    Whenever believers meet to pray, we should first pray and intercede in sincere passion for people who are going through divers challenges. Secondly for our leaders, nation and church then lastly for ourselves.

    @Charles,
    Sure the woman was deceived and then drove man in the same way. It means the woman became the devils associate, and with the proximity she had with man, it became so easy to draw man in the same path. As we are easily convinced by people we trust and love.
    God bless you.
  • Charles L. Kennedy on 1 Timothy 2 - 12 years ago
    Verse 14...the woman being deceived was in the transgression and not the man. Since Adam knew what he was doing, then why did he eat, knowing that he would die?

    @Mercy,
    Though the Bible does not openly ban jewelries and makeup, it warns us against wantonness ( Romans 13 :13) and recommends women to 1 Timothy 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
    10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
    So it is to each and everyone of us to find the right measure.
    God bless you.
  • Mercy on 1 Timothy 2 - 12 years ago
    In my country here, some people say that wearing any type of jewelries, makeup, and plaiting hair with attachments are sins against God. Some even make it a law in church that without obeying this law, you cant work in the house of God. I believe in modesty and humility. Please help because I am quite confused.

    We women do have enough to do without trying to take on the man's job. Keeping our home to teaching our children. Living a life filled with love not only for family, but for everyone. Share Jesus with every word and deed. We have knowledge. SURE! We can read THE BIBLE and we can learn AND we can share it with everyone we meet. With our actions.You don't have to have a pulpit or a stage. Remember actions can speak louder than any words ever can. Charity never fails.

    The Word of God is what is is and means what it says. Women were put here on earth to compliment the husband and Eve committed the original sin and deceived Adam. Adam did not commit the original sin. That is the way it is and you cannot add to or take away from the Word of God without judgement falling upon you.
  • Kimber on 1 Timothy 2 - 12 years ago
    1&2 Timothy is a LEADERSHIP epistle and Paul is talking to Timothy about leadership. Also most of the time when the word subjection and "woman" are used together the word woman should be "wife". In fact Strong's concordance says the word "woman" in 1Tim 2:12 is (transliterated into English from the Greek) "goo-nay" the number is 1135. And Strong's says it means woman and specifically wife.

    So Paul is saying that a wife is not to teach or take over the teaching from her husband; men are head of the household. But there are times when women do teach and are leaders: remember Deborah? She was a judge of Isreal. And Miriam the sister of Moses was a Prophetess and in Kings Huldah the prophetess and in the gospels the prophetess Anna who prophesied about Jesus when he was a baby.
    Women went a little overboard when they learned that they were equals with men spiritually. for there is no bond nor free; no male nor female; no Judaean nor gentile in the spirit. Being equals in the spirit women thought they should have equality in the church and yet GOD had given men leadership responsibilities; so when some Christian women and especially wives tried to teach and arguments broke out. Paul wrote to set things straight. Women can teach and have taught in the past. Remember Aquila and Priscilla; they were a husband and wife team who brought Apollos home and taught him more perfectly the will of GOD concerning Christ. Acts says they both taught him.
    I am still studying 1 Timothy 2:12, but I'm sure that Paul didn't mean that women could never teach as these other women clearly had taught and were still women of GOD.

    I have an issue with woman showing their breast, especially in the church. It is very disrespectable to the name of Jesus, the house of God and the saints who died for this gospel. Verse 9 clearly states to dress in modest apparel. After God has saved you, you change, old things are passed away and all things become new, you are also renewed in your mind. Cleavage is a sex thing that should be left for the bedroom, why would a woman want people looking down at her breast? Are they part of a fashion statement now? Perhaps they are the new jewelry? We wonder why we are often disrespected, raped, called ungodly names. We have done this to ourselves. A modest woman is one who watches her clothes, shamefaced means modest again, sobriety means to be aware. Ladies please cover your breast. I always hear God saying go back to the old way. The old way included the way we use to dress.
  • Samuel Bonaya Buya on 1 Timothy 2 - 12 years ago
    We are not saying women are not doing a good job or not gifted but there is the commandment of God to be followed. Paul clearly says in 1Corinthians 14:37 if any man thinks himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. Now he was speaking the word to people with various gifts of the Holy spirit. Jesus says in Mathew 7:21-22: not everyone that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven: but he that doeth the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say unto me in that day, Lord, Lord have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name cast out devils? And in thy name many wonderful works? And I will profess unto them, I never knew you depart from, ye that work iniquity. Yes they can do mighty works in His name but if is not at his command it is all in vain. His will is His command. In 2John 1:9 it says: Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath no God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the father and the son. The doctrine of Christ did not place women preachers in the church. Where did these women preachers originate from? In Mathew 16:6b- take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees. In Mathew 16:12 the disciples understood he was not speaking of leaven of bread but leaven of doctrine of Pharisees? What was wrong with the doctrine of Pharisees? Here it is: Mathew 15:9 - But in vain do they worship me teaching for doctrine the commandments of men. In Mathew 15:3 they transgressed the commandment of God by their traditions, of their elders. The Apostles doctrine ( Acts 2:42) was the doctrine of Christ. Jesus says in John 17:16-17 - my doctrine is not mine but his that sent me. If any man do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God or whether I speak of myself. The doctrine of Christ did not place women preachers, but doctrines of pharisees and saducees. In Mathew 23:29- 37 He called them serpents, brood of vipers. Adressing the serpents Jesus said you killed the righteous, shed their blood, from the blood of righteous able. These scripture clearly say Cain was a serpent. The original serpent gave Eve leaven of false doctrine and slew her by it, she became a transgressor. John the Baptist calls these serpents brood of vipers. In Mathew 23:15 they are called children of hell. The serpent convinced Eve to transgress the clear cut command of God by giving it a false interpretation. He deceives the fallen church the same way today. We are here looking at the scripture comparing spiritual things with spiritual, scripture with scripture and by the Holy Ghost, for scripture interprets scripture and was given by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost for correction and reproof. Jesus warns us in Mathew 7:13- enter ye in the straight gate: for wide is the gate and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life. The doctrine of the Apostolic Fathers that begat us by the gospel is of the Holy Ghost and cannot be added to or subtracted from. In I Corinthianthians 4:15 Paul says, though ye have ten thound instructors in Christ, ye have not many fathers: for in Christ I have begotten you throught the gospel. In 1timothy 2, it speaks of women to adorn themselves in modest apparel. It is unbecoming for Christian women to dress like the world, to walk naked and to put garments that pertain to men. Deutronomy 22:5 says the woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a womans garment: for ALL THAT DO SO ARE AN ABOMINATION UNTO THE LORD THY GOD. That settles it.

    The most high has given his creation specific duties that work to fulfill the benefit to the family in the general sense. However, this patriarcal view needs to be examine based on its time and place. There are women teachers who do a great job and women teachers who do a poor job. This applies for men the same. The Hebraic and Arab view in regards to women can be disconcerting. Abraham two sons formed the lineage of two belief systems; Issac/Christianity and Ishmael/Islam. God annoints whom ever He pleases...also the pronouns of He or Him can insinuate patriarchal views. God should not even be addressed as He because this refers to man. There are times man need to learn in silence and subjection. Let us not the people of the past views influence us to argue. Can you imagine some of the politicians views or conservative views being the gospel? Always think for yourself, whether it is the bible, qur'an or talmud...think for yourself and try to live a righteous life. Righteousness has no gender neither truth.

    Ladies you r such a wonderful asset. Great for teaching Sunday school,teaching other women etc.. But God has his qualifications for church leadership. I'm sorry but the word dose say u must be! Not should be, not could be or maybe be U must be the husband of one wife. How can u fill that if ur not a man? Everyone has testimony thank God for it, but that does'nt make u called to Pastor, all the preists of Levi were men, all the apostles were men, get my drift? Levi was the ministry tribe. Everyone has there place, God left pastoring to men because that's the way he saw fit to do it. So sisters we welcome ur wisdom,streanth,

    Many people read the bible without revelation from God. We can argue until the end of time whether or not women should preach or do more, but I don't believe that God would put His annointing (approval) on anything or anyone, contrary to his word. Shouldn't we be concerned about reaching lost souls?
  • Naria on 1 Timothy 2 - 13 years ago
    It seems difficult ot believe that Jesus would rather a woman not preach than to save a person's soul through receiving the word of salvation from that woman. Also, it is because God gave us a brain that the Bible is open to interpretation. This is both a blessing and a curse, don't you think?
  • Timothy Wayne George on 1 Timothy 2 - 13 years ago
    Paul is instructing leaders in the church to pray, and intercede for all people. Especially those in government so that we can live a peaceful, and godly life. We should not gossip about people, but rather pray for their salvation.
    God is willing that all come to knowledge of the truth. Since Jesus is the only mediator between God and man. As for women, they should have a ministry to other women. Adam was not deceived, rather it was Eve, and for this reason men only should be pastors. We must obey God, and remember that Jesus is the head of the church.
  • Dayday on 1 Timothy 2 - 13 years ago
    1 timothy 3 says that deacons must have there families whole before he deacons. 1 timothy 2:12 says woman shouldn't teach or have authority over the husband. 1 timothy 2:11 says woman should learn in silence. So we understand that woman must first understand submission in churches and when she's married she'll understand the value of submission. Since pastors don't teach this true doctrine anymore, woman feel that don't have to obey it. Not to mention woman pastors as-well. They set examples for woman to wan't to argue the bible. Woman stop listening to these Jazabelic leaders like Hilary Clinton, and Oprah who help promote these false words. Woman want to lead this nation now. There are no woman Kings in the bible. Submission is beautiful. Woman please prophecy and use your God given gifts. But also know your God given place in the church.

    believers must take God's word as it is siad and stop interpreting it to suite us. women in the Lord should take king Saul's account in 1 Samuel chapter 15 incomparision to 1 Timothy 2. To obey is better than sacrifice.
  • Tom on 1 Timothy 2 - 13 years ago
    I read 1Tim as an epistle to church/congregation leaders first and foremost with a reference for women to be modest and learn in silence and not to take authority over these same male congregation leaders especially in the midst of the congregation(Again trying to bring all to a contrite heart). Please do not put the KJV into contradiction by trying to silence women there are many examples of women vocally beseeching Jesus and even business leaders like Lydia having and giving testimony of their beliefs....thus sayeth the Lord.
  • Kyjesusonefan on 1 Timothy 2 - 13 years ago
    believer's I don't believe in women preachers by no mean but i do believe that a woman has every right to testify to sing during services if God meant for us to keep silent silent he wouldn't but testimonys or songs on our hearts
  • Natahn on 1 Timothy 2:9 - 13 years ago
    Paul was telling Timothy that women should present themselves modestly. By that I mean, they shouldn't wear clothing that reveals everything that God gave them. They should dress in a fashion that God would appreciate not in a way that will create a distraction from God. Paul was trying to say that a modesty issue can become a morality issue. And Jesus said... 'But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart( Matthew 5:28)"
    When women dress un-modestly, they tend to create an opportunity for a man to lust.

    For those who insist that we should take God's word in the Bible literally: should we still kill those who work on the Sabbath?
  • Believer on 1 Timothy 2 - 13 years ago
    I cannot believe women actually think that they have a right to speak up during service! God gave Paul and Timothy and all the apostles permission to write these things in the Bible...and if you think for one second you know better than Paul or God then You'd better be thinking again. Women have other ways to play their part, by prophecy (spreading the word after the church service), ministering (helping other members of the church), among other things. For example, I know how to bake well...I use my baking skills to make the Lords Supper (unleavened Bread). I wouldn't dare ever speak up during service because that's the mans job and I'm glad it's the mans job, I wouldn't want the burden of possibly misleading or misguiding members and be judges for it on judgement day. Please people, don't try to twist the scriptures around to where they fit your lifestyle, they are what they are...who are you to argue with God...or even the apostles!!!
  • Chris on 1 Timothy 2:12 - 13 years ago
    Edith,

    If you are part of the group that has a literal interpretation of the Bible or part of the group that believes the Bible in infallible then this verse shows how we are currently living wildly in sin by allowing our women to teach men and not remain silent.
  • Tom melton on 1 Timothy 2 - 13 years ago
    anyone that disagrees with gods written word needs to be praying to god that he will forgive them.that is why this world is in the trouble today,people think they know more than god,i pray for them that they will understand befor it is to late.maygod bless allis my prayer.the only thing that ihave in my heart is to love and serve him not to disobay his word.this is gods inspired word we all need to follow it both man and woman.
  • Mom on 1 Timothy 2 - 13 years ago
    On verse 8--modest apparel for women. Fashions for women right now are disgusting--too little coverage! Our clothing should not draw attention to us, but should rather draw attention to our faces, where our eyes are, so we can make eye to eye contact. We don't want to cause a brother or sister to stumble by our dress. Also, our clothing should not intimidate others. If a person comes to church and sees everyone dressed expensively--trying to outdo each other--is that person going to want to come back? Or will he/she say, I can't fit in here. I don't have the clothes.
  • Matt on 1 Timothy 2 - 13 years ago
    Is not ALL scripture inspired by GOD? so once again man/women choose what ones they want to follow to meet there own wants. Not GODs. Man did not say for women to be silent. an Inspired apostle of GOD did. you cant pick and choose what scripture you want to follow that where Matt 7-21
    comes from. Brother and sisters be safe and humble your self to our GOD will. Bless you all
  • Pam on 1 Timothy 2 - 13 years ago
    To Disciple 1 . Women and men have suffered over the many years of oppression and sin. All creation suffers. Yet, through Christ, we each..man, woman, or child can come to live in Him , being one of the spirit to grow as a full and complete human being. The gifts developed in a person through process are meant to be shared this world. Husband, Man your role as never been as a savior, but to lead as is honest and fitting.
