Hi Cheryl This is a part of scripture where God is showing how absolutely dire a situation was. A famine and unbelieving army surrounded the city so in verse 28+29 give you how bad it was. Then in verse 30 when a person in the middle east puts on sack clothe and ashes it is an indication of dire distress I.E. what can I do. What's worse is the next verse where he blames Elisha the man of God for what took place. Look what God Tells Elisha by his spirit from verse 6:32 to 7:1 Especially verse 1 Hear the word of the Lord Thus saith the Lord I.E. pay attention! Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel and two measures of barley for a shekel in the gate of Samaria. Of course they thought he was nuts because by the five senses the situation looked {impossible], now we read how God made a way where there wasn't one. It started with FOUR LEPROUS MEN in verse 3 and the details carry until the end of the chapter. Another example of How our God makes a way where there is no way. God is always willing to help if we have our spiritual ears on so to speak.

His name was Gehazi, Elisha's servant. You can see his name come up several times in 2 Kings chapters 4, 5 & 8.

God is working wonders through Elisha. He truly has double portion of his master's (Elijah) spirit.

This is a powerful chapter that reveals God as our present help in times of need and ever present in our journey of life. David says the Lord sets a table for him before his enemies. This chapter illustrates victory for those who call upon the Lord against their enemies. Powerful chapter and how so perfect the bible goes in harmony from Genesis to Revelation.

When Satan was kicked out of Heaven ( Isaiah 14:12-14), he took a third of the angels with him ( Job 38:7; Revelation 12:4). This means that there are twice as many of God's angels as there are of Satan's, not to mention that God Himself is with us ( Psalm 46:7). Truly, there be more with us than there are with them.

God created many dimensions and Heavenly and Demonic beings exist in those dimensions, in the air above your head.

Our Lord 's love and compassion sometimes astonishes me when he hears and quickly responding to what, in the scheme of things, must be an insignificant appeal.

In times of difficulties we must try as much as possible to take good decisions. We should not be led by the difficulties to mess up things. Our help is in the Lord but not mortal beings.Amen

Worshipping God continually in truth and in sincerity backed up with faith consciously aware of HIS presence, no devil can withstand the consuming fire of God around us.

I will liken the sons of the prophets who went in search of timber to us, children of God, then the axe head that was borrowed to mean our destinies, because we are all living on borrowed destinies and the journey they took to mean our journeys towards the fulfillment of those destinies.Elisha stands for Jesus or God whose help we definitely need if we are to fulfill our destinies. Thank God that one of the sons of the prophets had the presence of mind to ask the man of God to go with them, imagine the disaster if he had not. And so, in the same vein, we all need the presence of God to go with us in the journey of life, just in case trouble arises, and the only way to do that is by giving our lives to Christ. Therefore, if you are reading this and you have not yet given your life to Christ, please say this short prayer. 'Father in the name of Jesus, i thank you for this opportunity today, i realize and accept the fact that i am a sinner, i ask you to please forgive my sins and wash me with the blood of Jesus. Jesus the son of God, come into my life today and be the Lord of my life, write my name in the book of life and help me fulfill my destiny, Thank you for answering my prayers in Jesus name, amen '.

The more closer we are with God, the more of His power we manifest. Today the only way God can do wonders through us is to totally dedicate our lives to Him, tarry long in prayer and be consistence in holy living. Be completely loss in His Will and love, it will amaze us how often He speaks to us audibly, God is real, He could speaks. May His name be praise forever.

First of all the axhead was borrowed and it also was an expensive tool.So he would have felt very distreede over the matter knowing that it was his responsibilty to return the item.Elisha the prophet a man of God knew that prayer and the action the Lord would have given him therefore knew how to act upon the situation.A miracle came forth. So when one has faith and steps out in that faith they know that they are assured the promise of a Miracle.

I think that the message we are to learn is that although it seems we are alone and there is no possible way for victory, God has us surrounded by his angels and we are always protected and that God will take care of us.
  • Syl Walsh on 2 Kings 6:29 - 11 years ago
    Is this real?
