People's Bible Notes for Matthew 28:11

Mt 28:11 Behold, some of the watch came into the city. The time when these men went into the city is noted. It was while the women were on their way to tell the disciples. It is also stated that "some of the watch" only went to the priests. How numerous the watch was we are not informed. As the watch had been set by the priests themselves, it made its report to them instead of to Pilate (Mt 27:65,66).
