally be of courage. He didn't mean be happy. He just meant, have some courage here guys!

But please notice this. Jesus says it is I, except in the Greek it doesn't say it is I. It says AYGO AYMI, or I AM, and that's the name of God, Jehovah God in the Old Testament. He says, be of courage, I AM! Do not be afraid!

Matthew 14:28 - And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

Peter answered and said unto him, Lord, if it be thou, and in the Greek text that is called the first-class condition assumed to be true. What Peter is saying is "Since it's you. And please notice as a side note that the storm is still going. It hasn't stopped. Some people lose that as they read through it.

    Continuation in Matthew, (Part 14):

Matthew 13:5 - Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

The Greek word for "stony places" is PETRODAY, and it actually means a slab. It does not mean that the soil was mixed up with rocks. It means that there was a slab, or a foundation stone underneath the soil, some kind of limestone or foundation stone underneath the dirt. And the seed would hit the dirt, and as all plants do, it would try to burrow itself. And then as all grass and plants do, they naturally try to spread root and establish a root system before they start cropping up on the top. This seed only has enough to be caught in the dirt. But it has nowhere to go for a root system.

Matthew 13:21 - Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

The phrase "by and by" is one word in the Greek (EUTHUS) that means Immediately. Properly translated "immediately, he is offended."

Matthew 13:25 - But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

A tare is what is called in the Greek ZIDZANIA, which means that it is actually black wheat. It looks exactly the same as wheat in its stalk as it grows, but when it gets to the time to blossom, the fruit of the wheat seed, some are black, and some are not. Now the ZIDZANIA (the tares), they are poisonous.

They used to feed those to their livestock because it's not good for food for people. But the animals started dying, and they began to realize that they were poisonous. All of a sudden you have got a good crop of wheat growing, but you have also got these tares growing with it.

So, the enemy came in, and sometimes they would do that to each other, is that a farmer would be growing his wheat, and then his enemy farmer down the street comes in the night and puts in tares, just to give them a bad crop.

    Momsage,

Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever told anyone on this forum that I was a man. I just assumed from my name that people would put it together. Throughout the years I have been posting here, folks have addressed me as "brother." I would have corrected them if I were not a man. But I can truly say that I "identify" as a man, properly meaning (but going against today's society), that I was born male, I will always be male, and nothing can ever change that!

As for the NIV information you have been posting, I did not know that was for me. My apologies for that! I do read your posts, but as I've mentioned, I don't read the NIV and probably never will. I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I have not read what you've been sharing on the history of the NIV as I did not know you were addressing those posts to me, and it is not something that interests me.

However, you might feel this information will benefit me in some way, so I will respectfully read it all. I hope you don't feel as though you've wasted your time up to this point by posting all that information. I would feel bad for that! I'm sure others may have read what you've shared. There are some here who do read the NIV, so what you are sharing on it might definitely benefit those who do.

I am going to copy and paste all that information you posted to a Word document so it doesn't get lost in the pages (hard to find later), and I will read it all as soon as I get some free time. Lately, I have been working on those study comparisons and differences between the Greek text and our English bible translations, including the KJB.

    Blessings to you also!

    You are welcome RicoUS,

It is always good for us to pray for one another. My three sons are all prodigals and have been for about 25 years. Please keep them in prayer for God to intervene so they will be able to turn back to Him in faith.

Two of my sons and my nephew have depression/anxiety that can be very threatening to them. Please pray that they will get the treatment that will be most effective for them and that God will both deliver them and heal them from this terrible dysfunction of their brains and bodies.

My oldest son married a Moslem woman from Singapore and in order to marry her had to convert to Islam. They are living here in the US away from her family and its influence. Please pray that they both will be transformed into new creation in Christ by the Holy Spirit and turn from Islam. Please pray for them as their first child miscarried last month and they are very heart-broken.

    Thank you so much.

Addendum: I feel led to say keep praying as well; it seems almost all denominations are at a cripplingly low level of such necessary spiritual activity today. Look for those who are open to prayer and also look for opportunities to pray for others.

That solves a lot of other issues that tend to come from myopic spiritual eyes which need to focus on above and have a vision; lest the people perish.

    God bless.

Dead religion is a result of placing anything above the Word of God. As to spiritual gifts; you also will likely be in a conundrum with many of the reformed or Orthodox circles who tend to hold to the 5 points of Calvinism. They actually had some vote on the subject in one of those denominations in the 1970s or so and couldn't come to a consensus. Sadly there are so many aberrant ministries displaying either obvious fraud or under demonic influence where many may claim to speak in tongues or have some prophetic statement that the few who may have a genuine insight are often lost in the flood of falsehood.

It is dangerous to make a blanket statement about cessation of gifts because it is an attempt to put God in a box that we can understand. As to tongues; for instance it is clear from those familiar with the occult that demonic tongues exist; so clearly God can counter it with angelic ones if He so chooses. I have had a few dreams and or words of knowledge from others that were clearly from the Lord. Such things tend to be rare. All these so called specific predictions for the Rapture; for instance clearly go against scripture. But as you probably know the Reformed churches tend to be what is called "Post Millennial" or Amillennial; and they disregard numerous scriptures about the 1000 year reign of Christ found not only in Revelation but Isaiah and other O.T. texts. This is another attempt to symbolize what they consider to be a past event rather than acknowledgment that the Old Covenant on promises of land; etc still could be in conjunction with the New; although of course some things are unique to the Church Age. Again; that gets into another subject; covenant theology vs dispensations which I argue are both clearly indicated in scripture.

Of course for us as individuals; we need to focus on holiness which comes from a contrite spirit ( Psalm 51) and certainly not exclusive of scripture knowledge but also being led by the Spirit.

    Agape.

Hi Jesse: I was hinting at whether you were a man or a woman. I thought I was talking to a man but I wasn't sure. If you've said things in past comments that should have told me that I forgot so I just wanted to be sure. LOL

I use to believe I had some German in me on my father's side but then he said I'm actually part Dutch. Who knows, the important thing is that I am an heir of Christ. :) :)

Here is the 2nd part on the history of the NIV. I'm not sure if you received it yet or maybe you got it twice???

and the "Contemporary English Translation" became the NIV. In 1967, the New York Bible Society (now called Biblica) took responsibility for the project and hired a team of 15 scholars from various Evangelical Christian denominations and from various countries. The initial "Committee on Bible Translation" consisted of Leslie Carlson, Edmund Clowney, Ralph Earle, Jr., Burton L. Goddard, R. Laird Harris, Earl S. Kalland, Kenneth Kantzer, Robert H. Mounce, Charles F. Pfeiffer, Charles Caldwell Ryrie, Francis R. Steele, John H. Stek, J. C. Wenger, Stephen W. Paine, and Marten Woudstra. The New Testament was released in 1973 and the full Bible in 1978. Professor of New Testament Studies Rodney J. Decker wrote in the Themelios Journal review of the NIV 2011:............"If we are serious about making the word of God a vital tool in the lives of English-speaking Christians, then we must aim for a translation that communicates clearly in the language of the average English-speaking person. It is here that the NIV excels. It not only communicates the meaning of God's revelation accurately, (of which I sorely disagree.) but does so in English that is easily understood by a wide range of English speakers. It is as well-suited for expository preaching as it is for public reading and use in Bible classes and children's ministries."

    God Bless

    Re.12:6 "Abraham's Bosom"

We have the Parable of Jesus to indicate where the dead in Christ go to. "And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;/And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom."( Luke 16:22-23). Abraham's bosom and the depths are alike in the heavenly places. In Job 41 we have a clue to the rich man's discomfort. "Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron./His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth." (41:20-21) The place has another name 'bottomless pit' which is guarded by an angel Abbadon/Apollyon.(Re.9:11) As Abraham explains to the rich man in torment "Between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence."( Luke 16:26) This fixity is like a door shut after the rapture. This is illustrated in the Parable of the Five Foolish Virgins' where the peril of negligence is very clear. "And the door was shut./Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us./But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not."(Matt.25:10-12)

The direct line of vision does not ever change. While alive the beggar was in direct line of vision the rich man could see him at the gate. After death we find the rich man from his place could see Lazarus resting in the bosom of Abraham. There is another instance this direct line of vision is rather brought out indirectly. Moses brings people to meet God and when He descends the mountain quaked. "And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because theLorddescended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly."(Ex.19: 16-18) . The same smoke from the bottomless pit, "and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace"(v.2

    Proverbs 16:18 KJV

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

    Psalm 45:11 KJV

    My Respond evidence scriptures:

'So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: For he is thy Lord; and worship thou him. '

    Psalm 119:128

'Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right, And I hate every false way.'

Believing in God ( Romans 10:9-10) is a precept.

    Matthew 6:33 KJV

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Ways you can seek God is by reading your bible, and praying. Reading your bible and prayer is a sign of worship.

    2 Kings 9:30-37 KJV 2 Kings 10:1-36 KJV

    My Respond:

Romans 10:9-10 allows you to become like God at the time you believe. Believing in God is a sign of worship.

    Romans 10:9-10 KJV

9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

    Colossians 2:14 KJV

'blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; '

    Ephesians 2:15-16 KJV

15 having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16 and that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

God has blessed me to become like his image, my inner man having faith and believing in Jesus Christ ( Romans 10:9-10 KJV) becomes a sign of worship. Reading my Bible and praying allows things to be added to me food, raiment and to do God's commission.

Commission- The state of that which is entrusted, as the great seal was put into commission; or the state of being authorized to act or perform service

    Re.12:16 "the earth"

"And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth."

God chose inheritors in light before the foundation of the world. They are as stars.

God set the children of wrath also in heavenly places. The word of God forever settled in heaven can change their composition. Faith of man is what God seeks. "TheLordlooked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God."(Ps.14:2)

Light and darkness have their own configurations so principalities, powers and rulers of the darkness of this world, have their correspondence with spiritual wickedness in high places. For example Michael an archangel fighting with his angel have rulers of the darkness in the depths. Behemoth is one such. "He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him." ( Job 40:19). He is not to be confused with hippo or croc of the Nile. "Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known." Just as God garnished the heavens with starry host the crooked serpent or behemoths are grouped under 'thy way'.(Ps.77.19). In the same discourse God tells Job, "Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth."(40:23)

The Single measurement which God has laid down where man and angel are composite realities on the Spirit that rules throughout His kingdom. What signifies a time, times and a half? Ministry of Jesus as the Spirit of Christ refer to the wonders he did is a time. For example the spiritual Rock,(1 Co.10:3-4) Times refer to the the slain Lamb-Re.13:8 and the Paschal Lamb heaven and earth and a half represents the gospel he preached in his Spirit to the souls in prison.

After rapture what is left of the earth are eternal habitations "that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations."( Luke 16:9)

    Interpreting Scriptures

GOD is Spirit, the Word- John 1:1.He is greater than JESUS- John 14:28,and 5:19-20,and 12:49.GOD Himself, the Word,is self-executing, JESUS is not- John 5:30.They are One in Spirit, but not in existence personal->GOD the Father, and the Word MADE FLESH-JESUS,both are DISTINCTS Persons- Philippians 2:6-9.

GOD has put all things under the feet of JESUS- 1Corinthians 15:27, but Hebrews 2:8-12 say:...8But now we see not yet all things put under Him.9But we see JESUS,who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with Glory and Honour; that He by the Grace of GOD should taste death for every man.

    1Corinthians 15:27-28

27For GOD has put all things under JESUS's feet. But when GOD saith all things are put under JESUS,it is manifest that GOD is excepted, which did put all things under JESUS.

28And when all things shall be subdued unto JESUS,then shall the Son also Himself be SUBJETED unto GOD that put all things under JESUS,that GOD may be all in all.

JESUS is the Spirit-GOD-MADE FLESH->GOD-Christ.Great mystery- John 1:14 combined with Colossians 2:9 and Philippians 2:6-11.Both are one Spirit- John 10:30,but two DISTINCTS Persons being the same Spirit Creator-GOD,having the SAME IMAGE,the image of the Spirit-GOD,one is invisible, and one is vsible- John 14:8-10.JESUS said: John 5:30->I can of mine own self do nothing:.

JESUS as the Greater Light,He commented about the lesser Light-the Person of the Holy Spirit-saying he is the Comfort, the Paraclete, and revealed what is the the mission of him here: John 16:7-15:(By analogy, the moon receive light from the sun,the moon has not ligh in it itself;the person of the Holy Spirit, the Comfort,he has not light in he himself,so he cannot speak anything if does not receive from JESUS- John 16:13.JESUS SAID:he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you- John 16:14,and he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you- John 16:15)

JESUS commented about the mission of the Holy Spirit- John 16:7-15

She as far as I know is not a believer in God but I pray that she finds him in her heart before her passing. I pray for her daughter of 4 years that she will leave behind and that she will be protected by our Lord. I pray that she will find peace through a relationship with Christ. I pray that I and our family will consistently lead her to the Lords open arms through our love for her and intentional spiritual guidance and baptism.

    Hey Jesse,

Thanks, brother, as you said I was just sharing my understanding that many do not agree, only if we, in prayer and study led by the Holy Spirit, can our understanding change. I know this doctrine has existed for 1600 years and to many, it is considered heresy to not agree. I am amazed at how many people have been killed because of it, even during the Reformation.

We can end this; I will only make one reply to Colossians 2:9. Do I deny the deity of Christ? No. Colossians was written about 30 years after Jesus was crucified, God raised Jesus from the sleep of death because death could not hold Him because Jesus was sinless, the man Jesus overcame the law by a perfect life, He fulfilled the law that was written for man that a man had to fulfill.

When God raised Jesus, He placed Him above all that is in Heaven, on earth, and under the earth, Ephesians 1:19-21 Philippians 2:9-11. This gave Jesus the full power of God's throne, but this did not happen until Jesus was victorious and resurrected, that is my understanding of Colossians 2:9. To me the word deity that was changed to Godhead is confusing and misleading.

    Thanks for your discussion brother.

    God bless,

    RLW
