Sonny In response to walking by the Spirit how long do you think a person can go with every action, thought, motive, be done out of pure love and you have answered your question, because pure love is the love of God. 1 Corinthians 13 It is known as Charity or the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation. In His Service
Sonny schepers The whosever in 3:16 literally means everyone that believes jew or gentile i.e. anyone who believes, world is kosmos meaning arrangement or beauty so the world subject to Romans 8:22 All of creation was made subject to vanity will be delivered in the very end. Look at 3:17 For God sent not his son to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved. It is Gods will to deliver not to condemn. Choice is you either believe or you don't. In His Service
I appreciate this comment very much. God Bless you David! The more I walk with the Lord, I am aware of the daily deepening of the work of the Holy Spirit in all the hidden places of self in me. I choose the fire now rather than the fire then, he fire of the cleansing Spirit. I am being given to see the secret of the beauty of God's will. The term "God's will" used to be such a heavy hammer to me. I was still filled with love of the world and the love of self. Lately, the Spirit is driving home to me, the "heaviness" IS the world spirit, the heaviness IS sin, and death and deception, and the glorious brightness and freedom is GOD'S WILL, through Christ and him crucified... What a grand reversal is taking place on earth!!! and in each of our souls who turn to Jesus. Praise God, for the unspeakable grace of a simple day today loving and doing His will.
If you go back to 1 Sam chapter 8, you will see that since prophet Samuel was getting old & his sons were a useless, evil pair, the people cried out to have a king rule over them, just the heathen nations had over them. Samuel warned them about this after consulting with God but the people wouldn't listen. And this displeased God as it showed that His people no longer wanted to put their trust in Him for their blessings & battles, but to have a human king to reign over them. And you've read about this in chapter 12 when Samuel rehearsed with them how God blessed His people when they followed Him but when they turned away, they suffered badly.
So, to prove to them that God was angry at them in asking for a king, Samuel asked God to show His Anger by sending thunder & rain during their wheat harvest, at a time when that type of weather would destroy their crops. After the rain came, they feared God & realized their foolish request for a king. Sometimes, God has to do this to us too, when we're too stubborn to do what He wants us to do, we feel the pain from His Hand. So Israel quickly changed their prayer for a king to a prayer that they themselves wouldn't be destroyed. But they did get Saul as king, but he was not God's chosen - you can read about that in the following chapters.
... years later, in 2019, most people of earth have the same mind-set and hard-heart identical to the people of this chapter ...thereby GOD wrath is upon many... never-the-less PRAISE GOD for another day of HIS Mercy which allowed someone time to be SAVED by applying John 3:16, and others is allowed time to repent of sinfulness, thereby we shall be at The Marriage Supper Of The LAMB Rev: 19:9 .
Israel wanted an earthly king like their neighbours. They did not realize they were God’s chosen “people”. That He modded them; He set them apart; He love them with an “everlasting” love. We are like them, today. We want to be like the world; God said, come out from among them and be ye separate, and touch not the unclean thing. We want to be in the world:to be contaminated: (serve God and mammon).
... years later, in 2018, we the people of earth have the same mind-set and hard-heart identical to the people of this chapter... thereby HIS wrath is long overdue... so Praise HIM for another day of HIS Mercy which allowed someone the time to have there name entered in the LAMB's BOOK Of LIFE (Rev: 21:27)... WOW! WOW! WOW!.
The Lord our God is the Lord and Shepherd of His flock. He that has lost his life for the Lord shall reap everlasting life. The sacrifice in this time is a broken heart and contrite spirit that the Lord so desires. A meek and quiet spirit are given to His people. The Lord knows those who are His. We must stay faithful, continue in the first works, and endure unto the end in all obedience.
Amen
You know its so easy to read these scriptures and say what THEY did wrong or should do and what WE should do,but do we remeber these things when we ourselves have went back and forth back and forth,do WE always stay on point and NEVER fall?,so who are we to judge,we are NOONE,we ALL have done what these people did on some level, question is how long will it take us to STAY w/ father I pray 4u n me.
The key message from Samuel to the Israelites in this chapter is "Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you." This message is true for us today and for all times. We must fear the Lord and serve Him in truth.
Brianna for verses 20-21 on 1 Samuel 12 - 7 years ago
These verses highlight how much we should be giving Jehovah. We have to serve him with all of our heart. If we do so, then we won;t get distracted by empty things that can cause us to be separated from God's love. To nurture our love for God we need to study his word the Bible, and then apply what we learn in everyday life. Associating with those who share our same values can help.
What stood out to me was, Israel demand for a king was a sin, in that request they were replacing God who had been their TRUE KING. They were being reminded of Gods faithfulness to them and their forefathers and even though they got the king they asked for.. the king was not to take the place of God and they were being reminded to obey Gods voice and if they failed to do that the same things that happened to their forefathers would also happen to them and their new king if they turned away from God. The point of the message was to stay obedient and faithful to God.
Be truthful. faithful to all around you! If you decide to be a mean machine then time catches up with you and things sometimes happen to help you get back on the right track. You need to be a good person in order to really get help with water, lights, gas and more!
If we continue to obey God 's commandments, He will not abandon us. We may stumble , but if we try our best to serve him he will help us. He has set aside a people for his name, and for the sake of his name, and what his name means, become what he shall become, he will not leave us.
The Lord wants us to be men and women of integrity. We must speak the truth in Love, and make restitution to anyone we may have harmed. Our yay must be yay and our nay must be nay. Then we will hear well done good and faithful servant enter thou into the joy of the Lord.
1 Samuel 12 14,15 If ye will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the LORD your God But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your fathers.
ETHEL WARE COMMENTS 1samuel 12 16 God, show us all the time that he loves us ,in so many, many, ways and yet we still wants more, we gets so ahead of ourselves, and impatient, when we pray that we start to murmur , to complain. when we should be patient and wait on the Lord He know what is best for us, and when we need it. MY SISTERS AND BROTHERS IN THE LORD,DO NOT VEX THE SPIRIT OF GRACE.
when we ask GOD for something we need to learn how to be patient and wait, GOD know just what we need, and we also need to be careful about what we are asking HIM for, the Isrealites wanted a King like right now and one that they could see, they rejected GOD which was the best for them until HE appointed a King for them they were even told what this King was going to do to them but they did not listen. all that I can say is he that have an ear let him hear what the LORD have to say. LORD unplug my ears so that I can hear what YOU have to say to me.
1samuel chapter 12,is telling us that we people should'nt decide for God,rather we should allow God to decide for us,the people of lsrael made a mistake by asking God to gave them the King that will rules over them.
I think why Samuel said like this because he was a leader of Israel not only a national leader but a spiritual leader. As a spiritual leader, he had an obligation to pray for them to God.
1 Samuel 12:16-25 Principle illustrated: God does not tolerate wickedness and shows that through Samuel. God sent thunder and rain when Samuel asked Him to do so to prove to the Israelites that the Lord hated their wickedness. Because the thunder and rain came down, the people feared God and Samuel. The people then asked Samuel to pray for God to not let them die because of their sin. Samuel then encouraged the people by saying that God will never forsake them. I remember the times when I had done something that my parents told me not to do and consequences immediately followed. They did not spare the rod on me. In this case the thunder and rain came to me in the form of daddys leather belt. Daddy set me straight because he loved me and did not want me to wickedly disobey him again. From that experience I learned that I needed to obey my dad and that if I did not I would be paying for it later.
Let our walk in Christ draw others to the saving grace of the Lord Jesus.
Many will not read the Word of God; but let them see it in us, as believers of the Lord Jesus Christ.
God Bless everyone on this forum.
