I have asked myself how do I increase in love and the power. So I am not lacking or diminishing in God's word. God's power does not work in you, if you don't work the word to get the love of Christ, and the power is in his word to manifest the power to work by believing and walking in faith. I have faith in the works because of the word of God.
  • Barbara on Acts 4 - 5 years ago
KJ version is only translation that uses the phrase Acts 4:30 By the Name of Jesus not through the Name of Jesus. This gives two different meanings to me. Am I missing something here or am I misunderstanding

Verse 13~They were outspoken because they had the holy spirit which gave them the boldness to be fearlessly outspoken.

Verse 3~Persecution arose soon after holy spirit was poured out. Satan uses his earthly agents to try and stop the progress of the true Christian congregation.

I remember my baptism at 20 years old. It truly was an unforgettable experience. The p0wer of the holy ghost can truly have an immediate impact upon you. I like to compare it to hitting a home run. I pray that same power would continue with me forever, and the Love of Jesus and the power of the holy ghost. Peter, like me, started out good, he did deny Christ. This is the journey that is ahead.
  • Vicki on Acts 4 - 6 years ago
A disciple, everyone is guilty of Christ’s death for,He specifically came to atone for our sins. This idea of placing blame on a particular group is nonsense. It was the Father’s will that He come to shed His blood, for and take our sins upon Himself.....For God so loved the world.....see John 3:16.
  • Ray321 on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
Matthew 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. All of the disciples were sleeping or somewhere else, but Mary and Mary was there with Jesus. Matthew 27:61 Was Peter waiting for Jesus, did he forget the resurrection.
  • A disciple on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
Ray; don't you know that Peter was the first chosen Apostle, and of the Twelve? None of them understood before His resurrection, except Mary of Bethany and maybe a few others. Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit and preaches to the Jews WHAT THEY NEED TO HEAR! that they were guilty of betraying the Lord Jesus Christ, and let Him be put to death without a cause. They were guilty, and still are!

Acts 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. Here we go again, Peter is letting the Jews know how they crucified Jesus. Remember Peter did not believe that Jesus was going to be raised from dead, he wasn't there to see.
  • Peter A. Okebukola on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
The Holy Spirit has emboldened the Apostles. They are now on fire for Christ and endued with healing power. They shared and lived communally. What a glorious beginning in was with the Apostles! Today, we should strive to have the Holy Spirit with us permanently so we can be so empowered and overcome sin and the devil.
  • A disciple on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
Is there any doubt that the beast who ascends out of the pit is going about in a furious rage against the LORD and against His Anointed, to make war on the Saints? or that the devil has come down in great anger because he knows he only has a short time, to pursue and persecute us and to devour us? Why then do so many Christians still think that they can reason by truth with the unreasonable?
  • Wayne on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
123, and if a person had respect and adoration for the Word of God, one wouldn't spin the scriptures. One gospel and only one gospel.
  • Charles Bonsu on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
    Amen.
  • Wayne on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
Yes, they pray, also, to their venerated past leaders. Which is necromancy. Praying and asking for help from dead humans. As you say, Christ is our salvation and our life.
  • Maria Morales on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
Verse 12 says there is no name under heaven given among men whereby we can be saved. Mary the mother of Christ neither any other can save us and yet people pray to them.
  • Wayne on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
Titus 3:10, an heretic reject after the first and second admonition.
  • Wayne on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
Those that deny Jesus is the only begotten son of God are blasphemers and heretics.
  • Wayne on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
Now 50 years of Bible study should have cleared up Father, Son, Holy Ghost. But being as it hasn't, 2 scriptures to help. John 8:28, words of Christ, as my father hath taught me. John 14:28, in Christ's "very own words", for my Father is greater than I. This is my Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. If Jesus, whom some say, is not the Son of God, but God,they make God out to b a liar.
  • Irene123 on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
a disciple - It's plain to see now that - you have no use for God's word, nor Pastors - Heb. 10 25. If you had respect for God's word you wouldn't leave out parts of it - Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:38; 4:12.
  • A disciple on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
Irene; WHY don't you ever let go of this notion, that the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit are all one person? Whoever you're listening to, is taking you down a wrong path, into heresy! There's no part of the Scriptures that is left for us to guess at, or put our own meaning to. You might want to consider getting away from ALL so-called teachers, and read the Word for yourself for awhile. :)
  • Irene123 on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
Kevin - V. 12 also means we cannot be saved using the titles of 'father, son, and holy ghost' in Matt. 28:19. Matt. 28:19 clearly says " ... in the NAME ... "; also Lk. 24:47.
  • Thomas 16 on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
Bruce .. gospel of thomas there are 114 of the sayings authenticated in egypt 1945 purportedly directly recorded from thoughts and words of christ.. not to mention these sayings reflect christ gospel through out the kjv

Tom 77: where are these sayings found in The Bible?
  • Irene123 on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
Vs. 1-3; Reading this and thinking about it - it's fantastic to think of being jailed for preaching the Word. But, it will happen again; the banning of religion in schools, public bldgs. - not just gov't bldgs., is just the start of worse to come, BUT - our Lord Jesus is wa-a-ay ahead of the opposition. It's too bad the opposition doesn't know this.
  • Thomas 77 on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
77 Jesus said: I am the light that is above them all. I am the all the all came forth from me, and the all attained to me. Cleave a piece of wood I am there. Raise up a stone, and you will find me there.
  • Kevin on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
I believe it to mean that one shouldn't worship false gods no matter what their names are. We can only be saved through Jesus, not Allah, Mohammed, etc.
  • Irene123 on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
Rhonda got a good start on the 'ONENESS' - Isa. $3:10; here's more - v. 11; 44:6, 8: 45:6, 14 18, 21, 22; 46: 5,9; 47:10; 48:11,12; Jn. 20:28 - "My LORD and my GOD". Thomas a Jew said this to Jesus - a Jew; and Jesus didn't rebuke him for calling Him - GOD. Being a Jew, Thomas wouldn't have had he not known Jesus was God in the flesh.
  • Love for Truth on Acts 4 - 7 years ago
Amen Acts 4:12 through no other name can we obtain remission of our sins Acts 2:38 "be baptized everyone of U in the name if Jesus Christ for the remission of sins" Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.
