God is not giving us the Spirit of Fear but a Spirit of Power and Love so that we can overcome whatever storm comes into our lives. God is merciful and he is faithful to his promises that he will never leave us nor forsake us. He will save God 's people for those who love him and obey his words until rapture. Jesus is the only Jehovah and there is no other above name its Jesus. Thank you Jesus for the precious blood that shed for us, your Ascencion, your Resurrection and thank you Lord for giving us the Holy Spirit. Amen

If fear gets in : it can cause wrong actions to be done and after got hold it will try to sever fellowship with God : Sever closeness with loved ones : Fear destroys. If you have allowed fear to have a foot hold : Be of Good cheer God has made a way of escape : He will bring you back and help you regain control of what you may think that has been destroyed. Just because we miss from time to time does not mean that God has given up on you. He is still there waiting to help you. He will never leave you or forsake you. Now if you forsake Him then your in trouble. Run to God : He is ever merciful and more than ready to bring you back up. I have been given a spirit of power and of love and of a sound mind !!!! Before it even looks like I have the victory I still have the victory because I have the Victor who has conquered all !!!!

This verse has helped me bury the fear that I have been having. For it shows that fear is not of God,it was not given to me by God. So if I am the Lord 's why should i fear?
  • Jan Davis on 2 Timothy 1:15 - 9 years ago
If the Asian churches had deflected from the faith, along with Phygelus and Hermogenes, then why did Jesus commend the 7 churches in Asia Minor in Revelation 2 3 for their faith and endurance, and for recognising false apostles, calling them liars, and rejected them?
  • Lilian on 2 Timothy 1 - 9 years ago
Our job is to believe on Jesus only and love him and obey his commandments. Jesus will give us the power not to fear to the enemy coz Jesus will give us peace, joy and love instead of fear. Jesus have commanded us not to be fear to any enemy coz everything is possible with God. We must keep praising and thanking God everyday for the favor, love, mercy and his greatness to follow us all the days of our lives - Psalm 23 Thanks God for the precious blood he shed for us

Fear is so overrated, it backs us up in the corner and makes us not belive God!

There is a gift God has given to every believer. Some come by the laying on of hands, as Paul did to Timothy when they were together. This gift cannot be effective if it is not stirred, rekindled or fanned to flame. And what you do not use you loose.
  • Simon soh on 2 Timothy 1 - 9 years ago

I was really struggling with fear of something someone said, and my colleague reminded me of this scripture, it is so powerful and reviving, I now realize that I have nothing to fear because God says we should not be afraid, we should rather be strong and courageous for He will always be with us and He will never forsake us Joshua 1 9

2 Tim 1 7, For God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind. I believe this verse is making us aware of what God through Christ did for us when we received him. The bible says old things have passed away behold all things are new. For us to instill the work God has done in us through Christ, we must read His word. When we were with out Christ, the sin nature in brought hopelessness, fear, hatred, confused minds ect. God is telling us that those things have been nailed on the cross with our sins and just as we get tempted to sin now and then and we resist, we must also resist the feelings of fear, powerlessness over circumstances that we think that are beyond us, know that we are loved and can also love and believe that we have a sound, healthy God designed minds which can think the thoughts of Christ as we go about our daily lives. WE MUST CAST down all thoughts and feelings that exalts itself above the words or establishment of our Lord and victory will be ours, as the Lord Jesus said we should not fear because he has already overcome this world and all that it has in it.

2 Timothy 1 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. The word of God is the truth first, than I have faith to believe the word of the truth. Than the miraculous power, love, and discipline of our mind 's works in the full affect of the word of God to have the victory in our lives having never again fear.
  • Mrs.Edwards on 2 Timothy 1:7 - 10 years ago
I think that fear is a allusion that we make real because god tell us that he hasn 't given us a spirit of fear so who do u think he gives us a mirage of a scene where their is nothing but failure or darkness but God gives us light life more abundantly his blood was shed for a purpose bigger than we will probably be able to grasp simple because our thoughts are not his
  • Tony on 2 Timothy 1:13 - 10 years ago
You failed to mention an important word in this scripture. The word form which means in Greek tupos which means pattern. Your words can be sound put if they don 't follow the pattern then they are useless. If you desire to be a true Christian you can 't divert from this pattern. Are you a true Christian?
  • Ron Braley on 2 Timothy 1:7 - 10 years ago
This is just one of the many, many verses misunderstood, misused, and misquoted in today 's church culture. There are many places in the Bible where we are told to have a healthy 'fear ' i.e. Luke 1 12, 12 4 5, and 7 16 Acts 5 10 11 and 13 16 Romans 11 20 21 and 13 7 2Corinthians 7 1 Ephesians 5 21 Philippians 2 12 1Peter 1 17 and 2 17 1John 4 18 . And, this makes sense we are to 'respect ' the power and just nature of our God, and our God the Father created us with flesh emotion that fear is one emotion that can keep us alive. In context, this 'fear ' Paul speaks of is timidity or cowardice in proclaiming the Gospel. And, Paul 's comment makes sense since any true follower of our Christ will have the Spirit of God in them. That Spirit, according to Jesus, will provide instruction and boldness In fact, Jesus told His disciples not to worry about what they 'd say before the magistrates because the Spirit would instruct them i.e. Mark 13 11 . Blessings. Ron Braley

For me, this Scripture is saying, trust God. Let Him lead me. Let His Word resonate in my mind, heart, soul. He created all things, all creatures, He is all powerful , all knowing, everywhere. I lean on Him believe in Him. Whom should I fear ???

  • MockingBird on 2 Timothy 1:13 - 10 years ago
Sound words are healthy words that build up and edify the only way that I can do this is to do be in Faith which is the word of God and Love which is the word of God . Sound words is the entirety of Gods word from Genesis to Revelation. Yes, even correction and chastisement is sound and healthy. Praise God
