We in the church are hurt and disappointed when one of God children whom we have had Godly fellowship with is caught publicly in open sin. It is hard for us to forgive them but we must in order to keep Satan from getting the foot hold in the church.

    Amen Preacher.

Here's a verse that comes to mind.

Galatians 6:1-4. Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

I really enjoy reading the Bible on your site, but the book of 2 Corintians looks strange and I don't particularly like all the paragraphs run together like that. Weird

We must first understand the text in its truest form. To start, focus on the word "CALM". What is its root in the HEBREW text? How can it be applied to my life today? I believe that if I can find the real meaning to the questions I've asked I will be able to apply that truth to my personal walk with Christ. Pray my strength!!!

1Cor.1:5 confronts the sin of a man who was called a brother . the church as a whole hadn’t confronted his sexual immorality, allowing this behavior to continue could have eventually destroyed the church. Paul penned 2 cor. 2 less than 1 year later proving the rebuke was successful, the man repented and needed to be restored. The confrontation of sin and forgiveness of sin are both necessary

The vessels of the Lord must be clean and holy. All HAVE sinned; but all do not continue in sins! "Neither do I condemn you; go, and SIN NO MORE!" If a leader in the congregation sins, rebuke them before all, that others may fear; is the commandment. What is the reason for the sinning one not giving up the position as a leader? How did they fall? How did no one see it coming or were afraid to say?

1st Corinthians 5 is talking about a life style not a sin. You said if a man sin he cannot be a preacher. What about the verse that says for ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. By the standard you stated no one can be a preacher. I see 1st Corithians as setting the Church in order and Second Corithians as teaching is to forgive.

2 Corinthians 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. be aware of Satan and what he can do to our bodies. Satan always have to ask God for permission. Paul explains it well in his epistles.
  • Dewey J on 2 Corinthians 2 - 7 years ago
Foxyrock, if you read the second book of Corinthians you will see that the church leaders obeyed St. Paul's instructions of 1 Cor. and excommunicated that member for a season. But when he truly repented of his sins Paul instructed that church to receive him back into the fold of the church 2 Cor. 2:7, 8. Glory be to God in the highest. Amen!

    V. 14 - "Now thanks be unto God, who always causeth us to triumph in Christ ..... "
  • Irene123 on 2 Corinthians 2 - 7 years ago
We are all one in Jesus Christ - IF we are in Him, and He in us. He can only be 'in us' spiritually - through the infilling of His Holy Spirit by following Acts2:38. Yes, it's by believing (faith) in what Acts 2:38 says. I looked up 'faith' in the Bible, Jas. ch. 2; it tells all about what faith is. It's not just Rom. 10:13; it's also v. 14 and Heb. 10:25 - " ... not forsaking the assembling ... "

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)
