    Re.8:14-16 "The Spirit of Adoption"

Law of the Spirit creates realities that are true as we consider two worlds framed by the word of God. Spirit of adoption is established on the foundation of God which is, 'the earth abides forever'. God a Spirit has made the earth made to appear and in terms of physical realities, that in the beginning the earth was without form and void; and in its fulfillment it is the Son in whom it pleased the Father to invest his fulness. This body of Christ has glory, and it is called the light of the Lamb.

God freely gave his Spirit. So indwelling Spirit guides a believer unto all truth and gives him glory of the word to work to perfection. Thus Jesus Christ in his Ascension gave us the earnest of our inheritance," until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory." (Ep.1:14) This is the Spirit of Adoption and the Law of the Spirit assures us that it is so. " Whereby we cry, Abba, Father./The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God." For this reason Jesus taught us, "And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven." (Matt.23:9). This is the Law of the Spirit and fathers after the manner of flesh are appointed to serve us while we are yet children.

Beatitudes drive home 'this one father in heaven' idea so when we are struck in one cheek we are called to turn the other as well to testfy this spirit of adoption; we similarly walk extra mile if it could put the weaker brother at ease. "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;/Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ."(Col.3:23-24)

We are no longer debtors to the flesh. "For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live./For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."

    Ro.8:13-14 "Faith with works"

" For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live./For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."

What does it mean to be hid in Christ in heavenly places? " For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God."(Col.3:3) No man has seen God, as John says,"No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him."( John 1:18). The word spoken to us is the truth and 'thy word is truth' makes the testimony of Jesus Christ as first hand account of heavenly realities. Being hid in Christ therefore is total trust in the Apostle sent from heaven. So the only way we can do is follow his example and it as real as being led by the Spirit. "Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample." Works is in the manner our faith strives to make this as natural and from our heart so there is no room for inconvenient pursuits. As a cartoonist for newspapers my world view centred on observing the quirks in others which is inconvenient in a chid of God. So I let it go. Similarly my growth led by the Spirit has been slow and with experience more easy and I believe his grace has filled in wherever gaps wer, So our Christian Living is not a single linear advancement. Main thing is to stay the course, and quit me as a man, trusting in my Saviour.

Jesus laid down the principle of Association. Matt.10:40;Luke10:16) Up and Down it moves as Jesus is the Lord from heaven; we becoming Christ-like so faithwith works move across. It mirrors heavenly placein the sight of God a Spirit. "For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:/Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself."Ph.3:17

My son Daniel is struggling with drug addiction, recently relapsing after almost four years clean. Please Jesus, help him find his way to everlasting sobriety. He is at risk of losing his fiance and all he has worked so hard to obtain. Please give him the strength to maintain his sobriety so that he may live a happy and wonderful life.

    Ro.8:12 "Life"

" Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh."

'Therefore' as we came across in v.1 refers to vv.10-11 If Christ be in us, law of sin has no more claim on you. If it is 'his Spirit that dwelleth in you' the same Power has set you in the heavenly places. (Col.3:1-3). This shift must be in your mind where faith is what keeps you as branch nourished from the righteousness of Christ. It is not in matters flesh can take pride but in the humility that was found in Christ. For example, "Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits."(Ro.12:16) His woe-to ye was specially called out those,"But all their works they do for to be seen of men."(Matt.23:5)

One example we shall consider, "but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live." (v.13) Moses is set 'after our likeness' so he set as the double for the Son. He spoke as commanded of God. He was set in heavenly place which is what Law of the Spirit states. He was chosen for his role as his Son was called to deliver whoever believed in him, from his sins. God punished him for not honouring him before the people. So he dies on the mount. Yet we see him at the mount of transfiguration along with Elias. (Matt.17:3) His position in heavenly places continues as before. God has let Son to judge and the day shall come. Law of the Spirit sets him life which has nothing to do with the flesh.

Similarly when Moses prayed God 'blot me out' in Ez,32:32-33 "Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written./And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book." God has already set Jesus Christ as the Judge and Mediator so Moses' request however well meaning was not entertained.

Law of the Spirit tells, "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other."(Matt.6:24)

    Ro.8:8 "The Law"

"So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God."

God a Spirit sets the Law, It is Law of the Spirit. How He works from the world unseen to the world made to appear has only the word to enlighten the consequences of the Law. The writer to the Hebrews explains, "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God," If one is in the Spirit does one need aske, What is deep time or the age of the mammoth tusks one digs up from time to time. It is what man in the flesh shall want to ask. His reason puts up a tantrum and what it cannot being an outsider goes on to make answers which can only make the glory of God among the skeptics, a matter of derision. Bishop pf Oxford at the time Darwin's theories defended that only showed one who is in the Spirit ought to let these things alone. St Augustine in his time was stumped to answer the question:which came first: chicken or the egg? God as the creator surely considers it according to his Law so we accept it by faith.

The Spirit instructs us for our spiritual growth set this verse. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. The Spirit also has set what pleases Him. "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (He.11:8) It is thus the Spirit has set signposts from first to the last. The simple merely takes a text and interprets literally. The woman's seed cannot be Abraham's seed since man's blessings do not sprnig from Abrahamic promises but from Jesus Christ the Word made flesh. "Thy word is truth" Jesus applies to the word or the Law of the Spirit. It is set down in the covenant. Ep.1:3-4. He chose us according to the pleasure of his will. "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,/To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved."

The Word is GOD,GOD Himself,self-executing,understand?What does the Word of GOD say?

Je.23:29-Is not my Word like as a fire?saith the Lord;and like a hammer that breakes the rock in pieces?

JESUS made it so clear,saying:Lk.12:49-I am come to send fire on the earth;and what will I,if it be already kindled?

    JESUS said more:Lk.12:54-57

54...When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There comes a shower;and so it is.

55When ye see the south wind blow,ye say,There will be heat;and it comes to pass.

56Ye hypocrites,ye can discern the face of the sky and the earth;but how is it that ye do not discern this time?

57Yea,and why even of yourselves Judge ye not what is right?

Gen.18:17-22-17 The Lord said,Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do?20The Lord said,Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and their sin is very grievous;21I will go down now,and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it,which is come unto me;and if not,I will know.22And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom:but Abraham stood yet before the Lord.

    Gen.19:1-14

    1And there came two men to Sodom at even;and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom:and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them;and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;

13They said unto Lot:We will destroy this place...the Lord has sent us to destroy it.(NOW THE DEVIL'S WORLD AS A WHOLE)

    Lk.17:26-30

26And as it was in the days of Noe,so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man

27They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark,the flood came, and destroyed them all.

    28Also as it was in the days of Lot;they did eat,they drank,they bought,they sold,they planted,they builded;

29But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained FIRE and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all

30Even thus SHALL IT BE(NOW)in the day when the Son of man is revealed

You are correct Gigi, it is fits with the Spirit's signpost, all our path to salvation leads to Christ Jesus, and Christ alone."all things were created by him, and for him:/And he is before all things, and by him all things consist."(Col.1 I:16-17,19) Enmity between his seed and your seed can only lead to him.

You say "Satan was testing Jesus to learn more about Him", Oh no, it is not true, I don't eat what you are saying, Satan was not interested in learning anything from JESUS, Satan was luring / attracting JESUS into his satanic trap, just as he had done with Eve and Adam in the beginning, and still does until the current time, as we can see.

No, the Scripture text tells us not what you believe as being the Devil's intention in the tempting of JESUS. My Lord JESUS fought against the Devil when He was tempted by him, by the Devil, and JESUS, as being the Word(GOD) made flesh, knew so well the devilish intention of the Enemy, then when Satan said to JESUS to transform stones in bread, He answered to Satan as the Word of GOD says in Deuteronomy 8:3. JESUS said: Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the MOUTH of GOD.

Afterwards, Satan tempted my Lord JESUS by the Word of GOD, as he does until the current time, saying:"If thou be the Son of GOD, cast thyself down":Satan tried to induce JESUS to something like suicide, saying to JESUS the Word of GOD assured He shall give His angels charge concerning Him: and in their hands they shall bear Him up, lest at any time He dash His foot against a stone. WHAT SATAN SAID TO JESUS WAS TRUE, but my Lord JESUS didn't fall in the TRAP of Satan when he used the Word of GOD to tempt the Lord,so JESUS by the Word of GOD said to Satan:It also is written,Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy GOD. Deuteronomy 6:16

Again, the Devil takes JESUS up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them (AND TODAY, HOW SATAN SHOWS HIS GIGANTIC AND SUPER MODERN WORLD?)

9 And Satan said unto JESUS, All these things will I give thee,if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

10 Then saith Jesus unto Satan, Get thee hence, Satan:for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy GOD, and Him only shalt thou serve. Deuteronomy 6:13 and 10:20.

    Yes, S. Spencer,

Upon reflection, I came to the conclusion that the promise of the seed of the woman was the promise of Jesus.
  • S Spencer - In Reply - 6 months ago
    Hi Gigi.

    Thanks for responding.

Yes, Christ humanity comes from the woman but

the promise in Genesis has nothing to do with humanity. The seed mentioned in Genesis 22 and Galatians

is clearly identifying Christ as the one promised.

You stated, "We do not know if this was referring that women have "seed" as in ova

I can assure you this has nothing to do with "seed" as in ova. In Genesis 22 its Abraham's seed!

I also don't believe God had to created male DNA in a sperm He put into marry to fertilize her ovum or if God placed the male DNA directly into her ovum to conceive Jesus. God didn't have to do that with Adam.

The Scripture states that the Angel of the Lord came to Joseph in a dream and said "for that which is CONCEIVED in her is of the Holy Ghost. Conceived "Gennao in the Greek" means to procreate.

In Isaiah 7:10-14 Jesus's birth was to be a miraculous sign!

"Moreover the LORD spake again unto Ahaz, saying,

Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.

But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.

And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also? Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Satan is declared here as having a seed also, so this is definitely talking about something other than biological birth. It's a title of a being.

They are Identified in the same passage as a "it" and "his"

(Here follows; And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between "thy seed" and "her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.)

I believe this goes beyond Eve and also Mary as we see it climax in Revelation, Particularly in Revelation 12:5-17.

    The woman mentioned in Genesis 3:15 is also to be persecuted! "And I will put enmity between thee "AND THE WOMAN", and between thy seed and her seed;

    Good night and God bless.

    John (Part 15):

John 8:58 - Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Literally, "Before Abraham was in existence, I AM in existence!" Before Abraham was in existence, I was already in existence, and always had been. The "I AM" of the Old Testament!

John 9:27 - He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?

It says, "will you also be his disciples? In the Greek text it expects the answer no.

John 9:34 - They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.

That is the official term for excommunication. They kicked him out!

John 9:40 - And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?

The Greek text says that they expected the answer no. We are not blind also are we, looking to Jesus?

John 10:1 - Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

Thief and robber, very interesting words in the Greek text! The reason why there are two different words here that pretty much represent the same thing is because there are two different words in the Greek New Testament.

Some people get confused about this. They believe that that Jesus died between two thieves, but in the NIV, in the gospel of John, it says that He died amongst criminals, which is true. It doesn't say anything about thieves.

Well, Matthew, Mark and Luke, they mention the fact that He died amongst robbers. That is where we get that part of it. The only difference between a thief and a robber is that a thief will steal by stealth or by deception. A robber does it by force. So, thieves and robbers, these are depicted in the Jewish proverb as false Christ's and false teachers.

    John (Part 14):

John 8:24 - I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye do not believe that I AM, and even though it says "he" at the end, the Greek text just says "I AM." It is the name of God in Exodus 3:14, when Moses was going to go to Pharaoh and say, "God says let my people go," and they ask, "Well what is your name, what do I tell them?" God says tell them I AM has sent you, the eternally existent one! Unless you believe that I AM, you shall die in your sins.

John 8:27 - They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.

I think it's very interesting, and just to point out a technical point, there at the end where it says, "of the Father," it is just "the Father."

"They understood not that He spoke to them the Father." He gave them and spoke the Father to them, not Himself!

    John 8:31 - Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

    Then said Jesus to those Jews who had believed on him, and the word "believed" is a Perfect Tense. They were in a condition of belief. If you continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and the word "indeed" in Greek is the word genuine. If you continue in my word, (remain in it, dwell in it), then you are my genuine disciples;

John 8:43 - Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.

The word "cannot" in Greek is the word ability or capacity. You do not have the capacity to hear my word. In 1 Corinthians 2:14, Paul says that the natural man cannot understand the things of God, and the Holy Spirit comes and reveals the deep things of God.

Only the person who has the Spirit of God can understand the things of God. The natural man does not understand spiritual things. So, Jesus is telling them that in your natural unbelieving state, you are not able to hear my word.

    John (Part 13):

John 7:35 - Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?

These are called the Hellenists in the Greek text. They are talking about the Jews who have left Jerusalem and gone to live in Greek communities. They are Greek speaking Jews. And so, they are saying "Is He going to go amongst the Gentiles and teach the Gentiles," but they are making reference to Hellenists. That is a title for the Greek speaking Jews.

John 7:37 - In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

So, on this last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood, and it is interesting that the word "stood" is a Perfect Tense meaning He had been standing through the entire ceremony.

John 7:51 - Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?

The Greek text causes us to expect the answer no. Or yes, our law does let a man present himself, but no, our law does not judge a man before it hears him or knows what he does.

John 8:2 - And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

Now the word "came," again is in the Imperfect Tense. They were flowing, people were just flowing to come and see Him, crowds of people, and He sat down and taught them. That is the position of the Rabbi. The Rabbi would always sit down to teach.

John 8:10 - When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

The word "condemned" in the Greek (KATEKRINEN) is a judicial term meaning "passed sentence." Has no one passed sentence on you?

    John (Part 12):

John 7:15 - And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

The Greek word for the word "letters" is GRAMMA (Pronounced Grah-ma. In Greek, gramma actually means the individual letters of the alphabet, and then it came to be used for putting the letters together to pronounce words. And then thirdly, it reached a phase where it represented all writings that had words in them.

So, they are saying, "He's uneducated, He's never attended any of our religious schools. Where does He have all of this wisdom and knowledge?"

John 7:17 - If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

Literally, that first part of this verse in the Greek text reads, "If anyone should will to do His will."

The word "will" is that free will process, or that decision making process. When we approach life and approach the word of God, what is our motivation? Is it so that we can do His will? We'll know whether it is right or not from the Bible. Isn't that interesting? That is a guarantee. It says that you shall know of the doctrine whether it be of God or whether I speak of myself.

Not all Christians have the right motive in the approach to the word of God. The bible is for people who say, "I really want to know what the Lord's will is." What does God say about this so I can do it? These are like personal letters from God to us saying here is my will for your life. I'm just saying that when you want to do the Lord's will, you'll know whether the teaching is from God or not.

Not when you compare it to your human desires, not when you compare it to your personal opinions, not when you compare it to what you want out of life., but as a surrendered disciple who wants to do the will of God, you will know whether the doctrine is right or not. You'll know whether that doctrine was inspired by the same Spirit that lives inside you that inspires you to want to do God's will.

    John (Part 11):

John 6:63 - It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The word quickeneth means make alive. It is the spirit that makes alive, the flesh profits nothing: In other words, there is no spiritual benefit in the flesh. Zero! The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. They are not physical. It is spirit. It is not physical life, it is spiritual life. So, He says everything that I just told you about my flesh, and my blood, take that and change it into spiritual metaphors and you'll have what it means.

John 6:70 - Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

    Literally, the word demon!

John 7:1 - After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.

After these things (META TOUTA), meaning right after the things in Chapter 6, Jesus walked in Galilee: for He would not walk in Jewry, (that is, in Judea), because the Jews were seeking to kill Him.

John 7:11 - Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?

Remember the Jews, plural, whenever it says the Jews in the plural, it is representing the leaders. So, the Jews were seeking Him at the feast, and said, where is He?

John 7:14 - Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.

The word taught is called the Imperfect Tense, continually teaching in the temple. And what is interesting is that He went up in the middle of the feast, not at the beginning of the feast.

The feast had started. People were looking for Him. He wasn't there. So, everybody starts turning their attention towards the activities of the feast, and then Jesus went into the temple around the middle of the feast.

    S. Spencer,

You are right, in Scripture lineage is usually traced through the genetics of the father. So, the sperm cell is the link between generations (the "begatting" is from the father).

But in the case of the promise in Genesis, the promised Seed would receive His humanity from His mother naturally but from God supernaturally.

Biologically, what I explained about ova and sperm both being "seed" is played out somewhat in plants. The germ for the seeds are made by the female plant and the pollen from the stamen fertilizes these germs which mature into fruit and then seeds. But it takes both male and female cells to create a flower, fruit or seeds.

It is interesting that Genesis speaks of the seed of the woman. We do not know if this was referring that women have "seed" as in ova, that contribute to the genetic makeup of progeny or specifically to the offspring (Seed) of the woman as in Jesus conceived in the virgin Mary without male sperm from any human man. We do not know exactly what happened in this conception. Whether God created male DNA in a sperm He put into marry to fertilize her ovum or if God placed the male DNA directly into her ovum to conceive Jesus. We just do not know.

But we do know that Jesus was fully human, having 26 human chromosomes, and that He was fully God, never having been created, having a beginning, or being generated from the Father at some time in eternity past. His divine nature is eternal and His Sonship to the Father is also eternal. The Father has always been the Father of the Son and the Son has always been the son of the Father.

And then there is the work of the Holy Spirit in Jesus' conception in Mary and with bringing the divine Son into union with the human nature. it is a profound mystery. But I am sure glad God within His three Persons did this for our salvation and for His glory. Have a good night.

    Hello Benny

As I was thinking about what you wrote in your post, I remembered that Jesus actually did make a similar miracle. In the marriage in Cana of Galilee He turned water into wine. That was immediately after His baptism by John the Baptist. And also it was before Him going to the wilderness. So I was thinking that satan had actually seen Jesus turning miraculously a thing to another (so it seems there is no problem doing that). So satan knew Jesus could do that. So why did he ask Him to do something similar again? My thought is that he was trying to get into a discussion with Jesus, the same way he went into a discussion with Eve, "Has God told you not to eat from every tree in the garden?". And depending on Jesus' answer he would had set his trap. Unlike Eve, Jesus didn't go jnto a discussion with him but answered using a scripture. Similarly He used scriptures in the next 2 temptations. This sets an example for us. Do not ever get into a discussion with devil. He comes with thoughts. Answer him by a scripture.

Well all that reminded me of something that had occurred to me long ago just after I believed. One day as I was walking in the streets, some thoughts were popping in my mind. Thoughts about how God didn't answer some prayers of mine and didn't help me in some situations, so He doesn't love me...this sort of things. And I kept thinking about these for some time and some not so nice feelings for God came into my heart. Sometime God spoke in my heart and said , "why do you get into a discussion with satan? Don't you know that you can not outplay him?" And I suddenly realised that all those thoughts were not mine but were placed in my mind by devil. He wanted me to have bad feelings for God and somehow he managed it a bit. This is a lesson that I sometimes forget to be honest. When this sort of thoughts come in our minds we must always think and answer with the proper scripture. Nothing else,
